View Full Version : You know you're obsessed with LOST when...
elfdream 06-21-2005, 04:01 PM You start buying DVDs of the actors in other series to help you make it through the summer. I actually bought the first season of Hetty Wainthrop ( a kind of British version of 'Murder She Wrote which starred our own Dom) pre-ordered the secon season.... and I am seriously considering buying Party of Five.... :lol2:
I've got already got Terry on some Episodes of West Wing...
TheMole171 06-21-2005, 05:40 PM you are going to paint the small model airplane you found to have the oceanic airlines symbol....b/c you are just that kool :P
Bescky 06-21-2005, 05:48 PM When you want to use the numbers for the lottery but can't buy a ticket. :lol2:
TheMole171 06-21-2005, 06:29 PM ^ i actually DID use the Numbers in a powerball drawing....my parents bought the ticket of course :P but I gave them the Numbers...
Mads13 06-22-2005, 01:03 AM you realize you're carrying your camera around with you just to take pictures of numbers
Leigh47 06-23-2005, 01:21 AM You buy a survival kit
Pack extra deodorant, aspirin, cigarettes (you don't smoke but its good for trade) - on your next few plane rides, just in case something might happen...you basically pack anything that might come in handy for survival
TheMole171 06-23-2005, 01:28 AM you passed Gate 23 in an airport....saw a wheelchair sitting by the door...and FLIPPED OUT (true story)
addicted2much 06-23-2005, 01:50 AM The stray dog has puppies and you name them after the Lostaways
Leigh47 06-23-2005, 02:06 AM you passed Gate 23 in an airport....saw a wheelchair sitting by the door...and FLIPPED OUT (true story)
:o Thats a bit freaky...and extremely ironic. Time to pull out the camera!
The stray dog has puppies and you name them after the Lostaways
Done and done...well except it was my dog and she only had 7 so we have to wait until the next litter to finish the batch. You know you've done a good job when the puppies owners start watching Lost and the scrapbook for each individual pup has a couple of Lost pictures.
TheMole171 06-23-2005, 02:10 AM :o Thats a bit freaky...and extremely ironic. Time to pull out the camera!
i wanted to....but it was packed
::hits self for packing camera::
Mads13 06-23-2005, 02:11 AM when you hear a "lost appropriate" song and think about cutting a fan video to it
Mads13 06-23-2005, 02:11 AM Mo....tsk tsk tsk :no2: that's why you have to carry a point and shoot at ALL times
TheMole171 06-23-2005, 02:21 AM Mo....tsk tsk tsk :no2: that's why you have to carry a point and shoot at ALL times
well i have learned my lesson!
Mads13 06-23-2005, 02:28 AM :lol2: as long as you learnt
lostfan4ever 06-23-2005, 02:29 AM You are watching the reruns on Wed. nights even though you have them all on tape and have seen them all so many times you can recite the lines with the actors. Sad but true.
Mads13 06-23-2005, 02:34 AM ^ true, but not sad :)
Leigh47 06-23-2005, 02:39 AM i wanted to....but it was packed
Thats when you start shoving people off, and if security tells you that you can't do that...tell them exactly what Locke tells everyone else.
You feel like if you don't watch the reruns you are betraying some sacred commitment between you and the show.
lostfan4ever 06-23-2005, 02:53 AM Very true Leigh, it would feel like a betrayal to watch something else when LOST is on.
stircrazy 06-23-2005, 04:41 PM You dream you are on the "Black Rock" in the middle of the ocean and are now one of the Lostaways. 8)
TheMole171 06-23-2005, 06:29 PM you pause POTC halfway through of your scenes to watch the rerun of Walkabout....and then yelled at the TV when there were no promos for the next eppy....
Leigh47 06-23-2005, 11:44 PM when you hear a "lost appropriate" song and think about cutting a fan video to it
^Just need to learn how to do that...having trouble viewing one to see an example.
*When you hear a "lost appropriate" song and listen to it, along with viewing screencaptures and start to cry horribly. Ex: Listening to Mandy Moore's 'Only Hope' while screen thru the end of 1x11 - where they discover Charlie and try to revive him. Then listen to Evanescence's 'My Immortal' whiling looking at some Boone/Shannon shared pictures.
Mads13 06-24-2005, 12:34 AM ^ you're missing some EXCELLENT videos at that site..... :(
Leigh47 06-24-2005, 12:40 AM May I enquire what sites those may be?? I've been to a couple *couldn't list them for you* some didn't work with my computer.
Mads13 06-24-2005, 12:49 AM the best one is http://www.lostvideo.net
i don't really know of others, but most of those posting are 'lagers too
Leigh47 06-24-2005, 12:58 AM Thanks. I'll try that site.
lostfan4ever 06-24-2005, 12:59 AM you surf any LOST site on the web that you can find to get you through summer withdrawls.
TheMole171 06-24-2005, 01:01 AM you search every INCH of oceanic-air.com hoping to find something that has been missed....
free_bird122 06-25-2005, 01:28 AM You catch a moth and name it Charlie.
Leigh47 06-25-2005, 11:37 PM Anytime you see a moth you automatically think about 'The Moth' episode....and watch as it flies higher and higher into the sky, free and strong.
Bescky 06-25-2005, 11:50 PM When your 6 yr old brother comes over to you while on the internet and asks, "Is that Lost?" and your answer is "yes."
True story and it happened today.
stircrazy 06-26-2005, 12:06 AM My 7 year old son asks, "mommy what are you doing?'"Oh talking to people about Lost?"
When he sees a pic of Dominic Monaghan he says "Charlie!"
Bescky 06-26-2005, 12:09 AM Aww that's cute stircrazy.

