First off, thank you to Spike13 for starting this idea in Things That Are Not Explained. Please post and add on any questions you might have and I will add them onto the Big List. As questions are answered, They will be moved to the ANSWERS thread. New subtopics will also be added as needed.
Please check the List to see if your question is already on there before you post a new question. This will be very helpful!
There is an ANSWERS thread in the General Theories forum to be used in conjunction with this one. (Link found in 1st post of this thread.) As answers are revealed in LOST, they will be noted on the list here as answered with an asterisk*. The ANSWERS thread will contain a brief answer, with an episode footnote or a link, if applicable. Only answers revealed in the show, or revalations given by the creators of LOST (In podcasts, answers given here or in interviews stating "This did happen," or "This did not happen.") will be taken as canon. Information found in the diary or other LOST websites are not considered canon. Questions regarding character's emotions/reactions/motivations are a bit harder to answer. Logically inferred answers (unless proven wrong) will be acceptable.
I appreciate any and all help that fellow posters can provide. This is a group effort. I only consider myself the Organizer, I'm not an authority on the show any more than anyone else here. If you notice an answer to a question on the list, please post on the ANSWERS thread and I'll get it organized, okay?
Thank you all for your help in this endeavor!!

notlost, justexploring 11-02-2005, 10:50 AM Jack -- I also want to understand the connection between Jack and Desmond. Why was Jack so emotional when speaking to him? Why did he get so upset? Why did Desmond remember with such VIVID detail a random meeting 4 years earlier?
Honbun26 11-02-2005, 11:52 AM Thanks, Kristina! Sometimes, I wish I had a play list handy so I can keep up with all of the background/5-liner islanders.
Marine - that's a good idea (editing our posts), but we can't delete our posts, can we?
Baileysdad 11-02-2005, 12:06 PM One I have never seen...
When Hurley made the golf course...and Jack was over that putt...all the lostaways made wagers on him making or missing...then he hit it....
DID HE MAKE IT OR NOT!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!? I MUST KNOW!
Baileysdad 11-02-2005, 12:08 PM Ok, I got one.
Did Ethan actually have superstrength? From what?
and
The Swan Station
7. It eminates from the spotlight.
I'm thinking that maybe people could edit their own posts, also, to erase the new questions out of them once they've been posted. I feel inclined to read every one just to make sure that it's been posted...and I find out that Goddess is doing a fine job of keeping up with it. Then the thread length will be shortened a bit... if you don't want to... ::shrug::
Ethan was very strong...he was a large man with very thick muscles and could have easily overpowerd Claire and little elfin Charlie...
Wether he has super strength or not I am not sure but he was stronger than most men...remember...Jack beat him down and they are around the same size.
Baileysdad 11-02-2005, 12:51 PM I know it is a struggle for me to hoist a sqirmy, slapping and kicking 14 month old..
I do remember now he lifted him off the ground...forgot about that...that is amazing strength..perhaps he has the same injections Desmond has and they enhance your abilities...??
Speaking of the sqirmey one...time for our morning walk as she is rattling her tin up against the bars of her crib...oye..
lostandwaiting 11-02-2005, 02:04 PM Thank you Goddessblue for putting together such an extensive list of questions. No wonder we are all so obsessed...
I can't wait for the answers!
goddessblue 11-02-2005, 02:50 PM I´ll look after your post while you are sleeping ;)
Thank you Kristina! I appreciate it.
Okay, I get the hint!
Goddess - who else did you want to include?
Basically, I wanted to add anyone who's names we know so far....You got Rose and Cindy added (thank you!). I also had Sceve (still can't get those 2 straight, lol) and Bernard and Libby.
MarineOne, thanks for the hatch light answer!
One I have never seen...
When Hurley made the golf course...and Jack was over that putt...all the lostaways made wagers on him making or missing...then he hit it....
DID HE MAKE IT OR NOT!!!!!!!!!?!?!?!? I MUST KNOW!
Baileysdad, I think this is going to be one of those LOST mysteries that are never answered. I hope you and the "little monster" (I've seen your posts about Bailey! My husband calls our 2 y.o. daughter "Psycho" lol) had a nice walk this morning!
Belshep, I'm looking forward to getting more answers to the Kate questions in her upcoming epi. She's not my fave, but there are so many strings just hanging where she is concerned!
MarineOne had a fantastic idea about editing posts as answers come about. I would sooo appreciate it if you guys would do that! I remove the questions as they are answered, so it would be awesome to go into the thread to see what HAS been answered as we go along!!
spike13 11-02-2005, 03:33 PM [edit] removed question re: Sceve - it was covered in list and partially answered [/ edit]
goddessblue 11-02-2005, 05:26 PM - What was/is the deal with Scott and Steve?
- why were they always getting mixed up?
- which one really got killed?
Found this in the Homecoming transcript:
Sawyer [walking up]
Guess old Steve drew the short straw.
Hurley
Dude, that was Scott.
[Shot of a burial mound.]
Hurley
Scott Jackson worked for an internet company in Santa Cruz. He won a sales prize: two week Australian vacation, all expenses paid. He was a good guy. Sorry I kept calling you Steve, man. Um, amen, I guess. I don't know how to end these.
So it was SCOTT that Ethan (was it really Ethan? LOL) offed. Not sure it's relevant to put the other questions in, since only one is still around. I'll go and change "Sceve" to Steve on the master list. Thanks for posting this Spike, made me go and search for the answer, lol!!!
ETA: L'ingOL @ myself......just checked the list and he ain't on it! Nuthin' to edit for now.
React 11-03-2005, 12:41 AM Goddess, Lenny, not Larry.
And Locke was a good hunter/tracker because he studied it for 8 years.
Krista - It shows Kate looking at the plane before she hops out of the car to run from the Police.
Great thread Goddess...and i'm still waiting to hear if its true they confirmed no to the "nanobots" theory.
CAN ANYONE CONFIRM SNOW? Can someone confirm there was really snow on the boat via a screen shot? I know they were dressed heavily, but i never really thought of that. Any theories behind the snow ?
Also as an edit, I just looked through all the stills, and they strangely dont have any more than 2 pictures of the boat. And i dont see any snow. I'm gonna watch tonight.
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 01:29 AM Miss Becky Thatcher, I added a new subtopic on the Nigerian Plane and added your questions. I sort of changed the last one. I added a question to the Misc. Lostaways about powers. I figured it sort of went along with having a vison, no? Thank you for the new questions! You can edit your post.
React. on the Larry/Lenny thing. I KNEW that. I KNOW that, lol. Edited the post. Thank you! I'm waiting for the answer, too, on the nanobot thing. I know I saw it somewhere and now I can't find it. I didn't correct the Locke question because studying something and hands on experience are two different things. We don't have proof that studying survival skills and hunting and tracking (while in or out of a wheelchair) are what made Locke the hunter he is. Until we see a flashback of Locke doing the sort of stuff he does on the island, it's still a question. Let me know on the snow thing!
Hey, and thanks for the kudos guys, but this is a team effort. I'm just the organizer.
Lostafarian 11-03-2005, 02:07 AM Hello...Lostafarian here,
This is my second post at the Fuselage, so forgive me as I poke around and get to know your site, and it's members. This seems like a really friendly place!
A couple of topics...
Yes. In my opinion there is definitely snow during the Walt abduction scene. At least, there is SOMETHING blowing around in the camera frames, esp. the closer shots of the "Captain", as he's talking with the raftees. If it's not snow, I don't know what it is, but it's definitely intentional. Once you see it, you can't help but see it in every subsequent viewing.

Mystery Question...
*How has the polar bear that Sawyer shot survived on a tropical island?*
I don't know to what extent the producers of the show pay to scientific accuracy, but based on what I've observed, they are meticulous when it comes to details, and this might be a big clue into the nature of the island itself.
A polar bear could not live for more than a few days in a tropical environment. There is a bigger difference between a polar bear and say, a grizzly, than simply the color of their fur, that would guarantee that it wouldn't survive.
Polar bears are different in that most of their individual hairs are hollow. This traps ultraviolet light, creating a heat and thermal barrier between their skin and the cold, arctic environment.
Biological scientists agree that a polar bear cannot survive for very long in temperatures above 50 degrees F.
So...
Where did the bear come from, and how is it still alive?
Questions always breed theories, and I have a few of my own, and I'll post them in more appropriate forums, as they occur to me.
Thanks for the thread!
~ Lostafarian
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 02:40 AM Welcome to the Fuselage Lostafarian!! Happy posting!
After seeing the Dharma Initiative film in Orientation and learning that they were doing experiements in zoology (specifically showing two polar bears fighting), the logical conclusion is that the polar bears are a Dharma experiment. I will add your question to the island subtopic until we learn more, however.
lostscape 11-03-2005, 02:40 AM Thanks!
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 03:34 AM Welcome to the 'lage Lostafarian, what a great username!
Thanks for the fabulous threat gb!
Here are a couple of questions rattling 'round in my brain.
Shannon - Was her father killed by Sarah?
Miscellenous - Why, after 48 days, haven't the losties mapped the island?
Desmond - What was Desmond's solo race around the world? Why did his appearance change so drastically between the beginning and the end of MoS/MoF?
Rose - How did she know that Bernard was alive?
Charlie- How did he end up on the beach when he was up by the cockpit when the plane crashed?
Sawyer- How can one man be so handsome?
Thanks!
Lostscape, thanks for some new questions. I changed the Shannon question a bit. I don't think it's fair to say Sarah killed him since they were both alive when they got to the ER, ya know? A couple others I have answers for. Desmond's solo race around the world was just that. A solo race, by boat. The difference in appearance can be attributed to the amount of time (4 years, I believe?) since he and Jack last met. I know, you're going to say that you mean when we see him working out, making a shake, etc. right? But we never got a clear shot of him then. The different times thing is addressed in the hatch section (re: props). The Rose question was answered during her talk with Charlie. She tells him she has faith. Charlie did make to a seat and strap in. He was in the same section Boone and Shannon were in after he came out of the bathroom. (Business class, I believe.) LOL on the Sawyer question, that kinda stuff goes in the groups forum.
Kristina  Corrected the Sceve reference. Thanks for the head up!
gb
Furi161 11-03-2005, 04:15 AM I don't see it on the master unanswered list, so it's probably been answered already. But just in case, Jack did make his putt. See the diary, day 14.
Kristina 11-03-2005, 04:18 AM Told you before GB, I watch over the thread while you are sleeping ;)
Got another question for the list, about both hatches;
- What is the significane of there being different symbols in the middle of the dharma symbol in the two stations? An yet enother different symbol on the sharks tail?

belshep 11-03-2005, 09:36 AM goddessblue, your plan for next Wed. sounds good. I'm now going to delete all my previous posts that discussed the thread organization. Thanks again for all your effort, this is a great thread!
MarineOne 11-03-2005, 10:05 AM I don't remember ever hearing that Locke studied the outback, survival skills, anything like that for 8 years... When was that mentioned? And I agree, Goddess, that doesn't fully explain why he's so good. You think he'd appearing uncertain of things; instead, he goes at it like a pro.
ETA: You know what else we could add to the answers list? When a question is answered, wherever, we could put a little footnote with the episode number or a link to page containing a statement by one of TPTB that answers a question.
EX:
7. Why did ..... try to .... when he saw .....?
A: Because ...... (Ep 2.08) OR Javi's Statement (http://www.notarealhyperlink.com)
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 01:14 PM Kristina, Honbun and Shootfire, I got all of your questions up, thanks!
Shoot- I didn't add the "Does Michael have powers?" question. So much speculation has been rampant regarding powers and just about everyone on the island. (I could pretty much add that to everyone's list.) So I added a question to the Misc. Lostaways regarding all of them. Hope that's okay.
Marine One, I LOVE your idea about adding an episode footnote and link to the answers thread!!! But your gonna have to teach me how to do the link thing, lol.
spike13 11-03-2005, 01:33 PM [edit ] removed first question, already in list [/ edit ]
2 - If it is a different person, is it also a different Hatch?

I don't remember this either. I don't think it was explained.

