At first I didn't really like Desmond all that much, then I started you love him! If you are the same way please write so here... If you want to say the good or bad about Henry Ian Cusick's Character Desmond please do so as well.... Have a great day and remember Get Lost,

LostFANatic91 10-14-2005, 03:44 AM Any takers?
ThePenguinJanitor 10-14-2005, 10:10 AM I certainly agree, Henry does an amazing job portraying Desmond. He kinda has this crazy "locked in hatch with no one to talk to you in the middle of the pacific ocean" feel to him, but hes also kind and sort of mysterious. It all makes you want to find out more about him, like flashbacks! lol
ChicaFrom3 10-14-2005, 02:40 PM Ian does an absolutely BRILLIANT job with Desmond, giving such a multilayered, complex feel to the character. There's so much to find out about him, and I'm deeply interested in learning it!
Looking forward to more Des in the future!
Southern Belle 10-14-2005, 03:56 PM I certainly agree, Henry does an amazing job portraying Desmond. Hey PenguinJanitor, I soo agree with you, he does have that 'look' about him, but who wouldn't, after what he's been through, just makes him more mysterious and interesting.
I simply CAN NOT WAIT till TPTB show us more of his story!!
jbdean 10-14-2005, 08:00 PM Of course it's no surprise to find me in here! I have to echo what you all have said. He is the most fanstasic actor I've ever seen. I'm watching his portrayl of Jesus in "The Gospel of John" and I tell you ... it is blowing me away with every single scene he's in. Man, whether you're Christian or not, you will be so moved by his performance and wowed by his acting that you'll totally love it. He does a verision of Jesus I have never seen before ... a real and believable one that would have been able to walk among the people.
I'm trying to get my hands on more of his work but I have watched some of the clips from some of his UK work on his Official web site. Check it out, if you haven't already. (Link's in my siggy.)
LONG LIVE DESMOND!!!

Don't post to bump your thread. That's a no-no here and can get your thread deleted. And we don't want that!
LostFANatic91 10-16-2005, 03:14 AM Me's wasn't i swear... Wait you are only allowed to say something once? I mean I am not trying to bump... Are you allowed to say something after you post the thread or no? If that is bumping I WIL DEF stop right away....
dave3011 10-16-2005, 03:15 AM Yep I definitely agree, he is being really mysterious and has the right attitude for Desmond. Couldn't have cast him better.
Save The Humans 10-16-2005, 06:09 AM The man is amazing. It took awhile for the LOST characters to grow on me (though they certainly have!); I was in Desmond's camp within 30 seconds after he opened his eyes in Eppy 1 to start a new day!
Desmond is a wonderful, unique character--and the perfect friend for the very intense Jack! Their scene together at the stadium--I mean, they just CLICKED right off! And the scene in "Orientation," when Desmond remembered him. . . .
Look, they have just GOT to bring him back! Jack needs a friend like this. He needs the company of these people. He'll have a lot to contribute--especially as the battle with The Others gets into gear this season! And if, as the writers say, he spliced the film when it got worn, he'd be the ONLY ONE who could tell the castaways what was said in the parts that skipped! And they are, of course, probably the imperative things to know!
I can't remember the last time I was so drawn to, and excited about, a character on TV. He's intelligent, funny, appreciates good music, is caring and focused on people he's dealing with (Jack, especially!), and his positive attitude is realistic, and tempered by common sense!
BRING DESMOND BACK!

Yes, that's viewed as bumping. Unless you post again, after you replied to someone and then reply to someone else that posted before you. But replying to yourself is bumping a thread. I guessed you didn't know. That's why I wanted to warn you first.

BRING DESMOND BACK!
Very well put! I love this character, too. Henry Ian Cusick is an AMAZING actor! I've never seen anyone "become" a character as completely as he does. He IS Desmond! And knowing that the writers give very little background on characters (even the main cast doesn't know the outcome of the story), just proves his talen even more. Also, as you mentioned, the things that Desmond could do for the lostaways couldn't be done by anyother character that we've seen so far. And, far as the Others are concerned ... we sure know Desmond can handle a gun! LOL He strength and compassion ... two very rare qualities combined into one person.
Bringing Desmond back could ONLY make LOST even better (and until he came on the scene, I never thought I'd ever say that because before he showed up I thought it was perfect. Now, I know that with the addition of Desmond great can get greater to become the greatest!