Mads13 06-26-2005, 12:14 AM when your friend says "that would be a real boon to our project"

stircrazy 06-26-2005, 12:20 AM When the highlight of your day, is changing your Avie* *:-[* *;D* *It's good bad stuff

waltisfuture 06-26-2005, 12:23 AM I found a few piks where he's a little cutie.

Bescky 06-26-2005, 12:07 PM When you secretly wish you could go to Hawaii and meet the cast but it only happens when your asleep at night. :P

jbdean 06-26-2005, 11:06 PM When you visit the Monterey, California aquarium and see the tidal pool sea animals and think of Jin trying to get Hurley to eat the seafood he prepared! (True story.)
TheMole171 06-27-2005, 12:05 AM you see that you are in seat 23C on your flight to CALIFORNIA and PRAY you crash on the Lost island :P (true story)
free_bird122 06-27-2005, 12:47 AM You are disappointed when you see that none of the seats you're sitting in on your flight have any of the Numbers. :'(
You explain to your brother exactly how, if certain things happen in a certain order, your plane CAN crash on a tropical island during a flight from New Jersey to Scotland.
jbdean 06-27-2005, 01:03 AM you see that you are in seat 23C on your flight to CALIFORNIA and PRAY you crash on the Lost island :P (true story)
Something tells me you asked for that seat, MO! ;)
Majandra 06-27-2005, 04:40 AM When you go to see your former High School's drama group's performance and there's a little girl and a little boy in the play, brother and sister and you think: "Oh look Boone and Shannon!"
(all my stories ARE true)
lostDelinQent 06-28-2005, 12:18 AM When your 6 yr old brother comes over to you while on the internet and asks, "Is that Lost?" and your answer is "yes."

stircrazy 07-29-2005, 04:42 AM When your 7 year old son already said CHARLIE! when he saw Dominic Monaghan but now your 9 year old nephew is saying it too.
CirceNona 07-29-2005, 05:18 AM Gads I am an addict! I can relate to way too many of these things...getting family members hooked, crying over no Lost till next week, re-arranging my life to fit the Lost schedule....
Mine are...
Taking about half a roll of pictures of the old Xerox building where they film indoor/cave scenes, even though there isn't even any cast members outside. Also freaking out just because there are still random airplane bits and pieces visible form the road...we've also seen large rocks that looked like waterfall/cave parts...and I saw the boat outside long before the episode with it aired...so no wonder I'm always snapping pictures of that darn building!
Driving to the North Shore and taking pictures on the "Lost Beach" with Kaena Point in the background.
Wanting to eat at a certian North Shore Thai restaraunt every day just on the off chance the Terry will be eating there again.
Trying to think up ways to deliver an arrangement from the flower shop I work at to a cast member...this one borders on obsessive stalker behavior so I always tell myself No No NO..not nice! Then again, maybe they'd like getting flowers....or a yummy gift basket....
Oi! My list could go on and on...
Sgt Detritus 07-29-2005, 05:48 AM When you start posting about the show before you've seen a single episode!!! :lol2:
nonnyd 07-29-2005, 04:08 PM Your very orderly mother-in-law is on the way over to babysit, and you keep reading this thread instead of picking up the house!!!
Gotta go get the worst of it, finally.
Bescky 07-29-2005, 04:13 PM When you get upset that your dad turns the channel right before Sawyer and Kate is about to kiss.
This happened on vacay btw.
elfdream 07-29-2005, 04:56 PM When you throw a party because your husband (who has been avoiding LOST like the plague) agrees to sit down and watch the DVD with you.

