There's been some debate on how many tail section survivors there actually were. I've gotten some pm's from folks over at Wikipedia (where I guess a debate has been going on over this) as to my answer on this thread. So I asked both Javi and Raggs this question. Just wanted to have it stated for the record....Goodwin was included in Libby's count of 23.

Hi! I have never posted anywhere before so forgive any mistakes.
I noticed various posts on different sites asking about the Dharma logo. This is about the only thing I do know that has been in the show.
The staff and serpent logo was the mark of the Therapeutai. The Thereputes were a jewish sect of healers closley connected with the Essenes of Qumran. Qumran is the location where the famous Dead Sea Scrolls were unearthed. The symbol eventually became an almost worldwide symbol for medicine and the Theraputes gave us the words we use today : Therapy, theraputic etc..

There are many scholars who believe Jesus was an Essene and was a part of the Qumran community.

The snow/sea spray thing...I have to agree with Honbun on this one. There's been a lot of arguing on this point at the 'lage. No definitive answer in the show or by the creators.

Also agree with Honbun on the Ethan/Zeke/Goodwin connection. We need the Goodwin connection (more than just the list making) to know for sure.

I added your answer about Locke and the Mary statues and also added a new question to the BLU-Q List about whether he had any ulterior motives.

Don't know the first half. The second half is at least partially answered in Lockdown (2.17). This could just be one of those questions that has no definitive answer, like "Why does Sawyer have long hair" or "Why does Bernard like chocolate?" The writers might have been trying to throw us conspiracy theorists a bone with the following conversation:

Sawyer: So where you'd learn to play cards, Doc?
Jack: Phuket.
Sawyer: The hell you doin' in Thailand? [Jack smirks] What, you don't think I know where Phuket is? Just 'cause I dropped out of 9th grade don't make me an idiot. Far east, huh? Wouldn't have taken you for a world traveller. That where you got the art on your shoulder?

There may very well be a more thorough explanation in the future; until then this is all we've got to go on. Please note, Jack never actually confirms or denies Sawyer's question, instead he recognizes the small talk as a not-too-subtle attempt at misdirection and asks Sawyer to re-deal the cards.

this week's podcast answered a question I was about to ask about The Pearl and what appeared, to me to be heroin and a couple straws, on the tray in front of the left chair.

It is the same guy, confirmed on the lost season 2 DVD boxset (full season 2 in the uk) in the lost connections section.

Has also been answered in the DVD boxsets, one of the commentaries (which I can't remember now, but I believe it was the one where Mr Eko confronted the black smoke) The sound (specifically the clicking) is the sound of a receipt printer from a new york taxi cab, hence why rose (who as above mentions) lives in the bronx is reminded of it.

Im not sure if the Hanso foundation sites are going to be viewed as official canon or not, however in answer to:

Answer: If he's really dead, then he died on 9/22/04, the day the plane crashed. We see this in LTDA. I don't now if this answer should be included though since we don't know 100% that he's really dead.
