Okay, really loving Harold Perrineau, Jr.

First of all, I got the DVD of Season One, and in case people haven't seen it yet, I'll spoiler font the following, as I'm not sure if discussion on that is still considered a "spoiler":

In the blooper section, Harold Perrineau's two bloopers are SO hilarious that it is beyond description, especially the one in which he just spontaneously starts talking in this HILARIOUS dialect and lecturing about what he feels is the correct pronunciation of "raft" ROFLMBO! omg, I had NO IDEA that he was SO HILARIOUS!!!!!!! He could be a stand-up comic in his spare time!

Second of all, I love the depth he brings to his character, Michael. I don't think anyone else on the planet could do such a moving job of portraying the love, frustration, hurt, anger, etc. that this character has gone through.

Finally, at the end of "Abandoned", the expression on Michael's face was worthy of a whole new Emmy category called "Best Facial Expression in a Dramatic Scene" or "Best Job of Conveying The Full Spectrum of Emotions Going on in a Scene". omg, his FACE! He looked SO horrified, he PERFECTLY captured the complete awfulness of that moment.

Anyway, due to all of the above and so much more, I now love Harold Perrineau, Jr. and his character, Michael, is right up there in the Lockefan Book-o-Fave-LOST-Characters. Of course, Locke and Hurley are still my #1 faves (it's a tie!), but Michael is right up there in the ever-more-crowded field-o-top-faves.

Anyone who has not seen the Season One bonus DVD, you need to get it, btw. The whole thing is fascinating, but the Harold Perrineau, Jr. bloopers turn out to be the surprise best thing about the entire thing!

Lockefan, thanks for mentioning the bloopers. That's one part of my dvds that I haven't explored yet. I'm well aware that Harold has a wonderful comedic talent. It's one of the things I have complained that we really haven't seen much of in the show. Maybe Libby will help bring Michael's sense of humor to the surface though.

omg, I won't give away anything too specific about his two HILARIOUS bloopers, but one in particular truly just had me on the floor. And, not to brag, but friends and "others" alike are always telling me that I should be a comedian because I am very good at doing characters and improv. schtick, etc. I really love and appreciate comedy and have an excellent ear for it. When I saw this one blooper of Michael's, I was literally LOL and had to watch it several times. He just went from zero to 60 in ONE moment flat as far as going from his Michael character into this whole other character and the DIALECT combined with the 'tude is what was so hilarious to me. Dana Carvey once said that comedy is all about music. It is all tone and striking the right note, timing, key, etc. HP does that and, as soon as I saw his bloopers, I recognized right away that he is a fellow COMIC of the highest order. That is so cool that he has the full range of talent from poignant drama to brilliant comedy. Mind you, his bloopers are very short, so I don't mean to make it seem like they are some long scenes, just short little moments, but to one who appreciates great humor, those moments are worth the price of the DVD set. The blooper about the raft, in particular, is my favorite moment of the entire DVD. And I'll just say that it isn't really to do with anything he says, but the WAY he says it *LOL*!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! omg, too funny.

I will just say one "spoilery" thing, too: In the other blooper that HP is in, the actress who plays Susan (Walt's mother) is also in it, and she is really funny, too, because she is so deadpan and sort of stays in her chilly "other" character *lol*. The entire "bonus" DVD is spellbinding, if'n ya ask me.