This is a good idea!! I like it.
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 01:39 PM Thanks Kristina!
1 - Who was the first guy we see in the hatch, season 2 episode 1?
At first it's easy to assume it's Desmond but we only see him from behind. In the opening hatch shots the hatch is clean and new. When desmond is in the hatch it's old and dirty.
2 - If it is a different person, is it also a different Hatch?
Spike, I added a new question to the Swan Station, and edited question #14 in that section as well. Thanks!
Honbun26 11-03-2005, 01:52 PM On November 9th, I will start a new thread to be used in conjunction with this one, titled "ANSWERS-The Big LOST Unanswered Questions List." The new thread will be strictly for proven answers to questions that are presently on the list in this thread. As answers are revealed in LOST, I'll remove the question from this list to the ANSWERS thread with the answer to the question. A footnote with the episode number, or a link (if applicable) will also be added. This new thread should contain no theory or speculation!! Only answers revealed in the show. Since I'm on PST, I will get the thread going before you eastcoasters see the show (that means I gotta get it up by 6pm, right?). I need your help with this guys, it's a group effort, okay? So if you find answers, go ahead and post 'em, and I'll get them in the first post on the thread for easy reference.
gb
Goddess - I feel like I should print off your list next Wednesday so I can write any answers down. Come to think of it, maybe I'll do just that!
very-lost 11-03-2005, 01:58 PM Another question to add: Who was Boone talking to in the nigerian plane when the response came back "WE are the survivors of Flight 815"? From the most recent episodes it wasn't the A-L's bunch because it appears they do not have a radio or anything else electronic.
spike13 11-03-2005, 02:05 PM Another question to add: Who was Boone talking to in the nigerian plane when the response came back "WE are the survivors of Flight 815"? From the most recent episodes it wasn't the A-L's bunch because it appears they do not have a radio or anything else electronic.
The tail survivors do have a radio, it was shown in the last episode. As of yet though, it's still uncofirmed if it was or was not the tail survivors who answered Boone's radio call.
edit to add spoiler
MarineOne 11-03-2005, 03:06 PM I was thinking the same thing, Spike, but am wondering now if that was just in the previews and not actually in the last episode. In which case, it would still be a good question: Who was Boone talking to? until we are told for sure that they were in contact with someone saying that. Of course, only Boone knew that he was talking to someone so it would be on Locke's shoulders to put two and two together.
spike13 11-03-2005, 03:13 PM oops...thanks. I spoiled my previous post. Good point. It should be added.
Honbun26 11-03-2005, 03:18 PM Marine and Spike - spoiler font isn't necessary. The radio was discussed in the last new epi ...And Found:
ANA-LUCIA: Let's go. We're moving out now. Cindy, water. Libby, can you carry the radio?
SAWYER: Wait, you have a radio? Does it work? Can you use it?
ANA-LUCIA: Wow, what a great idea! You going to slow us down?
It's just not clear if the radio works. I assumed from AL's snarky remark that the radio is broken or that the batteries ran out.
MarineOne 11-03-2005, 03:22 PM Ahh, good clarification honbun! The line between what actually happened and just what I know is going to happen from previews or the spoiler board becomes real hazy sometimes. So then, good catch, Spike.
goddessblue 11-03-2005, 04:08 PM Another question to add: Who was Boone talking to in the nigerian plane when the response came back "WE are the survivors of Flight 815"? From the most recent episodes it wasn't the A-L's bunch because it appears they do not have a radio or anything else electronic.
Very-lost, you sparked some new questions with your post! Thanks!
Spike, Marine One and Honbun, thanks for the clarification here. Honbun, thanks for putting up the Ana Lucia/Sawyer exchange.
In AF it was proven that the Tailaways have a radio. At this point, we do not know if:
a. the radio works/batteries ran out/they are saving the batteries/it's trashed.
b. Boone was talking to one of the Tailaways in the Nigerian plane.
c. Locke knows/heard the exchange.
All Q's will be added.
Here is the Boone on the radio thing from Deus ex Machina:
(The following is from www.twiztv.com (http://www.twiztv.com/))
(In pain, Boone reaches for the handset pushes himself up to try the radio
again.)
BOONE: (to radio) Hello. Hello. Anybody out there? Mayday, mayday.
LOCKE: Boone, there's no time. Get out now!
VOICE (MAN): (from radio) Is someone there?
BOONE: (to radio) Hello! Hello!
(Boone gets more static.)
BOONE: (to radio) Can you hear me?
VOICE (MAN): (from radio) Repeat your transmission, please.
(The plane creaks and bobs. It's not going to last much longer.)
BOONE: (to radio) Hello, we're survivors of the crash of Oceanic Flight 815.
LOCKE: (o.s.) Boone, get out!
BOONE: (to radio) Please copy.
VOICE (MAN): (from radio) Hello ...
LOCKE: Get out now!
VOICE (MAN): (from radio) (muffled through burst of static) ... survivors of
Oceanic Flight 815.
[Notes: In the May 29, 2005, issue of TV Guide (p.26), "You Asked, They Answered
(If a Bit Cryptically)", Damon Lindelof confirms that Boone heard, "We're the
survivors ... ". On April 1, 2005, Damon Lindelof writes at the Fuselage that they "purposefully put the CREAK over the first part of the transmission...".]

goddessblue 11-03-2005, 10:12 PM Jezz & Belshep, I added you questions. Belshep I didn't add the Walt question. It was originally on the list, but if you look at post #3 here, Kristina said that Walt had been playing with matches near the raft. *Can anyone confirm this for me??* If not, I'll add it back to the list.
I had to edit part of post #1 and move it to post #2. I was like 400 characters over the limit and no matter how hard I tried I couldn't get it all to fit in post #1. Man, I'm starting to think I should've saved more than the first 2 posts for the list!!! We'd better get some answers soon!!!
I just noticed I hit economy today! Yay me, lol!
gb
goddessblue 11-04-2005, 01:36 AM Goddessblue, no problem on the "does Michael have powers" question. I think there's a lot more evidence that suggests he does than most other lostaways, but I can accept that you are skeptical. My only problem is that it is not listed yet in the miscellaneous questions about people having powers. There is a question about people having visions, but that doesn't apply to Michael, as he hasn't had one. I think it's a pretty big question to not make the list in a general way at least.
The diary writer suggested that she had seen Walt playing with matches, but there was never anything in the show to suggest it AFAIK. We have been told by the writers that unless we see it onscreen during primetime it is not cannon. While I can understand the logic, I don't think there's proof.
Shoot, I understand what you're saying on the Michael and powers thing. Do you think I can word it different in the Misc. Lostaways section? I have it listed as: "How many of the Lostaways have "powers"? (Feeling things, making things happen, having visions?) Who?" If you can help me clarify it more, I will reword the question.
Thank you for the information on the Walt question. I only take information given on the show as proof. I will reinsert the question.
goddessblue 11-04-2005, 01:57 AM Your wording is fine goddessblue. I think I probably edited my post before you wrote your latest one. I was just looking in the wrong place.
LOL, we're posting at the same time. Thanks Shoot.
Jetschick 11-04-2005, 11:15 AM HI all..I'm new to this posting thing so please be patient w/ me...
This is a great thread you started GB  and I can't wait to find the answers to all of these questions.
I am hopeful this will happen before I lose my mind from this show...although I tend to think that with each new epi we will be adding more questions instead of answers...uggh..which will make us more LOST!
goddessblue 11-04-2005, 01:03 PM Jetschick, That's a great question regarding the maps! It doesn't have to be spoiler tagged, though, since it was in the show. I'm not going to add the Q about Jack's tatoo at this point, though. His tatoos haven't come into play in the show (i.e.: a camera close up for a specific reason), except for that time Kate said, "Hey Charlie...Ask Jack about his tatoos," in a teasing way. Charlie came back with one of his funny comments. Can't remember what he said, but I remember I laughed. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the creators are going to explain Jack's tatoos. (They are really Matthew Fox's but they're going to have Jack explain them or something.)
goddessblue 11-04-2005, 01:24 PM Danielle
Was her distress call a general call to anyone for help? If it was, then how would someone unfamiliar with the island know where the Black Rock was or what it was, much less who Brennan/Brandon was, or about the key?
Shoot, good Danielle Q. But I changed it a bit. At first I had it as:
11. Was her distress call a general call for help or aimed at someone specific? If it was a general call for help, how would just anyone know about the Black Rock, what & where it is, who Brandan is and about Brandon taking the keys?
But then I changed it to just the first sentence after I thought about it. Because if it were just a general call for help the correct answer to all the questions in the second part is, "They wouldn't."
Jetschick 11-05-2005, 10:34 AM Is it Wednesday yet? LOL
Also not sure if this was answered... wouldn't there been some piece of Danielle or Desmond's ship around somewhere? Or did both sink? Was this ever addressed on an epi?
goddessblue 11-05-2005, 08:10 PM Is it Wednesday yet? LOL
Really, seriously considering adding this question to the list!!!
Also not sure if this was answered... wouldn't there been some piece of Danielle or Desmond's ship around somewhere? Or did both sink? Was this ever addressed on an epi?
I'm thinkin', since the tide surged up and took the fuselage with it, the same could be said for Danielle and Desmond's boats. The fuselage would've been much heavier. So I'm not going to add this question for now. I'll keep this post here and add the Q later if it comes up, okay?
The Sceve Thing
OK! Been doing some reasearch on the whole Sceve thing. I'm probably way behind a lot of posters here on this issue. But I wanted to put this out there. I changed everything on the BLU-Q list back to "Sceve." (See post #17 on this thread.) After reading a ton of posts on this issue I found that: A. We are assuming it was Ethan who killed one of them. B. The Lostaways said it was Scott who died, but it was really Steve who was the dead body referred to as Scott. C. Scott was at the funeral & never corrected this mistake, even though everyone else believe that Scott was being buried. (Is Scott taking on Steve's idenity?) I have 2 questions I would appreciate any help with:
1. Did both Scott and Steve appear in the episode where Sawyer was having his headaches? The one where Jack makes those hysterical glasses for him. I believe this episode is after Homecoming where Sceve died, was it?
2. Have Dustin Watchman (Scott) and Christian Bowman (Steve) been credited as the other in episodes?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide on these questions. I don't have the S1 DVDs yet (Christmas!!!), and can't check. And going through the transcripts is hard work, especially when you can't SEE actors who may not have a line in a particular episode.
goddessblue 11-06-2005, 07:16 PM Belshep, I added your Q's! You are so awesome for coming up with tons!! BTW, who is the 2nd Brian? Walt's stepdad and...?
TabbyRasa, I sorta changed your Q in the Hurley section. Thanks!
PS
don't forget to delete your posts, if applicable! :)

Kristina 11-07-2005, 05:48 AM Hi again GB! I deleted some of my previous posts, but left the one with the links to pics of the three Dharma symbols we have seen on the island so far.
About Walt playing with matches - I know it was in the diary, but I cannot remember if I heard it on the show as well. I will take a look!