sheba 07-30-2005, 02:21 AM When you break out in a cold sweat because you tried to log on to the Fuse and it was down for repairs!
clairbabydaddy 07-30-2005, 02:33 AM How about when you book a trip to dive with Great White Sharks in Port Lincoln/Adelaide and you sitting in Sydney contemplating getting a work VISA to stay here because you love it so much!.....If you ever have th chance to travel here, do it. I'm from Philly, so it took me 6 hours just to get to LA, let alone the 14-15 trip from LA to Sydney.and connecting flights to Adelaide and Port Lincoln.......It's well worth it. This a beautiful country with beautiful, friendly people. I honestly feel like I'm home in the States right now. I'm so glad the Aussie's....like the Brits are friends of America. I've met the most interesting and welcoming/warm people here....They even helped me work on my "G'Day Mate" hahahahaha. seriously! My friend said I sound "so American" when I say it. hahahahaahahahahah!
elfdream 07-30-2005, 09:54 AM So that's where you have been! I've been wondering about you.

Almost had a nervious break down also when I thought I'd have to spend another night in the hospital and there were no TV's on the ward and it was Wed!!! :lol2:
I started telling everyone HOW much better I felt! ha ha
The other thing I do is look up the the actors a lot, their history, and stuff...I can't seem to get enough of learning more about them...I just realized this week that Locke/Terry had a short run on Roswell, the 3rd season, he was in charge of the plant where Michael had his security guard job!
clairbabydaddy 07-30-2005, 06:09 PM So that's where you have been! I've been wondering about you.*

::joins abbykitty in woobieland:: :lol2:
free_bird122 07-31-2005, 08:06 AM You seriously jump up and down and freak out when the name Sayid is called in an airport. You then immediately start looking for the pregnant Australian chick and the guy in the wheelchair.
^^ Happened yesterday. It was especially funny because it was over the heads of EVERYONE because Lost hasn't aired there yet (I was in Scotland).
You spend every spare moment you have on the lage and start talking about the people here as if you've known them forever...
jbdean 07-31-2005, 08:35 AM When your landlord calls you and asks if you smell smoke and the first thing that pops into your head is the scene of Danielle taking the group to the 'black smoke.' This is true ... happened to me yesterday. :lol2:
Mads13 07-31-2005, 12:05 PM Guilty of making a little Lost Sim family ::)

You start comparing your friends to characters in Lost...
jbdean 07-31-2005, 05:48 PM Ha! Just read this. You mean as in The Sims....the game? If so, I SOOOO want these skins..... :D
I've been thinking of doing that! I have a ton of Sim families and I'm thinking of scrapping them all and building a whole LOST community.

I've been thinking of doing that! I have a ton of Sim families and I'm thinking of scrapping them all and building a whole LOST community.
i have the Sim bodybuilder or whatever it's called, and i find it amusing to see how exactly i can create a Sim of each of the characters.....:P

Mads13 07-31-2005, 09:32 PM I've been thinking of doing that! I have a ton of Sim families and I'm thinking of scrapping them all and building a whole LOST community.
That would be soooo cool, especially in Ver 2 cause you could tweak them to be like the characters. Hmmm...now I think I'll be spending all day tommorow doing this......another sign I'm obsessed.... :P
mydoglikesbeer 08-02-2005, 10:01 AM When you are at six Flags with your family and your mother says she is going for water and you tell her not to go, it's not safe.. there are Monsters and Polar Bears AND she knows what you mean and laughs. :lol2:
OMG! I was just in Chicago with friends and did the same thing. We all laughed hysterically for a moment, then looked around to make sure no one thought we were crazy.

