From all of the extras on the DVD and from various rumours (if you believe them), the basic layout of the LOST saga has been developed for the next several seasons.

As the weekly episodic writers, how far in advance are you notified to produce a script for an episode? Do you get a chance to look at the "timeline" or are you given certain characters or stories to weave into your episode?

hi very lost -

thanks for your questions. the rumors are true, the creators and writers of the show know what's going to happen and much of the season was already mapped out when i joined the team back in june. but of course, that still leads a lot of room for creativity and making up what the scenes are going to be in each episode. plus, there are lots of changes that occur during the season. since our lead-time is so short, we can see immediately what's working and not and adjust our stories accordingly.

so essentially, while we have all the big beats figured out and we know all the answers to the big secrets, there is not a concrete set-in-stone "timeline" that tells us what each episode is going to be.

hope that answers your questions. thanks for writing :)