Okay..Thanks, GB
One other thing..on Kate's list, about the toy plane ..didn't the Marshall say that he put the toy plane in the safety deposit box. I remember something about this but not sure. I think when the Marshall was talking... maybe to a guard in the airport. Not sure. I don't have DVD's yet either(can't wait until Christmas) I'm pretty sure it was discussed in a thread too, but I can't find it now
Also I like to know who the 2nd Brian is too!
Honbun26 11-07-2005, 12:23 PM Okay..Thanks, GB

From Exodus Part 1
Australian Official [pulling the toy plane out of the case]
What's this, then?
Marshal
That's a good story, you want to tell it, huh Kate? [He grabs the plane] This belonged to her childhood sweetheart who she got killed a couple of years ago when she was on the run. Poor guy - a wife, a 2 year old kid. What was his name? Hmm? Well, somewhere along the way during the 3 years I was chasing her, she's starts calling me, at my house, and whining on about her mitigating circumstances. But what she's really doing is taunting me. So, I tell her that I've got whats-him-name's little toy airplane in a safe deposit box in New Mexico. So, she somehow figures out which bank, which safe deposit box. She seduces some idiot to rob the damn bank, and then she puts a bullet in her new friend because she's done using him. But she leaves all the money. She just takes the plane because that's the one thing in the whole world that Kate does care about. She has no attachments, and I think she's telling herself she needs it to atone for killing her boyfriend, whats-his-name. God, Kate, c'mon what was his name?
[Kate jumps up and pins the Marshal to the wall.]
Jetschick 11-07-2005, 12:49 PM Honbun,
Thanks for posting that! It's hard to remember everything from last season...way too much info to retain in this show..I appreciate it.
So I guess that answers 11 & 12 under Kate, Goddess...
Hello, all. This is my first post. I didn't see my questions in your gorgeous and extensive list, but my apologies if they are dupes.
Re: The Island
The numbers that brought Danielle to the Island: She recorded over the original transmission with her own French SOS allegedly 16 years ago. Hurley tracked down Sam Toomey (sp?) to the Australian outback where his widow confirmed that 16 years prior Sam had heard the numbers broadcast.
Q1a - Is this the same broadcast that Danielle's science team heard?
Q1b - Why is there no mention of hearing Danielle's changed transmission?
Q1c - In changing the transmission from the radio tower, has she inadvertently ended the transmission of the numbers?
Q1d - If ships/communications teams hear the broadcast of the numbers but not of her transmission, is that an indicator of multiple broadcast sites?
Q1e - Given that the numbers are no longer being transmitted from that particular source, what effect has that had/is that having on the Island? (presumption: that the broadcast from that source or multiple sources on the Island, as triggered by computer input or other means, is meant to be in conjunction with all the Dharma Initiativestations in the "communo-research compound" and not to be altered)
Re: Danielle
Q2 - why, since she is at least bilingual, would she not have repeated her plea in English also?
goddessblue 11-07-2005, 06:05 PM TY goddessblue, and for maintaining this list.
However, I don't think we've been shown (yet) that Starla found out about Hurley's win. Granted, with the news coverage we saw in the flashback, she certainly found out at some point.
You're welcome! Hmmm, I changed your question a bit for a couple of reasons. You are correct that we don't know if Starla has found out about Hurley's win (yet). Though we do know that Johnny found out and seemed a bit disillusioned by the fact that a. Hurley didn't tell him and b. his best friend is now rolling in dough. So I changed the Q to "What happened w/ Hurley's friends Johnny & Starla after they found out he won the lottery?" The list is growing so much that I have to sometimes change around the wording of questions to make them more consise. (I really hope that people are not offended by my rewording and understand this!) And sometimes one question will spark another question. So if I can conbine them, it helps me out. Did that make sense?
Kristina - I'm 99% sure that the thing about Walt playing with matches was only in the diary. For the BLU-Q List we just taking things that happen or are said on the show as canon. If anyone finds out otherwise, that Walt was messing with matches on the show, please let me know!
Honbun, here's a big  on your cheek! Thanks for posting the excerpt from Exodus 1. We've got our first couple of official answers now! Thanks for the new Q's, too. I haven't added them yet. I will get to it presently. And I'm gonna add the Helen Q. There are other "speculation" questions on the list, as well. That's part of getting the answers, lol. I hope we can move the Helen Q later with a "No," next to it, though, lol. I love Katy Segal and don't want Helen to turn out to be a plant. (That's just me, though!! )
s2k, welcome to the fuselage!! Excellent questions on your first post, thank you very much! I had to do a bit of head scratching trying to organize my wording around your questions. Lemmie see if I got this straight, here are the questions I am going to add:
The Island
1. Did Danielle & her team hear the same transmission broadcast that Sam & Lenny did?
2. Since Danielle changed the transmission, is anyone hearing her distress call?
3. Is there more than one radio tower/broadcast source on the island? (Could it be that Danielle's transmission and the numbers transmission are both being broadcast at the same time from two different sources?)
Danielle
1. Since she is bilingual, why didn't she record her distress call in both French and English?
A few questions of my own, if anyone could help me out here. On Q #3, would the two transmissions interfere with each other? I'm not knowledgeable about radio towers and such. Also, did Sam Tooney's wife say it was 16 years ago that he heard the transmission? I am going to check the Numbers transcript for this info.
Danielle did say that she changed the transmission from the numbers to her distress call. So ships or other communications teams would not be hearing the numbers. If anything, they'd be hearing her distress call (presently, island time, that is). Sam & Lenny heard the numbers. So either they heard the same transmission Danielle's team did, or they heard it earlier than she and her team did. Unless question 3 above turns out to be true.
Excellent Danielle question, btw.
I have to get my son from school right now, so I'll add the new questions in a little bit. I'm also going to try to get the new ANSWERS thread started today, since we have some.
gb
Honbun26 11-07-2005, 08:43 PM Goddess - I missed you! Where have you been? :frown: Thanks for the smackaroo!
As for the 2 transmissions - why not? We get how many radio stations on FM and AM? Isn't it as long as they are using a signal on a different bandwith then they won't interrupt?
goddessblue 11-07-2005, 09:27 PM Hi yourself Honbun! Just been uber busy here. Three kids and "real life" do that to you, lol!
I think you're totally right on the radio tower thing. Seriously, s2k's Q's really made me think. Some of them seemed to contadict each other. If there are 2 radio towers, it really could throw things for a loop. If there is only one, the questions remain on the timeline of when they each heard the transmission. I left a couple of questions for the mods regarding the 2 List threads. I'll put the answers thread up as soon as I hear from them! I still need to get the new questions up on the list as well. It's almost time to start dinner, so I will be sure to do it tonight after the kids go to bed.
Not enough hours in the day! Not enough time on the 'lage, lol!
ETA: All new questions have now been added to the list.
Kristina 11-08-2005, 05:47 AM Hi again everybody!
I have looked through the transcripts and not found any further reference to Walt and matches. However, since I refuse to believe in parapsychology I still think that is the most logical explanation ;)
About the questions regarding Walt though;
Perhaps number 1 should be changed to DO Walt have powers, and if so are he aware he has them? We still don´t know that he has powers, Brian told Michael that Walt was different, but that isn´t the same thing as having paranormal powers.....
And number 9; How did Walt turn the raft on fire? I mean, he could have used matches, a burning log from the large fire etc.
About Kate questions 11 and 12; The Marshal put the plane in the safe deposit box and he also was the one telling her about it. Stated in Exodus when the Marshal was talking to the air port security.
goddessblue 11-08-2005, 12:57 PM Hi Kristina! Thanks for your input. I went and changed the Walt question's wording around. As far as the Kate, Q's, we figured those 2 out. I want to get the Answer List up asap, but I'm waiting on a question I posted for the mods. (Maybe I should just PM one of 'em today?)

Everybody:
OH and I checked the dates in Numbers last night (see a few posts up). Sam Toomey's wife said Sam and Lenny heard them 16 years ago. (Coincides with Danielle's team. I think it's safe to say they heard the same transmission. Agree? So only one radio tower.) ALSO: discrepency in transcript??? Sam Toomey's wife said Sam and Lenny heard them when they were in the Navy. But when Hurley goes to see Lenny and asks him where he heard the numbers, Lenny says it was Sam Toomey. "He heard them in Kalgoorlie. It's a town where he used to work...in Austrailia." It was late and I didn't get it all copied and pasted, just made a note of it. Comments?
ETA: I just put up a post on the Numbers thread regarding this. http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?p=587481#post587481
ETA - I did some reorganization today. Is it easy to follow? Just checking!
Sam G 11-09-2005, 03:24 AM Looks like Ihave a bunch of reading ahead of me. Great idea.
goddessblue 11-09-2005, 06:30 PM Yay! New epi tonight!!
If you have new questions to add, post 'em here on this thread after the show.
Don't forget to look for answers to questions on The List! If you find any answers, post 'em on the ANSWERS thread (here (http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=25158)), okay?
Great!
I will probably get stuff updated tomorrow. Since I'm on the west coast, I avoid the 'lage on Wed. nights until after I watch so I don't get spoiled.
Happy LOST watching everyone!!

MarineOne 11-09-2005, 06:41 PM Ok, going back to erase my previous threads (time permitting) after I post this.
Two things - First, the radio tower(s), AM/FM deal... My knowledge is limited on this subject, but I'm sure that the difference between AM and FM is that AM signals operate on a completely different frequency (hense, AM numbers being in the 1000's compared to FM's 88-107 range). SO, if they were listening to ultra low frequencies or long-range frequencies or whatever, it may be possible that only one transmission would be able to go out without interferring with another.
Second - When Hurley was talking to... Nevermind, I just answered my own question.
MissBeckyThatcher 11-09-2005, 07:30 PM A couple of other Charlie Q's:
In MofS,MofF, why did Charlie insist there weren't any others when he & Claire had been kidnapped by them?
Does Charlie remember more than he's telling?
Who really dropped Charlie's finger tape?
How did Ethan hang Charlie by himself or did he have help? (this one is sort of covered by the did Ethan work alone question:) )
Interesting Charlie Q thread over at http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=10861 (hope this works, I'm new at this)
goddessblue 11-09-2005, 08:46 PM Marine One, thanks for your input. I appreciate all the help you've given me here. Do you think I should leave Q. 20 up on The Island section? I've only seen the question of there possibly being more than one radio tower posed in this thread. Have you seen it elsewhere? I have always *assumed* that since Danielle has been on the island for 16 years, mapped it out, only revealed one radio tower "out by the Black Rock" that there was only one radio tower. (I like to respect all the questions posters have, though, know what I mean? But if it's irrelevant, it might not be needed in the list.)
Your Hurley non-question made me laugh, lol. Now I'm curious what it was.
MissBeckyThatcher, thank you for the Charlie questions! I've been waiting for Charlie questions! Your link did work. :) I haven't had a chance to check it out, but I promise I will! BTW, welcome to the fuselage!
Jetschick 11-10-2005, 01:38 AM Happy LOST day all.
Also wanted to point out when the Dr is talking to Shannon & Sabrina he says her dad was "in a head on collision with an SUV" but...when Sarah gave her toast to Jack at the rehearsal dinner she says " A little over 2 years ago I was driving in my convertable....tire blew out , hit head on w/ an SUV" and when she was wheeled in to ER the staff points out that Sarah was driving alone and Jack says "where's the driver of the SUV " and they wheel in Adam Rutheford so my Q is What gives? Think this could be just a continuity error or something more ? Any thoughts? Seems to me that would make 3 cars- 2 SUV's & a convertable, No?
Not for the list really but for my own piece of mind..
Since Shannon mentions to Boone that she's 18 at her father's wake & we know she is 20 on the Island as per Hurley's census than is it safe to assume that her dad died 2 years ago which would mean that's when Jack meet Sarah - 2 years ago..correct? This doesn't line up w/ Desmond saying he crashed on the island 3 years ago & him meeting Jack after Sarah's accident
Miscellaneous Question:
If the lostaways are willing to go down the hatch ... why not also explore the hole that Locke was almost pulled into when the security system grabbed him in Exodus (Part II)? (To be fair, Kate threw dynamite down the hole ... but since that seemed to extricate the weird black cloud 'security system' wouldn't it be safe as an unknown hatch to explore? It was a pretty big hole, and there could be clues as to how the security system works.)
btw - Jetschick, great catch: Not for the list really but for my own piece of mind.. MoS/MoF
Paramedic1: Her tire blew. Car jumped the divider, went head-on with an S.U.V.
Nurse: BP's dropping.
Jack: Was she driving?
Paramedic1: Yeah. Alone.
Jack: Where's the driver of the S.U.V.?
DNH
SARAH: A little over two years ago, I blew a tire out, flipped over the center
divider into oncoming traffic and was hit head-on by an S.U.V. My back was
broken. They all said it was irreparable. And then there was Jack. And he
promised that he would fix me because that's the kind of guy he is. Because you