That's so funny. My I have Harry Potter and Buffy the Vampire sims houses. Oh yeah, and Simpsons. I guess someone will have to get evicted. :p
bigbrowndog 08-03-2005, 12:25 AM You know you're obsessed with LOST when...
You go to sleep thinking (rather obessessing) about what is going on with The Island.
When you do finally manage to doze off you dream that your on The Island.
Not only do you dream about The Island, you figure out the secret, and try to wake yourself up so that you can write down what the secret is. (but of course fail to wake up)
You read EVERY single thing on the internet trying to figure out what the hell is going to happen. (but just more aggrivated)
You spend 3 hours on the Oceanic-Air website.
You stare off into space while your spouse is talking to you thinking about what Locke is going to do next.
You wonder, if Sayid and Locke got into a fight who would win?
:shifty:  :1eye: :crutch:
nonnyd 08-05-2005, 05:08 PM When your sons are playing with some of their toy dinosaurs, and one says, "Lets go find the others!" and your first instinct is to shout, "Noooooo!"
When your husband starts watching LOST and he casually asks, "What are the odds the flashlight would land on a hatch?" and you launch into a 10 minute summary of theories.:geek:
elfdream 08-05-2005, 05:13 PM When you go over to the UK Lost website and watch them get all excited about seeing Season 1 for the first time and you get all excited along with them..and then you remember...you've already seen it. :p
Mads13 08-08-2005, 06:35 PM when your friend refers to something or someone as a monster, and you counter...""Nah, it's just a security system."
LostVixen26 08-09-2005, 12:23 PM You actually sit through Rollerball only to see Sayid
Bescky 08-09-2005, 12:36 PM You have a countdown in your siggy for both the new season and the S1 DVD. :)
Leigh47 08-09-2005, 03:17 PM When you go over to the UK Lost website and watch them get all excited about seeing Season 1 for the first time and you get all excited along with them..and then you remember...you've already seen it. :p OMG! I was so excited going to that website! I was so happy for them and I love all the attention and buzz that is forming for them all! I can't wait to see what they say about the show!
Not only do you dream about The Island, you figure out the secret, and try to wake yourself up so that you can write down what the secret is. (but of course fail to wake up) I know I've uncovered the secrets...or...at least one secret...I remember Locke was in my dream once and he told me something very important.
georgiapeach81 08-09-2005, 05:24 PM ...when you see a license plate that has '1523' and not '1623'. I actually saw the license plate of someone I know earlier this summer.

Elf-lady 08-13-2005, 08:50 PM CQ: Did you say what? ;-)
You know you're obsessed w/ Lost when you keep calling your husband "Sawyer"....
LostVixen26 08-17-2005, 05:48 AM You freak inside when you spot a near dead ringer of a favorite character(I'm sure I spotted a Sawyer tonight)
lambchops972 08-17-2005, 08:46 AM Although you already have two calenders you buy a third because of the Hawaiian beach scenes on it.
TheMole171 08-17-2005, 03:05 PM you make your parents stop in the middle of the road while driving so that you can take a picture of a place called "Sawyer's Market"....true story
Leigh47 08-18-2005, 03:23 PM When it starts to rain you have the sudden urge to either...
a) put your arms up, tilt your face towards the sky, and smile (a la Locke)
b) ask the person closest to you if they were taught how to predict the weather at a box company.

You tell your friend that the reason her locker keeps on getting jammed is because she's next to locker #815.
TheMole171 08-26-2005, 09:55 PM ...you actually DO go out when it is raining and assume the "Locke Position" (true story)
...you get tears in your eyes, start hyperventilating, and cannot speak or move when you see the season 2 promos...also true (i know, im psychotic)
LostVixen26 08-28-2005, 03:03 AM You suffer through movies because someone from Lost is part of the cast(in my case Rollerball)

Actually you aren't cause I do the same thing for both things you said, Mo. :)
elfdream 08-28-2005, 01:43 PM You HATE Entertainment reporting and Entertainments Shows but you watch them anyway because there might be a tiny mention of LOST or a quick mention of ANY cast member doing ANYTHING!:p
nonnyd 08-28-2005, 11:21 PM ...your son calls to you to get out of the way of his bike and you reply, "No problem; I'm surprisingly spry."

nonnyd 08-29-2005, 12:27 AM Hey! I found it here, among the "Reply to Thread" choices. I think that Trebuchet should become the official posting font of The Fuselage!

lostfan88 10-05-2005, 09:32 PM .... you've successfully "converted" you friend into a Lost fan. I have another friend but she doesn't love it as much as I do.

But...You know when you are obsessed with LOST when....

:nuts:You are really upset that you are the only one in your family and within your immediate close friends that watches LOST, and no one will listen to you anymore about it and you think and wonder what is wrong with them....because obviously something has to be wrong with them if they won't even consider watching it.
:nuts:When everyone at your job dreads Thursday mornings because they know you will give them a synopsis, very thorough I might add, of last night's LOST episode...because even though they don't watch - you will make sure they know one way or the other.
:nuts:When you actually (and I just did this last night) play the lottery with the numbers and feel that it was meant to be cause the payout is at 15 million dollars ;)
:nuts:You are more conscious of the numbers in your everyday life. Like when it is 8:15 am or pm...doesn't matter.
:nuts:Being outside and wondering "What Would Locke Do"...and God forgive me, wonder if they should make up little bumper stickers like the ones they have for Jesus WWJD and make up ones for LOST fans...WWLD
:nuts:When one of your coworkers has a Netflix account and said coworker doesn't watch the show .... and she always keeps her Netflix account up on the screen minimized and you actually contemplate when she is away from her desk or at lunch to go and put LOST Season 1 disc 1 on the number one position on her movie queue.... :roflmao:

Breast fed or bottle fed? Breast fed babies need to eat more often. Bottle fed babies tend to sleep through the night sooner. I would say at least 6 months but every baby is different.