Thank you for telling me! So since I am replying to you I am not bumping.. Good.. I got ya! Thanks for the warning... Oh and I am I agree with Save the humans Jack needs a guy friend! Although you know what scene made me weak? When Sawyer was trying to say goodbye to Jack.. AWW
dave3011 10-17-2005, 02:01 AM I think Desmond would be a great character to have as regular.
I've been thinking about this and how lots are worried that Desmond isn't coming back. If you think about it, OF COURSE he's going to come back! They can't just have him run away and we never see him for the rest of the show. That wouldn't answer any questions about how exactly he got there and where he went to.
So never fear, he'll be back.

Katie, you have BRILLIANT taste in actors.
I've noticed that the LOST PTB find the most wonderfully talented actors.
Desmond was in only three eps, and very briefly in two of those, yet we
feel that we've gotten a grasp on this character.
that tells a lot about Henry Ian Cusick, imo.
LostFANatic91 10-18-2005, 02:10 AM Hehe, Thank you :)
Anyway who are your favorite actors?
To Dave,
Spoiler on Desmond and other charcters.... DO NOT GO TO SITE UNLESS YOU WANNA READ THIS ARTICLE WHICH IS A SPOILER!

Horizon_Lost 10-27-2005, 08:37 PM Thanks for posting the site. Some of those were new to me.
But the bottom line is.......
WE WANT DESMOND TO COME BACK!!
Save The Humans 10-28-2005, 12:58 AM BRING DESMOND BACK!
Good. Got THAT out of my system--for about the time it takes to type in the code and press the button! :D
I really think that Abrams & Company thought was that we'd like Desmond, and they'd bring him back occasionally, a la Danielle. They also believed we'd fall in love with Ana Lucia, enough to agree with them that SHE should be the new regular. Eko and Libby would be in and out of episodes, a la Rose (and now, Bernard! YAY!).
It's not working out that way for me. I empathize with all the Tailers (as we call them on my other sites); we'll soon see what turned AL into LOST'S version of Xena, the Warrior Princess. I'm sure I'll feel for the character. But I didn't like the character even BEFORE she got on the plane (the scene with Jack at the airport bar). I have no idea if Michelle Rodriguez was TOLD to perform this character that way, or if they just went with her interpretation of it. But I'm pretty convinced that this is a case of wrong actress/wrong character. Nothing against Ms. Rodriguez; I wish her a long, happy career. But if they HAD to have this character, SHE should be the recurring one! I'd rather see more of Eko and Libby, personally!
Meanwhile, a fine actor, who has created a memorable character that we all love and would fit in beautifully with the cast already assembled, sits in Scotland, NOT being on this show!
A&Co, you picked the wrong person(s) to be a regular! Please correct this error ASAP!

OMG! Your posts sounds like I wrote it! LOL You said exactly what I've been saying here on other threads.
I love Libby and Mr. Eko and do want to see them much (MUCH) more than AL. I'm sure they'll give her some reason for being like she is now but I think, as you mentioned, she was like that even before the crash (judging from the scene with Jack in the bar). She's too pushy and forward for me and I don't like that in anyone ... male or female. When I saw her in that bar scene I was thinking, "I hope they don't bring this one back." Too bad I only thought it and never posted it! :frown:
Desmond is an excellent character to add as a regular. He fits in, as you said, with the other cast members but in a way that's different ... for that reason he'd be excellent add to the ensemble ... for variety.
Save The Humans 10-29-2005, 12:52 AM jbdean: That is WAY flattering! I blush! It's always nice to have a kindred spirit!
I'd really love to see you over in my main LOST forum, posting with the rest of us LOST fanatics (many of who LOVE Desmond, too!). Won't post the link here, cuz I bet it's against Fuselage rules. But if you'd like me to send you a private message where I could tell you where to post, just say so! You'd fit in as well with us as Desmond would fit in with Our LOST Castaways!
1voice 10-29-2005, 07:00 PM jbdean, Save The Humans...you guys are so right! Desmond's awesome, Bernard, Libby and Mr. Eko are great and Ana-Lucia...ugh. Not a fan of hers. Nope. I don't want her as a regular! Desmond deserves that honor!

1voice, you can be the voice for me too! I wish that they had more women found among the tailies, as I think a couple of the men need love interests, especially Desmond. I am happy Bernard is alive, and I do like Mr. Eko. It is not that I dislike Michelle R.'s performance, as much as she just doesn't seem to have the charisma that other people on the show do. Hopefully the producers/writers will see what a great character they have with Desmond, and they will have to bring him back as a regular.

Nice to have a kindred spirit with me, too! There are a lot of us on Desmond's side and quite a few that can't warm up to AL.
There's no rule against posting links to anything "LOST-relate" here. I've seen tons of them. Go ahead and post it. I'll try to check it out.
