Has anybody figured out what he's saying yet? It sounds to me like "coming then a close" which makes no sense.
Redemption_Isle 11-11-2005, 07:12 AM Sounds like "{they're} coming and they're close."
PrincessV 11-11-2005, 07:33 AM Yes, I agree with Isle, it sounds like 'they're coming and they're close'
cbsgough 11-11-2005, 08:41 AM Someone had this up five minutes after it aired, it is they're coming and they're close
Souls_Descend 11-11-2005, 09:01 AM All I know is listening to the original backwards clip on repeat, with it being really late here and really dark in my room is very disturbing to say the least. :eek2:
zoneviii 11-11-2005, 09:33 AM Does anyone else think that those loud whispers that the Tallies heard sounded alot like Walt's whisper?
Or is it just me? It didn't hit me till I rewatched it... but maybe I'm looking too hard... like Walt was trying to warn everyone...
DIonisis6 11-11-2005, 09:38 AM I just got done watching the episode and to me it seems like Walt was warning Shannon of Ana and crew....
Astrohman 11-11-2005, 09:47 AM Has anyone come up with any theories as to why Walt is speaking backwards?

Good point. The whispers could be other abducted people attempting to warn the survivors. Unfortunately they can't make visual contact, and even if they could their words still are coming out backward.
Cue Professor Sayeed Hinkley to figure how to unscramble the messages.
Mad.Matt 11-11-2005, 09:56 AM I have two loose theories:
Theory 1:
The Seabillies are actually the Darma group involved with remote viewing, and although they tried to kill Michael, Jin and Sawyer, they may still actually be one of the GDs (Good Dahrmas). Their remote viewing capabilities have advanced beyond just invisible observation to actual teleportation, but there's a glitch in the system where everything appears or comes out backwards.
Theory2:
A twist on theory one above. Everything about the island environment itself is 180 degrees out of sync with the rest of the world. Anything viewed from outside the island is perceived as backwards. Walt is teleporting from the seabillies base outside of the island's influence, so he's being perceived as backwards. Fits with the backwards constellations threads we've heard, and the constant theme of "mirror images" .
Oh, and he's dripping wet because something in the process causes the body to overheat, so he's being doused with water during each transmission.
Walt is definitely aware of the others and is certainly trying to give the Losties hints, both here and during the "any button's good" message.
I think the others also have the ability to teleport, which explains the whispers, but they are transmitting local to the island and part of the BDs (Bad Dahrmas)
My .02 worth,
Mad.Matt

I had the same realization. Actually, I believe Walt is trying to warn that the others are getting closer, but its because the tallies are leading the others to the Lostaways.
DIonisis6 11-11-2005, 12:15 PM I do not think the Others have any clue about the Original lostaways and now that the Taillies are leading them to them they are learning of more survivors exist on the island.
From one side of the island to the other where both camps are is a huge trek to be constantly doing so I personally think that the Others are clueless to Jack and crew.
Ethan was probably an "Other" but possibly never had the chance to contact his people to let them know of the other side of the island.
He did slip around a lot it seemed and his clothes could have been someone whom died or he found a suit case.
Danielle knows of the others but she seems to know a lot about everything. Does anyone think that she could possibly be a part of the Dharma collective some how and completely lied about everything about how she got there (Alex, husband) and is actually controlling everyone and everything that is happening on the island?
tustinlockesmith 11-11-2005, 02:42 PM I never thought about that.... maybe Danielle is lying, but why would she herself set traps and such in what I assume, is hopes of maybe catching these others? But if she knew about Desmonds hatch why wouldn't she be staying "safe" in there with him?
Dagirlindajeans 11-11-2005, 03:23 PM I'm definately leaning towards, the Other's not knowing about the Jack-group and that's why there haven't been many abductions. (Except for Diary girl, right?) And I definately think that now the taillies have brought the others to the massive group of people and chaos will now ensue!
I'm also thinking that Ethan wasn't an other because, Mr. Eko told Jin that the others don't leave tracks but Jack et al were able to trace Ethan through the jungle. I think he was working with Danielle. And those two were just other people not related to our scary 'Others'.
