Okay...have we a Mother Abigail in Rose? Guiding Charlie towards the "good" side? I might be remembering wrong, but isn't one of Mother Abigail's catch phrases "Right as rain, children," just like Jack said to Sawyer when threatening to take away his medicine?
Hmmmmm?

Hmm..not sure. It's been ages since I have read it. The one saying of her's that sicks in my head is "Mayhap it is, and Mayhap it ain't." But Rose was giving off strong Mother Abby vibes.

I thought the prayer at the end was very Mother Abigail, although I'm sure there are a number of people who pray in that fashion.

As I recall it, Mother Abigail was big on DOING what God asked of you, not on you ASKING for God's help. "Where were you when I created the world" was how she quoted God wasn't it?
Sadly, Rose didn't clarify what she thought Charlie should do, other than ask for help. When he asks HER, she says no I can't, then starts the prayer ASKING for help, not direction.

 Has anyone seen Joan of Arcada?? that series where GOD is in one person and gives advice to Joan...I never saw it just seen the previews, but think about Rose being that one person that GOD is using to help others believe that there are "other" survivors and to calm them down and give them hope

You're reading too much between the lines. Rose told Charlie that he needs help, but she is not the one who can give it to him. She then leads him in prayer, indication that he needs to look to the Lord for help.
Remember, there is a very fine line between "denial" and "faith". <-- I think that was the word she used.
She's not representative of anyone in particular. Just as with any other part of this story, there are similarities with other stories.

r4stl1n, I think you're taking the post too seriously...I'm pretty sure we all don't think any of our theories are RIGHT! or WRONG!, they're just theories! ;) The creators themselves have cheered the folks who drew comparisons to The Stand, telling us that it was intentional. That's not to say that WHEEE, everything is The Stand-y! It's more to say that anything is possible, there is no such thing as reading too much into anything. Heck, the creators have told us that the colors of characters' shirts are actually representative of things....they just don't say what. So we speculate. It's fun!
On those lines: I *think* it was JJ who acknowledged that Locke was something of a Randall Flagg character--not necessarily evil incarnate like Flagg, just that he shares some characteristics. (For all we know, Flagg's cool, slick, mysterious ways impressed JJ and he made a GOOD character with similar traits, ya know...?)
Let the battle of Rose and Locke begin!
WHEEEEEEEE!
