Does anyone remember when boone and locke are out in the jungle and Locke says to Boone that it will rain in exactly 1 minute and he's right?

Well if one of Dhamra initiative's projects is to predict the weather (which this link says it is. http://thetestpilot.blogspot.com/2005/10/lost-update-islandsolved.html) then how is locke involved?

I think Alvar Hanso is Locke's Father and something was done to him not necessarily a transplant from Locke to father

OOHH....

Good One.

I thought it was a little odd about Locke knowing exactly when it would rain. then again, he is Locke.

And with all of his animal hunting/walkabout stuff. He is pretty good at it. But as many would say it is one thing to KNOW about something but it is another thing to be able to PERFORM that something. Maybe he has more expertise/practical survival skills than we know about!

i think hanso is deffinetly lockes father, thats what the whole kidney thing is about
maybe they transplanted him somehow with something

I look forward to more Locke background. His whole attitude of faith and drive is very interesting. I have a feeling there is a whole lot more to old John then we've been told thus far.

i think we're being led to believe locke is the key to the whole reason they are there. i think locke will come to find out that it was jack all along. it almost seems like jack is holding information. seems he wants to say something but doesn't. his whole demeanor about everything makes me wonder....

Mathematical forecasting is not using numbers to predict the weather.

Mathematical forecasting is used by engineers to

"forecast the behavior of a physical system".

"Accurate mathematical forecasting reduces the risk

of building latent design errors into the physical product."

(Mathematical Forecasting, Donald I. Good, 1989).

Any links you see relating this topic to predicting flooding

is using mathematical forecasting to analyze how flooding will occur

(or the behavior of a physical system),

not to predict the rain itself.

Also, I saw a promo for the Canadian version of Lost somewhere on the net, and when Locke goes down into the hatch, you see Desmond pointing the AK-47 rifle at him and Desmond says, "Are you him?". WTF? Locke definitely has something to do with this Island. And, was Locke really paralyzed? Or was he just pretending? I know I could pretend to be paralyzed. It wouldn't be that hard.

Really? How do you pretend to be paralyzed? And why would Locke pretend to be paralyzed anyway?

maybe locke has lived on the Island at some stage and needs to go back there to resolve some issues?

Well, it's not hard to predict rain when it comes within a minute. I could do that...

Perhaps Locke had the surgery done in the same hospital that Jack worked at. If so, maybe Jack did the Surgery. We already know that Hurley part owned the box company that Locke worked for.

Please bear with me as this is my first post. I am recently new to Lost. I live on a mountain and although I have satelite, I don't get local stations.(no ABC, CBS, etc. poor me!)...so until my adult daughter bought the Lost DVD and shared it with me a few weeks ago, I had been unenlighted and unentertained. I am, of course, now hooked! She is taping the new episodes, but I am only on Ep 3 of season 2 as she lives 2 hours away.

My observations about Locke...Isn't the Island his Walkabout that he so ardently wanted but could not have? An interesting theory about Locke's father being Hanso, but seems too tidy, to me. It also seems to me that, at least for the main characters, none of them wanted to be on the plane going to LA. The ones who did; ie the Marshall, are dead. Now I could be missing out on a lot of info since I am not up to date on episodes, so again please bear (polar) with me.

My last question: I see by the above Hanso link that there are indeed 7 active missions. However, when I watched the Dharma Orientation film, the guy says this is station 3 and then says something about being stationed on this quadrant of the island. Doesn't that make 4???? Mayhaps the other 3 stations are on a near by island or maybe the word means nothing.