No convertable is mentioned in the transcripts. Since the doctor lied once.....
I have to listen to Abandoned again.
Todell 11-10-2005, 06:52 PM Your right, Sam G---Sarah was in a head-on collision with an SUV, and so was Rutherford:
Doctor: Your husband was in a head-on collision with an SUV. He suffered masive internal injuries. He stopped breathing at the site of the accident.
Now. Here is the transcript from MoSMoF:
EMT: Her tire blew, car jumped the divider, went head-on with an SUV.
NURSE: BP's dropping.
JACK: Pericardial's pierced. Was she driving?
EMT: Yes, alone.
JACK: Where's the driver of the SUV?
[A man is wheeled in on a gurney.]
EMT #2: Adam Rutherford, 57, chest trauma, no breath sounds.
JACK [to Intern]: Tube Mr. Rutherford while I...
INTERN: I can't intubate, you've got to.
Notice! No one says Rutherford was the driver. It is just assumed. Were Sarah and Rutherford in the car together? Add that one to the list, please!
ETA: I just saw the intern say she was alone. Hmmm....
realfreckles 11-10-2005, 07:17 PM What is Claire using as diapers for Aaron?
Why is Aaron the size of a 3 month old already? And only on breastmilk!?
How come none of the girl's armpits are hairy yet?
eyebrows? Hair?
Why are Jack's wig and Boone's so bad? Is there a connection there?
Why is Sayid wearing the same tank top when there is plenty of clothes around?
Did Sayid and Shannon used any kind of protection?
Why didn't they eat the polar bear?
How come Hurley is not loosing weight?
How come Desmond didn't have a loyal friend like "Wilson"? everybody loves a cute volleyball.
Why the re-runs after only a few new episodes?
Sam G 11-10-2005, 09:07 PM Why didn't the Haliburton float?
Why is Jack still wearing the Key?
goddessblue 11-10-2005, 10:55 PM Whoo boy, lotsa new questions! Thanks! All the new questions have been added.
A couple of comments...
There is a thread I read today, maybe a couple, lol, about the timeline of Shannon's age, Sarah's accident and Jack and Sarah's wedding. I'll try and find it later and put up a link.
Realfreckles, I didn't add your questions. I can answer a few of 'em....I'm sure Aaron's diapers are made out of clothes from the luggage. What did folks do before disposables? They used cloth. Very young newborn babies are hard to cast on TV, all newborns on TV look like 3 month olds because in real life, they probably are. Hairy chicks don't good TV make. Your other Q's.....uhhhh dunno, but that's not the kinda questions for this list. (You did make me chuckle, though!)
SamG, I put up the key question, but it made me think... Did they get all the guns put back in the case? (Probably Jack's wearing the key to keep track of it.)
lightnshadows 11-11-2005, 12:25 AM I looked but didn't see these questions on the thread, just a few:
1. why is Everybody now hearing the whispers? or perhaps why are the whispers
now making themselves known to groups instead of individuals? ---answering
my second question:) , can we infer that the tailies as a group have heard them
before?....Ana hears them and tells everyone to run because perhaps they were
a precusor to being attacked or their people being taken, something more though
than that?...
2. why did Ana say it was "their island"?...generalized statement or something more
literal...what does she know?
3. possibly mentioned, didn't see: what did Libby mean when she mentioned "the
children"? (the attackers? their own? something else?)
also, a random thought/question that has a seemingly rational, easy answer but still makes me wonder:
....is there something about being in "the open" or near the water/beach that
makes you safer from the Others or whatever is out there kidnapping or killing?
...when Mr. Eko says they must take a different route that would cause them
to enter the jungle, Ana questions the decision by saying that Mr. Eko would
risk everyone for one person....as if staying on course out in the open they were
safe...now of course you can see who or what is coming
better out in the open to protect yourself, but it didn't help the rafties...
and considering that AL's group only has one bullet and she even admits that one
isn't going to do anything, why does she feel safe along the shore?....even as we
know there isn't the supernatural as an explanation, are the Others REALLY as
invulnerable as they're made out to be? ... are they powerful
enough to attack a group in broad daylight out in the open? (the ones on the boats
had guns, AL's group has a gun with ONE round)... they didn't, didn't
attack our original group either...they've been made out to be some
supernatural invulnerable beings but they're probably just a bunch of scared little
kids, well kids that kidnap and impale people Lol..
hmm.... it's probably nothing but the decision to not make it any easier for the Others
to get them in dense foliage...but it makes me listen to theories where there are multiple groups all over the place...
Jetschick 11-11-2005, 03:08 AM DNH

No convertable is mentioned in the transcripts. Since the doctor lied once.....
Sam G ...Sorry about that.. I realize now that she says she's in her convertable in the deleted scene Extended Toast on the DVD for The Lost Chronicles and she didn't say it in MOS/MOF. Do deleted scenes count? Why'd they take out the part about what kind of car she's driving. Could be an Easter Egg. Even still last night in Abandoned that Dr said Adam was in a head on collision with an SUV. If Adam was driving one wouldn't the normal thing to say be "with another SUV" ..Geez I don't know :undecide: ,I'm losing my mind..I think I have the sickness*OMG*
And what do you mean by since the doctor lied once?
Kristina 11-11-2005, 03:31 AM Why didn't the Haliburton float?
Why is Jack still wearing the Key?
The Halliburton contained 5 guns (how much do one gun weigh? Close to a kilo I would guess), and besides that it was stuck under a seat, Kate couldn´t get it free by herself, so it was probably stuck rather hard....
There is probably still guns in the halliburton, and it is hidden somewhere in the jungle. What I´m curious about however, is the rifles and automatics in the hatch. There were some rather nice hunting weapons there, and who is in charge of them?
Jetschick 11-11-2005, 11:31 AM Hey goddess..
I guess the bigger Q regarding Shannon is WHY was she killed/shot? (I'm not going to say she dead until we know for sure)
Was it a an accident or deliberate?
Sam G 11-11-2005, 05:37 PM Sam G ...Sorry about that.. I realize now that she says she's in her convertable in the deleted scene Extended Toast on the DVD for The Lost Chronicles and she didn't say it in MOS/MOF. And what do you mean by since the doctor lied once?Well, it seems no Dr. actually worked on Adam Rutherford. So they gave the info to who ever was in charge of the ER to break the news the Sabrina. Since he wasn't there he was just giving info second hand. He did say that Adam died at the crash and we know that's not true. Hum.....Maybe it was really Jack that the lawsuit was against.
goddessblue 11-12-2005, 04:01 PM I think I got all new questions added with just a couple of exceptions.
Why did A-L refer to the island as "their" island? Logically infering that this is habit since they only recently learned about the fuselage survivors.
Mr. Eko suggested the route through the jungle to get to the Lostaways quicker. (A-L says (paraphrasing) "You'd risk our lives to save him?")
Moving to the answers thread: Why didn't the haliburton float? (It was stuck under the seat/heavy.) Can someone help me out with the episode footnote for this? It was the epi where Kate and Sawyer swam by the waterfall. I'm thinking it's WTCMB???
Why is Jack wearing the key? (To keep track of it.)

ANSWERS thread has been edited.I should have said, why didn't the Haliburton float when Sawyer pulled it out from under the seat. 1) the Haliburton is water proof. 2) Even though it had 4 guns and 2 boxes of ammunition. We figured this out a long time ago, on another thread, the guns and the ammo max weighted 30lbs. the Haliburton roughly 5lbs. even if it was evenly distributed in the case the case would have floated. Anyone ever watch Letterman's "Will it Float?". Do you have noodles for your pool. They will push alot of weight to the surface.
Jack gave the Haliburton to Sayid. Wasn't it important that the case be locked anymore? Did Sayid give all the guns out so it wouldn't matter? If that's the case then there are 3 other guns from the Haliburton that could have also shot Shannon.

Thanks for helping me out with this, SamG. One question before I edit the ANSWERS thread to take the answer out....when Kate and Sawyer found the case in WTCMB, did Sawyer let go of it to see if it would float? I was stuck under the seat, that I remember. They had to tug at it to get it out. (I'm sorry, I don't have the DVD's at my disposal yet...) As far as I know, at this point, it didn't float because it was stuck. Any help with answering this would be appreciated.

I thought the Haliburton was buried/hidden under some foilage in the jungle. I asked a few posts ago if all the guns had been returned to the Haliburton. Still not sure about this. They were passed out when Ethan was at large. I must be forgetting something....when did Jack give the case to Sayid?

I remember now (with your prodding, lol) Jack giving the case to Sayid. I don't know why the case wouldn't have bobbed to the surface. (TY for the screen cap!) I did not see those threads you referenced before. (And I've had no personal Haliburton experience.) This might just be an error on the creators part? Do you think this is a significant plot point? I'm just not sure if the Haliburton floating/sinking will matter in the great big scheme of things.

We speculated that the case might be more important than just a case. It's just a pet peeve. We hadn't had the NUMBERS yet.
goddessblue 11-13-2005, 04:27 AM OK, so, specifically, you want me to put "Why didn't the Haliburton float?" back on the questions list? Just checking. Let me know, and I will.

Put it on the list, I'd still like to know if it was an error or not.
goddessblue 11-13-2005, 02:33 PM I actually did some searching on whether or not a Halliburton will float. Found out they're pretty damn indestructible, but didn't find out whether they can float. Even when I isolated the search, I would still get results with Dick Cheney...got to be too much to wade through this morning, the kids were starving, lol.
SamG, where is the thread here where you guys discussed this? I looked in the WTCMB forum and saw several threads on Halliburtons, but none arguing the "will it float?" question. I still would like to see proof that Halliburtons do float.
ETA - Just for clarification: The Halliburton did not float to the surface after the plane crash because it was stuck under the seat. However, when Sawyer tugged it free he had to drag it through the water, it did not bob to the surface. Going on the assumption that the Halliburton does float, I removed the question from the Answers thread and put the question back on the BLU-Q List.

pacejunkie 11-14-2005, 08:04 PM I actually had another question about the Halliburton when I saw WTCMB. Kate said the Marshall wasn't allowed to take the case on the plane and that he had to check it. If that's so, then why was the case found under the passenger's seats in such a way that made it look like it had been stowed under there? Shouldn't it have been tossed in a tree or on a mountainside somewhere like Charlie's guitar was?

(The airport official puts the key in the lock, twists and opens the Halliburton

AIRPORT OFFICIAL: Are you gonna be armed?

I have to disagree, the case wasn´t very big, it´s just an ordinary briefcase. It would hardly have so much buoyancy to pull a full grown man to the surface like a cork. Not to mention the 5 guns and 100 shots (that has to weigh something around 6 or 7 kilos). I guess one could do some calculations on that, but I have to admit not being that interested.....
Kristina 11-15-2005, 04:54 AM Only 4 guns were in the case. It's been explained to me each of the guns probably weights around 2lbs. The Haliburton weights 6-7lbs 2 boxes of ammo and a waterproof case filled with air in the rest of the space.
How much is that in kilos???
About the ammo, didn´t Jack say it was around 100 shots? How much does the lead in a 9mm bullet weigh? 10 grams?
goddessblue 11-15-2005, 01:35 PM I guess we also have to take into account the fact that the case would be water tight, to keep the guns and ammo dry. That air locked inside, wouldn't that give it cause to float as well?
LOL, I'm seriously considering putting up a section called "Probably Will Not Matter In The Grand Scheme Of Things, But People Wanna Know Anyway" questions. This is in no way a shot, lol, some of the questions I put on the list would go there, too!!
Also, how about a "Loose Ends" section? Shannon and Boone's questions could probably be moved there now.:ohwell:

LOL...Goddess.. I think you should put these up, if nothing else but for the humor factor:biggrin:
And the "Loose Ends" would probably be a good idea ..although I hate it if you have move stuff there on a regular basis...that would stink..or then something will happen and you can move back ...and then something else would happen and it's back to "Loose Ends" LOL. The way this show goes & how long the list is getting maybe there should be a "Really Don't Know Where to Put This Anymore, But Everyone Wants To Know Even Though We're Probably Never Going To Find Out " list!
Anyway, just wanted say the list is coming along nicely and seeing the new additions each week will be interesting. Your doing a really fine job I might add. Last Wednesday, I printed off the list so I would have for reference when watching and can jot stuff down so I don't forget..It took 6 pages to print it out ..HA! I was cracking up and my husband thinks I've LOST it now that I'm printing list of Q's not so much to answer the Q's but to add more to the list:biggrin: . Anyhoo..keep up the fine job!

That´s two great ideas GB!!!
Please put up a "Loose ends" section! And since we have some "loose ends" regarding Shannon and Boone, and there is no or very small chances that we will get any answers, I guess we could move most of the questions to that section. it might also be a great idea in keeping the list organized.
And about the other section, there are things on the show that probably doesn´t matter in the overall plot, but are interesting neverhteless... Like the briefcase-question ;)

Thanks for the new Q's and some answers. Also, did you see the thread about Eko not talking possibly having to do with atonement? Found that interesting. He didn't talk for 40 days, soooo many 40 references in the Bible, and we know he was spiritual. Could this also be inferred?
I'll update this list this afternoon during naptime when I have some peace and quiet around here! Any more new questions or answers anyone?? Huh? Huh? ;)
Honbun26 11-17-2005, 02:52 PM Goddess! I think I hit the submit button when my boss came into my office and I forgot to fix it! Anyways, I was gonna say, I think you should rename the section about the Tailites hatch to just the Arrow Hatch.
Yes, I read through several of the posts about religious references to 40 days. There was another thoughtful poster that found that 40 days are also important in a Nigerian religion. I 'll have to go search for that post, but apparently it is also a length of time for appropriate mourning.
Oh, I miss those naptimes! An hour or 2 just for myself...sigh...

goddessblue 11-17-2005, 06:32 PM Goddess - I wanted to give you my new questions and the answers before I forget:
General Tail Section
Why do the Others have a list?
How did the Others make up the list and was it created before or after the crash?
Misc. Questions - Tail Section
5. AL states the Others took 3 of the Tailies....? We know 1 died from an infection that started with the broken leg. Was AL counting Goodwin in that 23? If so, then AL killed him. Nathan was killed by Goodwin. Still don't know about the other 3.
Hey Honbun! *waves* I got all your Q's and A's updated. The only exceptions are what I quoted above.
Goodwin made the list. He told A-L when they were on their little "walk." The first people taken the first night were taken because they were strong. Goodwin infiltrated the group and made the list of who next to take. (Am I remembering this right or am I inferring it? LOL I need to watch it again.) Also, I think I accounted for the other 3 tailies in my answer on the ANSWERS thread.
Thanks so much, Hon!

