Whos Ethan?

First I found a (so called) page from the script of episode 6 on the oceanic website and then yesterday I cam across another page from the script on this website?

Why are the writers dropping red herrings all over the place? Today I found out that the episode has been put back to a week later? Is this going to be a massive episode where something unthinkable happens??

The writers want to mess with you. Nothing is what it seems. We're not in Kansas anymore, Dorothy.

Not trying to bust your balls, but you're misusing the term "red herrings". I'm just telling you for future reference. A "red herring" is usually an exception to the norm or an unusual rarity that draws attention away from the central issue in an argument.

That's the way tv works unfortunately.

Generally speaking, Novemember, February and May are "sweeps"periods when the big networks dish out their best material for higher ratings (well in the end it's all about setting higher advertising rates for sponsors). Look at this way, after our little hiatus, we'll have a climatic month and helluva ride on LOST. Half the fun is in the anticipation.

red herring can be anything that distracts from the topic at hand - it doesn't have to adhere perfectly to the definition given in your debate textbook. it makes perfect sense to apply the term to bits of info thrown to us by TPTB that are not very relevant to the actual story of the show.

That sucks. But it's brilliant TV....they know everyone is waiting with baited breath to see what happens next. They've got their audience on the edge of their seats, and they know it.