TheMole171 10-29-2005, 12:43 AM ...when you get im-ed about 40 bazillion times on this past wed b/c people were freaking out that Lost was a repeat...(true story...NO ONE knew it was a repeat)
SawyerLuv108 10-29-2005, 09:08 AM When you're bored you repeat the numbers over and over again. (guilty :) ) It's also fun to see how many people look at you funny.
done that.
dr_jack 10-29-2005, 08:47 PM You can't think of anything else but Lost in your Government class because your studying John Locke and his Natural Law. (did this today)
Try "I saw John Locke on my test the other day and did a double take because 'pressing the button' was not a multiple-choice answer."
stircrazy 10-30-2005, 01:21 AM Try "I saw John Locke on my test the other day and did a double take because 'pressing the button' was not a multiple-choice answer."

This is very sad.:frown:
On the other hand, you know you're obssessed with LOST when you understand the pain expressed in this post.
TheMole171 10-31-2005, 06:37 PM ...when someone sends you a halloween candy gram signed "Lost Star"...:-P
LostEnchantment 10-31-2005, 07:14 PM done that.

LostElphie1287 11-01-2005, 12:51 PM When you cry when you see that the Fuselage is pink and cutesy for halloween, instead of its pretty green and black!
notlost, justexploring 11-02-2005, 10:45 AM when you've been on the lage long enough to KNOW that pink is the wrong color!
LostVixen26 11-02-2005, 12:41 PM When people get the screaming about the hatch from Halloween
LockeHurleySawyer 11-02-2005, 04:58 PM When you dream about something you've seen on it:
I had a dream 1 night ago that my hubby had a cut (an open one) on his knee and for some strange reason I had a bullet on me and opened it and poured gunpowder on it. In the dream he said 'what are you doing that for?' and I said 'cause Sayid did it to Charlie and lit it a match to it so it would stop the bleeding'. Strange thing is that is all I can remember. I don't think I ever lit the match. Hmm?

LockeHurleySawyer 11-02-2005, 10:59 PM did you have any mini-bottles of vodka to wash it out?
No, unfortunately I didn't - I already used them up....LOL! :24:
notlost, justexploring 11-03-2005, 12:08 AM you know you're obssessed when you can read posts about dreams that connect to Lost and think, "Well, that's perfectly normal. I could understand that happening."
When you have needed to read 735 posts on this thread to realize your not alone
when you realize you could have restated your last point such that it would be a lost quote
when you list driveShaft as one of your favorite bands
you wish you had 400 knives
LostElphie1287 11-03-2005, 09:59 AM when posting on the Lage is the only way that you can make it through the day without pulling your hair out
lumpia 11-03-2005, 08:13 PM when you designate rooms in your house to be places on the island, stick lifesize cardboard cutouts of all the characters in relevant places around the "island", and fit your whole life around them.
the patio is the beach, the bedroom the caves, the living room the jungle, the TV the fuselage, the toilet the hatch, the shed Black rock, and your car/bike as the raft..
btw: tropicanacabana: love the avatar; i'm poopin myself laughin at it! LOL
tropicanacabana 11-03-2005, 09:39 PM When you're taking notes for history, see "John Locke," and immediately ditch the history homework to go online and look for lost-related stuff.

stircrazy 11-05-2005, 09:54 PM when you have had a horrible day and figure that Lost, The Fuselage and Guinness sound like the perfect escape.
Bescky 11-06-2005, 04:21 AM When you watch tv shows or movies and see a plane and automatically think about the island.
When you see things flying around inside of an airplane, because some man wants to jump out, you think of the very beginning of the series. (guilty)
sapphic16 11-06-2005, 05:54 AM True enough Bescky.. looks like LOST is really infectious.. makes us all delusional or something..
BooneShannon4evr 11-06-2005, 04:36 PM -You paint all of your fingernails black except for your left index finger. You paint that blue. (That is exactly how my nails are right now.)