Shadowspel 11-18-2005, 03:11 AM Goddess,
I don't know if this is covered with why Walt wanted to get off the island (or someplace else) but after he touched Locke, Walk said don't open it...don't let that thing out. What was he refering to (Desmond?) or is there another "thing" that escaped when they blew that hatch open. Finally, why was he so afraid of it?
Honbun26 11-18-2005, 10:05 AM Hi Goddess! :wavey:
Shadowspel - welcome to the 'Lage! Here is the transcript:
Locke: You think because I know you burned the first raft that I think you made your dad sick? [Walt nods.] We're friends, Walt. I didn't tell on you before and I'm not going to tell on you now. [He puts his hand on Walt's wrist.] And I know you would never do anything to hurt your dad.
[Walt looks down at Locke's hand and pulls his arm away.]
Locke: What's the matter?
Walt: Don't open it.
Locke: What'd you say?
Walt: Don't open it, Mr. Locke. Don't open that thing.
Locke: What? What thing?
Walt: Just don't open it.
goddessblue 11-18-2005, 01:49 PM Goddess,

Welcom to the 'lage Shadowspel!
Honbun, thanks for posting the relevant transcript.
Ok, so Walt didn't say "don't let that thing out," he just said "dont open it." The thing about this transcript excerpt that I do find interesting is the order of things.
1. Locke and Walt are speaking about the raft.
2. Locke touches Walt.
3. Walt looks down and pulls away.
4. Then Walt goes on a "Don't open it" tangent. Completely unrelated to what they had been speaking about.
IMO, Walt got some sort of "knowing" transfer from Locke when Locke touched him.
[Walt looks down at Locke's hand and pulls his arm away.]
Locke: What's the matter?
Walt: Don't open it.
This goes into the Walt's Powers thing already on the list, so I'm not adding it. But I do think this is the most important part of the exchange.
Honbun26 11-18-2005, 03:45 PM I definately agree. It was the touch between the 2 that gave Walt special insight. Of course, the question still remains:
was it Locke sending the info, or
Walt picking up the info, or
a combo platter?

That's the $42,000 question! (Does that platter come with fries? is the $23,000 Q, btw.)
Still, it ties in with the question of who has powers already on the list.

(Walt pulls his arm out of Locke's touch and takes a frightened step backward.)
LOCKE: What's the matter?
WALT: Don't open it.
(Walt backs away from Locke.)
LOCKE: What did you say?
WALT: (urgently) Don't open it, Mr. Locke. Don't open that thing.

WALT: (insistent) Just don't open it!
I have a few questions from The other 48 Days:
Why did A-L touch Goodwin's finger when she took the piece of mango from him? (Just before the fight?)
Why did Nathan want to get to the beach? (When Goodwin broke his neck.) If he was an Other, it seems he would have known the island very well.
How did Jin know that Michael and Sawyer had washed ashore? I don't think he could have seen them from where he was but it looked deliberate and he seemed to started yelling right away.
Eleri 11-18-2005, 07:43 PM Hubby and I argue like crazy over Sun's #2 question. I say that it's not outside the realm of normal for someone from an Asian country to have a decent understanding of herbal medicine, especially in the capacity we've seen her use it (Eucalyptus for Shannon, headache for Sawyer, nasty stomach cramps for Jin/Michael), because they most often use medicines in plant form. Hubby says that her knowledge is too specialised to be explained by culture, and that she had to have studied, but when would a rich girl study herbal medicine?
Shadowspel 11-18-2005, 08:25 PM I guess I was smoking somthing when I saw that episode. Don't know how I messed up the dialog so bad. Still, I am much more curious as to what he saw rather than if he has powers or not or how they work. Whatever it was seemed to not only scared him but almost seemed to anger him by the way he responded. As before mentioned, it was enough to change his mind about staying on the island.
On a side note about walt's powers, has any discussion been given to the amount of time after he was abducted from when he appeared to Shannon the first time? If it was Walt sending, and it was after he was abducted, not much time could have passed before he started to appear.
Thanks for not crucifying me about the misremembered dialog.
Shadowspel 11-18-2005, 08:33 PM Guess I should have added this above, but I just thought about it after rereading Eleri's comment. Everyone seems to know a hell of a lot in thier area of expertise than I would think is "normal". Jack's medical/scientific knowledge, Sahid's technical abilities, Daniel's construction talents, Locke's survival skills, Sun's herbal/gardening abilities, and even Sawyer's criminal skills all seem to be too well developed for just one person respectively. Of course, I suppose that one person could do all those things, but such a collection of masters in thier field on the plane.
Sam G 11-18-2005, 09:26 PM Hi Shadowspel, I noticed that you don't have many posts and don't want to assume you are new here, you could have been lurking for a long time. Sam, I didn't add your first two Q's. The only reason I didn't add them is that Nathan and Goodwin are both dead now and I doubt we're going to get any resolution in that department. I put the Jin question up, though! I never thought of that, but you are right, he started yelling for Michael and Sawyer immediately after breaking away from the Tailies.
Hubby and I argue like crazy over Sun's #2 question. I say that it's not outside the realm of normal for someone from an Asian country to have a decent understanding of herbal medicine, especially in the capacity we've seen her use it

Shadowspel, I added a question to the Walt subsection. Please let me know if this covers your question. I don't crucify anyone, don't want it to happen to me! The Golden rule, donchaknow. And if you're smokin' somethin' you better pass it to the Organizer!

A-L is the only one that can answer this. I was wondering if she felt something when she touched him? Like Walt when he touched Locke.

Sam G 11-19-2005, 11:46 AM This may be tastelss but relevant. If there is a large monster, wouldn't our trackers have run across excrement? Monster poo?

I have to disagree with you both. If Sun was from a lower socio-economic background, then I could understand her use of herbal medicines. However, you see an upper class, well educated and, most likely, very sheltered woman. I doubt that a man of Sun's father's position would have his child using herbal medications and/or digging around in the dirt. Remember how large their house and grounds were. Plus, she is very cosmopolitan, living in or near Seoul. She isn't a country bumpkin. Seoul is just like any major US city.
I was really amazed that Sun knew so much about vegetable and fruit gardening as well as herbal medications. Its just not something I would expect from a daughter of a wealthy industrialist.

Sam - there are 2 theories floating around that would explain that. One is the nanobot theory. The other is electomagnetic cloud theory. Either one would explain the lack of monster poop and tracks. But, who knows; I'm just passing on 2 theories.

Well, just from being educated myself and being an avid reader, I would know that eucalyptus helps in breathing, the benefits of aloe, how to recognize certain plants, etc. I do understand what you are saying, and will totally give you the "how the heck does she know how to garden?" thing. That did surprise me. I didn't see her as someone who would know how to do the planting/harvesting thing. (We never saw her gardening as, say, a way to relieve stress or something in a FB.) And one moment that really sticks out like a sore thumb from season 1 was when Sun made those needles for Jack to do the transfusion for Boone.
So, on the one hand I can see her having a general knowledge of herbal remedies. But on the other hand, she seems to have a rather extensive knowledge that I find incongruous at this point. Guess I'm on the fence here until we get any further explanation on this one. That is, if we do, lol.

That link is awesome, too! Thanks for that.:biggrin:Godessblue if you haven't checked out the LOST Library link on the end of my post you might want to. Because I was tired of finding everything I had bookmarked, I put them on a thread I could find all the time. It has a lot of the other Lost sites and many of the popular threads.
goddessblue 11-23-2005, 03:21 AM Thanks SamG. I have a huge list of LOST sites bookmarked, and sometimes I can't remember what is where!
bookmarked!
elfdream 11-25-2005, 04:42 PM I have to disagree with you both.
Have you all considered that perhaps the reason Sun dabbles in plants and herbology is because she LIKES to? That it is a HOBBY? Being rich does not rule out a love of growing things. My husband once worked for a billionaire and he LOVED Plants. The late Emperor of Japan was an amateur bontanist. It also doesn't have to entail digging in the dirt. She could have had a container garden..or for all we know she followed the family gardener around as a child and she just picked up things. (The wise old person who listented to her when her parents didn't kind of thing)
And I have an overactive imagination. I think I just gave someone an idea for a fanfic. ;)
Honbun26 11-25-2005, 04:59 PM Elf - its just that her knowledge was so extensive, that it kinda stuck out for me. I've been an avid gardener since I was a child. I picked it up from my Mom and my grandfather. I know a lot about fruit, veggies, herbs and other plants. And, I do know some uses for plants (such as aloe gel for a burn, or dumb cane to make someone stop talking). But, her knowledge goes way beyond even the most serious "gentlemen" farmer.
What really made me go "Whoa" was when she was discussing the seeds and what each one was for. I'm not familiar with Korean climate, but looking at the location on a map, I assume the weather is similar to the Mid-Atlantic to the Northeast US. Why would she know a lot about the tropical fruits? I can't remember the conversation, but it was around the time that Kate found out that Sun speaks English.
::off she goes to search through transcripts::
ETA - found what I was looking for and I remembered wrong. It was actually a conversation between Jack and Kate about the seeds. Meh!
spike13 11-26-2005, 04:04 PM What happened to the cave? There primarily there for the sake of clean water, now they're back at the beach.
goddessblue 11-26-2005, 10:31 PM What happened to the cave? There primarily there for the sake of clean water, now they're back at the beach.
I believe there are still some Lostaways at the caves. Not everyone moved to the caves, some stayed at the beach. And it would make sense for people to go back and forth during the day, visiting, carrying water to the beach, empty bottles back to the caves, etc. The past few epis have focused mainly on the Tailies. Just because we haven't seen the caves doesn't mean there aren't people still camping out there. As you pointed out, that's their fresh water source.
So has anyone come up with any more new Q's for the list? I didn't come up with any after Collision. The only answers I got from Collision were numbers 1 and 2 on Ana Lucia's section.
It appears that next week this question will be answered!:
6. What happens if you do NOT push the execute button?
cherann 11-26-2005, 11:30 PM 1. If Ana Lucia only had one bullet left in the gun, then how did she shoot off another bullet after she shot Shannon?
2. Why did she think she shot Shannon if she was still able to shoot after she supposedly shot Shannon.
spike13 11-26-2005, 11:47 PM I think she shot using the gun she took away from Sayid for the second shot.
As foor your second question, I'm not sure what you mean.
goddessblue 11-27-2005, 06:48 PM 1. If Ana Lucia only had one bullet left in the gun, then how did she shoot off another bullet after she shot Shannon?
2. Why did she think she shot Shannon if she was still able to shoot after she supposedly shot Shannon.
Ana shot Shannon with the one bullet that was in the gun she took from Sawyer in the pit. Sayid had a gun. Eko wrestled with Sayid and Ana got Sayid's gun.
I'm not sure I understand your second question.

Some new questions from last night's epi:
Swan Station
Why are blast doors installed?
How will using the computer for something other than entering the numbers lead to another incident?
Arrow Station
Why was the film strip hidden in the Bible?
Kate
Why were the Federal Marshalls involved in her arrest (murder is a state crime)?
Why was she only being transported by one Marshall?
Walt
Was that really Walt on the other end of the computer conversation with Michael?
Michael
Where does he get his knowledge of blast doors (not really something you would pick up as a regular-joe construction worker)?
Where does he get his knowledge of computers?
Sawyer
Who is he referring to when he says "I love her"?
Sam G 12-01-2005, 09:20 PM I think Kate may have left Iowa when the Marshal's find her. Her father may still be in Washington State.

