My husband and I noticed that the lines around the swan in the Dharma Project logo looked like I Ching hexagrams - or part of them. So, I did some research (at work while the boss is on vacation) and came up with this:

They are the eight kwa (trigrams) that form the basis for the I Ching. Translated, they are:

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri111.jpg - khien = heaven/sky

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri011.jpg - tui = still water (lakes, ponds)

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri101.jpg - li = fire, the sun, lightning

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri001.jpg - kan = thunder

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri110.jpg - sun = wind, wood

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri010.jpg - khan = moving water (rivers, rain), the moon

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri100.jpg - kan = hills or mountains

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ich/img/tri000.jpg - khwan = the earth

The I Ching is often read by flipping a coin or disk that is black on one side and white on the other multiple times. Sound familiar?
