Just curious on what the ratio is of those who watch Lost..........Male or Female?

Male. Somehow, I get the impression there's more female posters on this messageboard overall.

Yup, another female here! so far there are more girls, but not too many have posted...

It's a fact that the majority of people posting on message boards anywhere, about any subject excepting boards belonging to sites in the technical or scientific industries, are women. Even in those communities, women are far more represented than they are, say, in academia. So most people posting here are going to be women. =)

I think there are more female viewers simply because of the great assortment of male eye candy on the show. ;)

I'm sure there's many female viewers of the show, but I do know some males that watch the show and really enjoy it as well. I made my brother sit down and watch the first episode when it premiered and he really enjoyed it, though he did say it would be better if Dom wasn't on it. But that's just the way he is. I think there's a lot of viewers of both gender though, but I'm sure the majority is female.

There is plenty of eye candy to go around for everyone if that is the way you are going to entice the audience. Beautiful women, hot men...and I admit I wonder if Dom was put in not just because he was a great actor but because he would pull in the younger fan girl viewer. He's cute but in that non-threatening crush causing way. :laugh:

Oh..and I'm a girl but I watch it for the story although I do like Dom a lot (but then I like ALL of the LoTR actors)

The site statistics (scroll down on the main TB page--there's a link) show that the ratio is currently 1:4.7 Male:Female. I definitely feel like that's true from my own experiences. I'm not sure why women apparently rule the internet though. ;)

Wowo I'm surprised by that!!! But I've noticed this same type of trend on other boards I'm on. I think only one board I frequent is mostly male. :o

Some friends and I were talking about that a few nights ago. Most of the people on this board are females with maybe 10 or 20 males out there.

I have noticed that I'm usually in the minority when posting on wrestling boards, though I do help mod one that's primarily women posters. Surprisingly enough, there's very little posting on the eye candy. But those types of boards seem few and far between in the wrestling fandom.

Doesn't the poll indicate there are more female fans on-line who have answered this poll ?? That is pretty much the problem with most on-line polls. You are narrowing down the spectrum simply by having it on-line and then narrowing it even further because only certain sorts of people will participate in that ( or any ) kind of polling.

I imagine somewhere there's some kinda national census/survey dealie that might help us find out more definitely what the overall viewership is for LOST (and other programs for that matter). Unfortunately, I am too lazy to find it.

This may be because I am a man. Or it may be because I am a lazy man.

I do get the feeling though, just based on meatspace/realworld experience, that LOST attracts more female fans than male, for whatever Holloway...er, reason. ;)

I'm actually surprised at the female to male ratio reflected in the poll. I would imagine that a large percentage of men do watch the show, although I suppose that more women DO post on message boards than men.

but what is the stereotype of that computer guy? anti-social, not a people person. he may run his own website where he posts his thoughts, but doesn't much "interact" with people. he fixes the computers and modifies them, he doesn't chat on them.