Thanks Honbun! I know I can always count on you to get a bunch more questions.
I have one regarding the computer. Locke showed Michael that you couldn't use the computer before the 4 minutes started counting down. Yet at the end, Michael was able to type replies. I can suspend my belief to allow that someone was trying to contact the Swan, but Locke tappity tapped at the keys and nothing came up at the prompt. Is there a switch at the other place that all of a sudden makes the Swan keyboard functional before the alarm sounds?
We also got some answers, specifically Kate #'s 6, 7, 8 & 10.
I'll get the list updated later on tonight or in the morning when the kids are in school.
Anyone else have Q's to add?? PLEASE add them!

I think you're right, Sam. If she left the state, she'd be a fugitive and the feds could be called in, correct?

I like that Walt question, especially since I don't think it was him. Michael doesn't seem to me to have knowledge of computers. It just looks like curiosity to me.

Anytime, chica!
As for the new-found ability to type into the Swan Station computer, there are discussions in the epi forum. So, it really is a new question - How come Michael can type into the computer? Some (including yours truly) think that you can only type when you are prompted by contact from another computer.
bhall96992 - I just added that question 'cause it seemed odd to me that Michael's checking out the computers. Sayid I can see. But Michael was really checking out the equipment like he had some familiarity with it. I think its one of those "we're never really gonna get an answer to this one" questions
bhall96992 12-03-2005, 12:45 AM MIchael may have some experience, but with him being in construction, it doesn't seem like he'd have much time for a computer. However, that's just my opinion.
Sam G 12-03-2005, 09:32 PM We don't know what Michael does in construction. He was an artist and talked about perspective. He could be an architect for all we know and they certainly use computers for their designs these days.
Twilight Of The Idols 12-03-2005, 10:13 PM Exactly- an important part of Architecture and any sort of structural engineering is learning basic Drafting programs like CAD, which I had to take a course on in high school(terrible stuff). I don't think it's at all strange that Michael might have some knowledge of computer systems.
As for the computer question- my thought is that unless the computer is contacted by another computer, it cannot be used for anything other than inputting the code.
My feeling is that Walt was not the one who initiated the communication. I believe it was probably the others- and I wouldn't be surprised if they are inhabiting at least one, if not more, of the other stations on the island. I read elsewhere a theory that said the "incident" could have been the result of someone answering a communication from the Others- thus giving the Others some direct knowledge of the location of Survivors, or simply unwanted visitors.
The blast doors, then- could be for the purpose of protecting the inhabitants of the hatches from something like a nuclear attack on the island(if the whole thing were a goverment controlled experiement)?
Here's something else to consider(although I haven't done any research to try and put it together)- but what if the island is actually closer to Korea or Japan, than it is to Australia- supposing some of the happenings on the island are the result of disturbances from the bombs dropped on hiroshima/nagasaki? What if the "sickness" was radiation coming from a particular point on the island?
That's probably not plausible- but it is interesting that Sun would have discovered herbs on this island that must have been native to her homeland- in order for her to be familiar with their medicinal properties.
Sam G 12-04-2005, 12:45 AM Well there is a geiger counter on the island. What else would it be there for?
goddessblue 12-04-2005, 04:21 AM New questions have been added.

Agreed. Methinks the Others are a-schemin' . Its entirely consistent with their behaviour so far. All they seem to want is to keep tabs on the survivors (with the exception of Ethan, who was just a bit of a psycho). They learn what they can by infiltration and kidnapping.
I think Michael seemed overly nonchalant on his first encounter with the computer given: a) all he (and all the other islanders) had just been through, b) that he saw the orientation film and c) that he was shown not hours before that what he was doing shouldn't have been possible. But no, he treats it as a harmless bit of greenscreen IRC... with a total stranger, whilst stranded on an island where folks have kidnapped his son and are attempting a slow cull of his friends...
*tsk tsk* Some sloppy plotting, motivationally.

goddessblue 12-07-2005, 02:12 AM Is the horse seen on the island real?
Does Kate really know that horse?
Why are there identical octagonal boxes at Wayne's and the Swan hatch?
Does anything happen if the numbers are not entered on time?
Tabby, thank you for adding new questions. Hope you don't mind if I tweaked things a bit.
I believe that it's agreed that the horse on the island is real, based on the facts that Kate was able to touch the horse and Sawyer witnessed it, too. I put the questions: Where did Kate's horse come from? and What does the horse represent?(if anything) in the island section. (We can't rule out the possibility that the horse was on the island...yet. There are polar bears out there, too. :))
I have seen threads and posts about the octagonal boxes. Are they identical or just similar? I have searched and can't find the shot of the one in the hatch. Could you provide that?
Your last question is on the list: 6. What happens if you do NOT push the execute button on time?
Thanks!!

I clicked on your link but it said that the album/picture does not exist.
I was searching this morning in threads I've recently posted in because I remembered seeing the caps of the eight-sided box. Found 'em! In Todell's thread Items Found in the Hatch and the Outside World. (http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=28892) It looks to me like those two boxes are indeed the same. Reusing props? More significance? I added the question!

What do you think of the missing Dharma logo on the wall? There's more that's been noticed. That the big red box is shiny in one and dull an rusted in the other. It goes with all the other supposed, continunity errors that people are jumping all over. I say not an error.

Are you talking about the medicine cabinet? The props in the hatch fascinate me. TPTB have said things are chosen for a reason. I don't think they're errors either. The changing record player, lamps, tables, etc. Then the fact that there are so many items in the hatch that we've seen in FB's. I know you've posted on Todell's thread about that as well. I might concede a few things to be editing errors/sloppy prop records, but it has happened so many times, and they KNOW we overanalyze this stuff!

What started it the execute keys
http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=736&pos=257 Adrift If you blow this up it looks like they cut some kind of thin fiberglass and glued it to the top of the key.
http://www.lost-media.com/modules.php?name=coppermine&file=displayimage&album=737&pos=511 Orientation If you blow this up it looks like they printed a new tape with Ececute on and attached it to the top of the key. You can see the edges. (You'd never notice that it's taped on, on TV but it is now obvious that the keys are supposed to look different.)
The floor is the kicker for me. I have always thought there was a reason but I am totally convinced now.
Tabby, even if they moved to a new stage, that's exactly what it is, a stage. You have to build everything. Why would you choose to change the floor from a pattern to something plain on a show like this? It is sure to be noticed.

Sam G...maybe they couldn't get the same pattern/color of flooring easily or quickly enough...it IS an island (Hawaii) where I would imagine it takes longer and costs more to keep things in stock. Maybe someone didn't think it was important or just made an error, or maybe the continuity consultant took a day off.
I'm not saying it wasn't intentional...I was just pointing out what I thought could be a plausible explanation (the move to the new studio).
If it was intentional, then are the inconsistencies central to the plot, or are they utilized to generate more mystery and buzz, and divert attention from what would really help us solve the mysteries? IMHO, TPTB don't want us to solve all the mysteries because then we might not continue to watch the show. Anything that perpetuates the mysteries potentially lengthens the lifetime of the show.

Then there is the Mural that has been changed. The mural and the floor aren't a matter of small props being misplaced or reused. These are pretty big alterations.

The mural seems to be the biggest, to me. Because of the "sick/well" difference. But the other so-called continuity errors really do seem even more suspect when you consider that there are so many in total.
My comments weren't intended to be argumentative. If they seem inconsistent with my other posts, it's because I wanted us to have all the information, and I don't want us to be led astray.:)
I wonder if the appearance of the props is partially dependent on the perception of who is present at the time?

I finally looked at them...well, they're different.
I looked at the hatch diagram to make sure there weren't 2 computers (Occam answer). Back when we first saw Desmond enter the numbers, right before the Losties blew the hatch open, he woke up, leaped up out of his bunk, sat in a chair and rolled over to the computer. It sure didn't seem like he rolled as far as that diagram shows it to be between the bunks and the dome/computer room. But maybe they didn't show him walking to the dome and sitting in the chair there. Also, they didn't show his head at all until after he had started his routine (except for the opening eye shot). Those 2 things have bugged me for a while, but maybe the latter was for dramatic suspense and is nothing.
I think of things like time oddities, matter rearranging (and maybe not into exactly what it was before) and matter being moved, individuals' having different perceptions, multiple dimensions and infinite possibilities (we see more than one possibility for any given item) when I wonder why the items are changing, and changing position. Maybe Desmond woke up and thought himself into the dome room chair?

AND:biggrin: ...on this new (Orientation) one, I see 2 white "dots" inside the "C", and the "U" has a gap on the upper right. These appear to be in the actual "presentation" (for lack of the appropriate word) of the letters, and not blemishs on the tape, or air bubbles under the tape (although I can see air bubbles or pockets under the tape elsewhere).
I really hope that it's not something stupid like a broken/lost keyboard and someone had to quickly come up with something for a shoot.:disgust:

Oh, we're just getting started!:D (half kidding)
And the reason for the "tinting" of the 2nd one is that IIRC, Locke (or whoever) was on button duty with low lighting (blue).

I like this idea and I think it would make more sense in the context of the show than time-traveling or anything like that. Is there anyone out there who tapes or tivos the episodes that can see if the hatch always looks a certain way when viewed by a certain person or something like that.

We would be lucky if the same person always sees it the same way.
I'm not sure it's possible to do what you're suggesting...given the uncertainty of whose POV we're seeing and who and what are out of view. (if that makes any sense) Even if those weren't obstacles, it would be a very time-intensive process. 'Course if you're volunteering...

 Yeah I had a feeling when I typed that it was kinda on the hard (okay impossible  ) side but since people are sometimes able to do all kinds of investigating for this show that I wouldn't think possible I thought I'd just throw that out there. Could be something to look out for in the future though.
whoninja1 12-25-2005, 06:16 AM 2. What was the cause of the accident between Shannon's dad & Sarah? Who was at fault?
Sara's tire blew out and her car jumped the divider and ran into Rutherfords.
Is Bernard the real Sawyer?
ClairesBabysDaddy 01-02-2006, 06:08 PM Why did Sayid Lie to Rouseau when he told her Nadia was dead.
Or is that the truth and he was lying to the CIA in letting them believe she was okay.
It never sat right with me that he was on this pilgrimage to LA to fing his long lost love, but was so ready to build a hoochie tent with Shannon.

I appreciate you letting me know this one slipped by me! That's why this is a group effort. I've updated the Answers thread in the Shannon section. Answers to this are found in DNH, MoS,MoF and Abandonded.
I'm not putting any "Is So-and-So the real Sawyer?" questions on the list. Just on principle. Sorry. But if I put one, I'll be bombarded by the posters who've put up threads that Kate's Dad/Jack's Dad/Cooper/Shannon's Dad/Etc.! is the real Sawyer. And, really, I don't want to have the same question on practically everyone's section.
Why did Sayid Lie to Rouseau when he told her Nadia was dead.
Or is that the truth and he was lying to the CIA in letting them believe she was okay.
It never sat right with me that he was on this pilgrimage to LA to fing his long lost love, but was so ready to build a hoochie tent with Shannon.
There was a lot of speculation on the boards about Sayid and Danielle's conversation. General consensus is that he told her Nadia was dead so that she would open up to him about Alex and her husband. By telling Danielle that Nadia was dead, he let her know that he's "been through the same thing."
The CIA agents found Nadia, not Sayid.
From TGG:
Agent Cole
She lives in Irvine, California, just south of Los Angeles - works as a lab-tech at a medical testing company - plane ticket, walking around money, you're on an Oceanic flight to LA. It leaves in two hours.
Sayid and Shannon did have a rather quickly bonded relationship, considering he was on his way to find Nadia. I agree. But they've been through some traumatic circumstances (plane crash w/ no rescue in sight, Boone's death, Others, the monster, etc.) and that could lead them to bond and form a relationship quickly. Sayid seemed to like to take care of Shannon, while Shannon seemed to like to be taken care of.
goddessblue 01-10-2006, 01:05 PM Just wanted to remind everyone about The BLU-Q List!!
New episode tomorrow.....so if there are any new questions to add.....let me know! If any answers to questions on The List are found.....let me know that, too! :)
Honbun26 01-11-2006, 01:46 PM Got my list all printed up and READY TO RUMBLE!!!!
Todell 01-11-2006, 01:56 PM BLU's Qs! (or blue's Q's!) HA! I crack myself up!

