I was thinking about this last week. I never really liked Kate. Something about her. I always thought she was lying. In the promos, Jack is yelling "stop lying to meeeeee!!!" What do you think she is lying about? And what is in the case? She looked like she was running away from the others (not "the others") when she had the case.

How could you not like her character? She has probably the most secretive (hopefully as interesting) back story.
Plus she is a Jennifer Garner clone. And that is a big positive!

I like the character as a catalyst, etc. I am talking about he character as a person. She is totally lying about something. And she can be rather self righteous at times, as can Jack. Where as, Locke, of course, is the most perfect Woobie in the world. ;D

I LOVE Kate!!! I think she's fantastic - strong, witty, smart - and I don't believe she's lying either - I think that's a result of Sawyer messing with Jack to weasel his way in there with Kate. She even offered to tell Jack why she'd been arrested. I can't wait to see what we find out tonight!!!

So far, I like Kate. Can't wait for tonight's episode so that maybe we can get some more insight into what it is she did!!!

Although I'm practically dying to know all of Kate's secrets, I must confess her character is one of my least favorites. Maybe because we're opposites, she seems all confidant, and good with the fella's.. I dunno. Maybe tonight will turn me around. I'm so pumped!!! I wish there was some Claire, but I'm thinking she won't be back for some time.... just to keep me on edge. :'( ;)

Kate has been drawn sort of bland on the show. *She's there for the purpose of being "the babe" and "convict with a heart of gold" just like Jack is there to be "the reluctant, conflicted hero"- but aside from that two dimentional characterization they have been given so far, they really haven't been fleshed out too much considering Jack has had two flashback eps so far and tonight is Kate's second.

But...I'm curious. *We know that Kate has a "checkered past"- we were promised that by the VIPs. *We also know that she is a good person- she saved life of the guy who turned her in for reward money in Australia and was about to ask the Marshall to make sure he got that money when the accident happened! *As well...she saved the Marshall's life (for what it was worth) by putting the oxygen mask on him after he was knocked out. *She didn't have to save either of them because they had definitely "done her wrong"- but she did. *We know that she is Canadian but her father was stationed at a US Army base in Washington state. *She is undeniably attracted to both Sawyer and Jack. *And we still don't know what her crime(s) was (were)! *I'm at least hanging on until more of her past gets fleshed out...if they pull the same "you all guessed it anyway so we're not really telling you anything new" crap that they did with Jack's second flashback episode with Kate, I will be SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED! * >:(

I'm excited for this episode because Kate has seemed sort of flat so far. I'm really hoping that we're going to see a good story tonight to give her character some depth! (please, please)

you are right. *kate is annoying. *So are boone, clair, chaz and even Jacks gettin kinda "loser-ish", along with Michael (worst character on the show).

However, we may have to permit Boone over to the cool kid's side. According to his interview, he becomes a Disciple of Locke. We musn't let one of The Enlightened languish on the otherside of the island where his Lockeyness could be damaged.

Well, Charlie can come, but only without Claire. She, and smack, makes him a simpering idiot. Not sure about Sun. On one hand, we may need her medical expertise/herbal knowledge. On the otherhand, she makes poor Jin upset and stressed.

I think Kate has been very dramatic....she has to run to everyone's rescue and be a part of everything...it is starting to annoy me.