BLU's Qs! (or blue's Q's!) HA! I crack myself up!
heehee....yup, Tickity Tock's counting down the hours till LOST starts, Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper are in the kitchen making snacks and Sidetable Drawer's holding my list and pen for me!!!
(I crack myself up, too. ;))
Honbun26 01-12-2006, 11:30 AM Okay, here is what I have to add to the lists:
Questions
Mr. Eko
Why wasn't he scared of the smoke creature?
Why did the smoke creature leave him unharmed?
Who are the people we see in the smoke (I saw 2 women, 2 men and a young boy - one of the men was the man that Eko killed when he was a child)?
Did he continue to act as a priest after the plane left?
Why was he in Australia?
Why was he in civilian clothes?
Did he know the drug plane was on/near the island?
Locke
How does he know the combination to the gun locker?
Michael
What was the rest of the line that "Walt" typed to Michael?
Was the typing really on the screen or was it in MIchael's head?
Misc
How did the drug plane get all the way from Nigeria to the island?
Why was the drug plane going that far (I would assume it would just fly to Europe, with stops along the way)?
Answers
I didn't find any answers in this epi, which isn't surprising since this was mostly about Mr. Eko.
goddessblue 01-12-2006, 05:42 PM Honbun, thanks for the new additions!! I'm going to wait to edit the list because of the busy servers issues today.
goddessblue 01-15-2006, 07:08 PM Honbun, I added your additions. I didn't put the Locke question on there. Here's a thread that discusses your question. http://thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=31941&highlight=combination Look at post #17 on that thread. I'm not sure if this question will be addressed in the show and I think there are pretty plausible answers in this thread.
I did find a few answers in this episode, specifically in the Nigerian Plane section of The BLU-Q List.
1.How many people were on the plane? 3 (<-- Is this the correct number?? Drug dealer and Eko's brother on plane, 1 who parachuted out, correct??)
2. How many survived? None
3. If so, where are they? N/A
5. Is Mr. Eko one of the Nigerians? Yes, but not on the plane.

From what I could tell there were only 2 people on the plane. Goldtooh, who papachuted out and Yemi.
When Locke takes Sayid to the plane he says there are 2 bodies. Locke associating Goldtooth, who had fallen out of the tree and had Nigerian money in his pocket with the plane that had a map of Nigeria in it.
At the beginning of 23rd Psalm in the "Previously on LOST" Sayid tells Charie there were 2 men dressed as priests.
goddessblue 01-15-2006, 07:29 PM Sam...so Goldtooth was piloting the plane? That's why I thought there might be another. Or am I thinking of the Nigerian who got killed on the tarmac?
Sam G 01-15-2006, 08:42 PM Sam...so Goldtooth was piloting the plane? That's why I thought there might be another. Or am I thinking of the Nigerian who got killed on the tarmac?
Goldtooth was piloting the plane, as far as I could tell. He kicked Eko out slammed the hatch shut and ran to the front of the plane. There was a delay before the plane took off, If there was a pilot, I think Goldtooth would have been yelling to them to take off.
Although, I do find it strange that Goldtooth knew how to fly a plane.

Thanks Sam!! I also looked around here and found 2 different threads discussing how many men were on the plane. You've got the consensus, I'm going to correct the Answers thread right now. I appreciate all the help you give me with this thread!!
I find Goldtooth being a pilot interesting, too. He would have had to have been to get them as far as the island...They would have had to stop more than once to refuel.
That report you found was interesting! I've learned so many random things since watching this show and discovering the 'lage, lol!!

You know, after watching 23rd Psalm and What Kate did several times, I find it really odd that Michael wasn't more excited when there was a response on the computer, let alone when he thought it was Walt. I mean, when you find out something vital is working, don't you say something right away? People were in the next room. Michael reaction was "Hum" ok I'll type back, not "Hey, the computer is talking to me."

Happy LOST watching, fellow 'lagers!!
Honbun26 01-19-2006, 10:32 AM Sorry for the absence. Here are my questions:
Seabillies (I can't remember if they have there own category)
How does Chief Seabilly know Jack and John's name?
Is Zeke his real name? (I ask this because when Sawyer said Zeke, Chief Seabilly kinda gave a start)
Was the Alex that was holding Kate THE Alex, offspring of Danielle?

Hey Honbun!
I was wondering that about the Chief Seabilly/Other, too. Have they been observing our fusies for the past 50 days? Did they get the names from Walt? From Kate?
I think Zeke is just one of Sawyer's nicknames. I saw the start, too, but sort of chalked it up to Sawyer giving him lip. Dunno. :undecide:
Re: Alex, I was thinking the exact same thing!!!
Other Q's I came up with (so far):
- The date on the x-ray (CT scan? which was it?) was 11/16/05. Is this significant? Or was this another prop error like the dates on Jin's resume?
- Was this episode proof that Michael really was talking to someone via the computer and that it wasn't all in his head?
Also, not a question, but did ya ever notice that Jack is always doing the opposite of what Christain says? Maybe to prove something? I wondered if part of the reason he kissed Gabriella was because his dad told him not to get involved....
goddessblue 01-19-2006, 04:08 PM No problem. LOL, have you ever thought you replied to a post, then later realized you really didn't? I could've sworn I replied to your comment here.
I feel the same way you do about how Michael reacted to the computer suddenly spouting questions at him. Especially after he just watched the film. Wouldn't he go, "Hey guys! Come and look at this!" And why didn't he say anything to anyone after the first time? I hate when they do things out of character. Michael's usually pretty vocal.

Hmm maybe he didn't say anything because the orientation film said not to use it to communicate, only to execute the numbers. You would have thought he would have shared the news of talking to Walt on the computer to at least one person!
j2k1999 01-20-2006, 12:04 AM but when the computer started talkin to him, lock an eko were watchin the film in the other room, he hadnt seen it, he could have heard it but i dunno
goddessblue 01-20-2006, 12:40 AM but when the computer started talkin to him, lock an eko were watchin the film in the other room, he hadnt seen it, he could have heard it but i dunno
Exactly. Michael saw the unspliced film, he never saw the bit about not using the computer to try to make contact. He was too busy checking out the wires and cords around the computer and whatnot.
Jezz1226 01-20-2006, 12:48 AM No problem. You know, after watching 23rd Psalm and What Kate did several times, I find it really odd that Michael wasn't more excited when there was a response on the computer, let alone when he thought it was Walt. I mean, when you find out something vital is working, don't you say something right away? People were in the next room. If I remember correctly (which isn't always a given :) ) earlier Jack or Locke had told Michael that the computer couldn't be used for anything but entering the numbers. Therefore, Michael knew that he was the only one that had been successfull with contacting anyone via the computer, my guess is that he was worried if anyone else tried to contact then not only would they not be able to contact but that Michael would no longer be able to contact as well. Also, I think he was already planning his attempt to get back Walt and figured they less that knew about it the better, as he was afraid that they would try to stop him (as they did when he left).
goddessblue 01-20-2006, 01:00 AM That's a good theory, Jezz. I can see how he'd be scared he wouldn't be able to contact "Walt" again. But you have to also consider the fact that when it all started it was just "Hello?" on the screen. He didn't know it was "Walt." At that first "Hello," wouldn't you call out to your buddies, "Hey, come check this out!"?
Also goes along with #11 under Michael's section of The List....why was Michael able to type into the computer before the 4 minute mark? Earlier, Locke had tappity-tapped on the keyboard to illustrate to Michael that nothing could be typed in before the timer started beeping.
Sam G 01-20-2006, 09:07 PM Why didn't Michael just sneak out after knocking Locke out? He could have easily left. Locke asked Jack how long he had been out and Jack said around 20 minutes and that no one would be there until the next shift unless Sawyer came to get his bandages changed. When Kate and Sawyer got there the counter was beeping for some reason 4:27 down to 4:26 (in my mind but that would mean the counter started beeping earlier than the 4 minute mark.) (OK who can check the counter when Kate puts in the numbers?) it's probably 3:27 ARGH!!!!!
Todell 01-20-2006, 09:26 PM Oooh! I've got a question!
How do the Others know that Alex's name is Alex? If they took her when she was a week old, how do they know her name? I mean I guess it's because they were watching Danielle, but still.

I wondered the same thing, Todell! Then I thought to myself, "Ahhhh.....but are they the same Alex?" There are multiple double uses of names in this show. I'm wondering if this is another one...
I'll be updating the list tonight or tomorrow. Keep 'em coming!

Charlie 01-21-2006, 12:29 AM Hm.
I think it could be either a man or a woman... definitely not a sixteen year old girl, though. Looks older than that age, unless it's a guy's hand.
For now, I'm going to guess it's a man's hand, but, you know, these people have been living in the wild for a long time (seemingly).
evolve 01-21-2006, 05:54 AM i don't think this question was added. what did michael mean when he told jack the computer wasn't what they thought it was? yes, the circumstance was tense, but when he referred to the computer, he really looked upset.
johnnywishbone 01-21-2006, 11:51 AM Goddess, I'm not exactly sure how this thread works, but I got a question and I didn't notice it asked or answered.
I'm curious as to the story regarding Jack's Tatoos. I'm pretty sure I noticed in the Hunting Party that Jack did NOT have any Tatoos when he got into bed with Sarah. So he obviously got them / it (can't remember if he has more than 1) after he split with Sarah. Why? Where? What made him decide to get a tatoo and what the heck does it mean?
Maybe you can add this to the list, and if this is not how this thread works....my apologies!

goddessblue 01-21-2006, 01:54 PM Seabillies (I can't remember if they have there own category)
Is Zeke his real name? (I ask this because when Sawyer said Zeke, Chief Seabilly kinda gave a start)
At this point, the Others and the Seabillies questions are all under The Others section of the list. Until it's shown in the show that we've got more than one group of Others, I'm gonna keep the list that way.
I didn't put up the Zeke being his real name Q as at this point we have no other reason to believe it was just a Sawyer nickname.
The date on the x-ray (CT scan? which was it?) was 11/16/05. Is this significant? Or was this another prop error like the dates on Jin's resume?
CT Scan - yup, prop error on the date. Javi answered this.
- Was this episode proof that Michael really was talking to someone via the computer and that it wasn't all in his head?
Would really like some input as to this. These questions are on the list:
11b. Is the computer controlled by an outside force?
13. Was the typing really on the screen or was it in MIchael's head?
Before I go running off to put an answer on the Answers thread, I would like some opinions...do you think THP proved that Michael was indeed talking to someone (pretending to be Walt? Walt?) who gave him directions? And that the computer in the Swan is controlled by an outside force (another Hatch?)
Why didn't Michael just sneak out after knocking Locke out? He could have easily left. Locke asked Jack how long he had been out and Jack said around 20 minutes and that no one would be there until the next shift unless Sawyer came to get his bandages changed. Sam, I thought Jack caught Michael before he could leave? That's why he didn't sneak out? Which could have been his original plan. I'm going to rewatch THP today and check on this and the counter numbers.
Thanks so much to everyone!!! If any other questions arise, let me know!!!

We do know that Jack's tatoos are Matthew's, and that they've been covered up in flashbacks. TPTB have said that they'll address when and why Jack got the tatoos....so we'll get an answer eventually on this one!
ETA 2:
I put all the Alex question on the list. I think it's probably safe to assume, based on those screencaps that the Alex that was holding Kate is not Danielle's Alex, but you know how I do things here...until we have proof....it's on the list. :)

Also, Kate mentions the tattoo in HOTRS
Kate: It's just that you and your tattoos don't add up. Are you one of those hardcore spinal surgeons?
Kate: Hey Charlie? Ask Jack about his tattoos.
When Jack was getting married they covered his tattoo so that it looked like he hadn't gotten one yet. Setting it up so we will be able to see Jack's reasons for getting the tattoo.

Yes! That's a good connection!!
Charlie 01-23-2006, 01:24 PM Thanks. :) I can't prove this theory, of course, but that surgery seemed to really change his life. If I were going to get a tattoo, something like that is definitely what I would do. Something that was connected to a life changing choice I had made in my life.

I could not agree more. I have a tattoo that Im getting, in relationship to my Mom having breast cancer this last yr. The treatments are over and all, but I learned so much from her with the time we spent...
I know, its off topic, but I would say that anything that so radically effects your life would be grounds for a tattoo...In my humble opinion.
LostLaura 01-23-2006, 01:52 PM Hi goddess, I have one question and one answer. My question:
Who told Sawyer about the real Sawyer? Meaning: How does Sawyer know why his father killied his mother and then himself? Why would someone tell this to a young boy? Is it even the truth? Was there really a con?
(I feel like this is a legitimate question, but it could be too "theory"-ish...)
Javi answered this:
17. Was the first person we saw in the hatch (beginning of MoS,MoF) Desmond? If not, who was it?
http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=31705&highlight=javi+desmond
In the same Javi answer, he addresses that the hatch has abnormalities but he seems positively bemused that anyone could think that slight changes to the hatch from episode to episode could be part of some kind of time warp, blah blah. The questions that you have listed about the hatch (retiling of the floor, etc.) are not *exactly* what he addresses but similiar... I'm not sure then if we technically have answers to those questions.
Sam G 01-23-2006, 03:17 PM Well isn't five the number of seconds that Jack decided he would let the fear in to "let it do its job"?
The writers may have picked up on the number of seconds, because of Matthew's tattoo, but I think I remember that it is connected to being on "The Party of Five". Undoubtly a show that changed Matthew's life.

In the DVD commentary for PIL (or maybe a documentary on the bonus disc), they said that they already had the 5 seconds thing written into the script, and then Matthew had that tattoo and they just couldn't believe their luck and how odd it was.
Honbun26 01-23-2006, 03:24 PM Goddess - in response to your questions about Michael, and whether they were answered, I don't think we have an answer yet. Yes, we see the writing on the screen, but it could just be a POV rather than real typing. I'm actually leaning towards it was in Mike's head (Danielle's sickness). With Walt appearing, possibly by teleportation or telepathy, its not a stretch for Mike to have received instructions telepathically; it just looked like it was on the screen.
That thought just reminded me of the character Tom in The Last Stand (M-O-O-N that spells Moon) and how he received instructions from the deaf guy (can't remember his name) telepathically after the deaf guy had died. TPTB could be following a similar track.

Yes, I've heard that's why he (Matthew Fox) got it. What I said above was talking about Jack's motivation for getting a tattoo. :)
Do you think I could ask Javi to confirm that this is the connection? Or would it be considered a spoiler?
iknowstuff 01-24-2006, 06:10 AM Forgive me if I missed this question:
1a. Why is Quarantine stenciled on the Swan hatch door?
1b. Why is it on the inside of the hatch? (Are we assuming Danielle's "sickness" really exists? If so, are we talking about two sicknesses? Hers and the quarantine one?)
I also though I saw Quarantine show up on the Arrow hatch somewhere. I think the door to it, on the outside of the door. Can someone confirm this please?
2. If Quarantine is on the outside of the Arrow hatch door, why the outside vs inside on the Swan hatch?
3. Is Charlie using again? Planning to? He does have that stash.
3b. Why is he hoarding the Virgin Mary heroin statues?

It's on the inside of the door for Arrow, too. There is no inside v. outside issue with the word "quarantine.

Probably along the same lines as how Charlie got in a seat. He could have been walking back when the plane started to shake.

Yeah, but I never thought about that before. Interesting question. If not what Sam proposed, probably just a small error by the producers.
goddessblue 01-26-2006, 10:26 PM I updated the questions you guys posted yesterday. Thanks!
Questions I came up with from Fire + Water:
1. Where does Hurley know Libby from?
2. Why did Locke change the combination on the vault again?
3. Why did Locke put the statues of heroin in the vault?
4. Why was Eko marking the trees?
Any more? I know I missed some, lol!
Sam G 01-27-2006, 01:34 AM Did something tragic happen to Mrs. Pace? Charlie and Liam both choaked up when they said her name.
Jezz1226 01-27-2006, 01:37 AM Why did Charlie feel so strongly that Aaron should be baptized? (I know because of the dreams, but why did the dreams mean/were interpreted that way)
Charlie 01-27-2006, 01:59 AM Yeah, why did Eko tell Charlie that?
TabbyRasa 01-27-2006, 02:24 AM Yeah, why did Eko tell Charlie that?
I don't know...but Eko had a knowing look on his face when Charlie told him about the dreams. You know what that scene reminded me of? When Eko said "what if you do need to save him?", I thought of Desmond telling Jack "what if you did fix her?".
marley2a2 01-27-2006, 03:31 AM 3. Why was Walt dripping wet?
i think he was wet because he is in an underwater bunker (hatch). maybe its a clue.

Only answers shown in the show or revealed by the creators in interviews/podcasts are accepted as canon. Until we see that underwater hatch (and I for one, love that idea - I want to know where that cable goes in the water) it's just an opinion. Thank you for your input, though!! Please keep an eye out for any questions or answers revealed in episodes and let me know!

On that note, why isn't Mr. Pace, the butcher, in the picture? Is he also possibly dead?
saranc2381 01-27-2006, 11:21 AM In the last episode - when Hurley and Libby are doing laundry. Hurley says that Libby looks familiar to him. Libby brushes off the question but answers...don't you remember - you stepped on my foot when you got on the plane. My question is...if Hurley was seated in the front of the plane, how did Hurley step on her foot? Libby was suppossedly seated in the tail section of the plane. She wasn't a flight attendant...My theory: She wasn't on the plane either.

Agent Oda 01-27-2006, 11:14 PM Just editing out my questions as they've been added to the list. :)
goddessblue 01-27-2006, 11:33 PM Hello All...
Some questions of my own I'd like answered:
Black Smoke and black smoke:
- Is the Black Smoke Monster the same black smoke we saw in the last few episodes of Season One (or otherwise connected to it)? By this I mean the giant torch and plume of black smoke that is supposedly connected to The Others and (accordingly to Danielle) suggests an Others Attack is about to begin?
-Is the Black Smoke Monster alive or is it some sort of Tech? Or is it both (a cyborg)?
Or is it Tech that became sentient?
-Does it work for or against the others? Is it protecting the jungle from the others?
-Is the monsters presence the reason why fewer Fusees have been attacked/kidnapped/killed in comparison to Tailies (who had no monster nearby)
Ana Lucia
-Did she kill the guy she shot, or "only" wound him?
-Was she ever linked to the crime; or charged for murder/attempted?
-Is this shooting linked to her leaving the force? Was she fired, suspended or just quit because she couldn't do it anymore.
-Why was she in Australia? Is she a fugitive too, is she on vacation, or some other reasons?
That's all I can think of right now.
You raise some good questions, but I just want to get clarification on a few things.
1. On your first point...do you mean the black smoke/fire that was set on the beach or the black smoke that appeared when Locke was being pulled towards the pit?
2. By tech you mean technology?
3. Do you really think Jason survived after Ana shot him 3 times at a distance of 10-20 feet then 3 more times at point blank range?
4. Are you really running with scissors?!

4. Are you really running with scissors?!
1. I mean the black smoke/fire that was set on the beach, NOT the smoke that attacked Locke. Basically I'm wondering if the fire's smoke is the source/origin of the Black Smoke Monster.
2. Technology, yes. Just a bit of lazy typing.
3. I had actually forgotten the specifics of the shooting - that's why I left the possiblity that he's alive. Personally I believe that she killed him, but I guess people have lived through worse. Or not. We just never saw the fallout of her actions. I'm not trying to suggest that he IS alive - only that that canon of it is undetemined, I guess.
But in terms of the Big Question List, I am fine with assuming the guy is dead and retracting question #1, and modifying #2 to delete the word "attempted". Truly, I had forgotten that she basically emptied her gun on him.
4. Always, but only figuratively :)
goddessblue 01-28-2006, 12:33 AM Thanks for the clarifications. (Especially on that last one! *phew!*) I'll be updating the list this weekend.
If anyone else has any new Q's, keep 'em coming!!

Good Q, Sam....I swear I remember Shannon wearing that top last season. Anyone else?? Might have to have a mini-LOST-marathon...darn...
goddessblue 02-09-2006, 05:02 PM After The Long Con, hope some of you have some new Q's for me!!
A few things that I've come up with so far....still working on my Q's, so I'm thinking out loud here...
Now knowing about Cassidy, was Saywer referring to her in WKD when he said "I love her"?
Where did Sawyer move the guns to? Does Charlie know where the guns are? Did Charlie take a gun before showing Sawyer were they were?
Could Cassidy possibly be the friend who sent Kate money? If so, did she teach Kate how to con? (this Q is courtesy of SamG, saw points made by her on the LLL)
Also this is from F+W, but when Charlie set the fire, was it where Eko was marking trees and is this why Eko was poking in the ashes at the end of the epi?
Todell 02-09-2006, 09:41 PM Who is Cassidy's ex-husband, and where did he make his money?
What happened to Gordy (Gorty)? Is that the same diner that Diane was working in What Kate Did? What is Sawyer doing in Iowa (were they in Iowa?)?
What is up with the radio transmission? What was Locke doing with the books?
(PS: I love that they stickerized this thread!)

Thanks Todell!! Dunno if we'll find out about Cassidy's ex, but I sooooo hope she shows up again connected to Kate. The diner thing has me confused, too. I posted on a couple of threads about it today. It could be another part of the diner in WKD that we didn't see (like around a corner in the place....in WKD all we saw was the counter). The Iowa thing went completely over my head last night, lol. Saw on a thread that there were blank pages in the book???
I'm gonna have to watch this again!!

LostLaura 02-10-2006, 10:19 AM Hey Sam, I rewatched last night and Gordy is not her ex-husband. Gordy says "Hey, I found that bit**!" when he's saying that Sawyer can't "walk away."
goddessblue 02-10-2006, 02:03 PM When was Sawyer lying: When he said "I never loved anyone" to Kate or when he said "I love you" to Cassidy?
Did Sawyer give the money to Gordy like he was supposed to? Or did he pull a double con, making Gordy think that he was running of with Cassidy but was really running off on his own?
Was Sawyer really going to "walk away" with Cassie and her money and then Gordy made him change his mind by saying that "a tiger never changes its stripes"? Or was that all part of the possible double long con?
How long was Sawyer planning the on-island long con? Did it come to him that morning when Jack was going through his tent? Or was he playing them all (especially Kate) ever since he regained consciousness?
Sorry if that's too many Sawyer inner-mind questions. I don't know if that's stuff we'll ever find out the answers to.
LL, thanks for the new Q's! It's hard on the questions that get into the minds of the characters. We have to rely on "logically inferred" answers sometimes. But they're good questions to put on the list just to make us all go, "Hmmmmm...." And really think about the motivation of the survivors. TLC had a lot to do with motivation - with the flashback and on-island stuff.
Sam, thanks for the screencaps!! I'm thinking it's definitely 2 different diners/2 different times. Well, I already thought it was 2 different times, but now those caps are really convincing me on the 2 different diners!
LL, thanks also for the clarification on Gordy. I need everyone's help with this thing and I really, really appreciate that you posted to let us know!
Hope to see more Q's....I'll get the list updated before the next epi, as usual!!!

Sam G 02-10-2006, 03:14 PM Hey Sam, I rewatched last night and Gordy is not her ex-husband. Gordy says "Hey, I found that bit**!" when he's saying that Sawyer can't "walk away."I went and rewatched it last night too. Gordy is in on the con, he found Cassidy. You know who Gordy reminds me of, in the way he acts, the Marshall. Especially, in the way he treated the waitress/Diane. The way the Marshall treated the flight attendent.

Not only are the diners very different, but the one Sawyer is sitting in looks positively tropical. Especially the second shot! Is that an orange tree behind him? In Iowa? I know they film in Hawaii, but...
One other thing about that scene; isn't it odd that Diane, who tolerated so much abuse from her husband, is shown having to put up with a rude, sexist pig. Anyway, she's rightly annoyed by him. I thought it was funny they threw that sort of dynamic into the scene. Of course, she would be different with a man she loved, I suppose. Just a thought.

Pardon me if already mentioned.
Notice in the 2nd picture (the long con) the plate in the case behind the glass, to the right of Sawyers head. The plates says IOWA on it. Like the souvenirs in the shps along interstates. Although not 100%, but that would indicate they are in Iowa. Or another red herring.
Bella 02-10-2006, 10:42 PM My question is: Are the Others human or non-human?
Incidentally, Sawyer and Cassidy were definitely in Iowa, as he told her he would meet up with her in a city in Iowa (unfortunately, I'm forgetting which one).

TB - I'm pretty sure the Others would have to be human, since Eko and Ana were able to kill them the way they did. Charlie, too. That's not to say they couldn't be "tampered with" in some form. hmmmm? Anyone else have thoughts on this Q?
buzmeg - That's an awesome link! You should post that on the LLL about character connections.
