Did I hear correctly when she was talking to Boone about being gone so much during the day. Didn't she say, "Is he one of your boyfriends now?"

Yes, or something similar. I thought it was maybe "is he your new boyfriend?". She said it pretty sarcasticly, though, so I don't know if it was a true indication of his sexual orientation.

Yup, but I think it was more like "Is he your new boyfriend now?"

I started a post about it somewhere a little further down, and I think people are torn up between thinking it was a throw-away line that means Boone is actually homosexual, or a line that was put in there on purpose to be a red herring.

It was weird how Boone said nothing afterwards. I couldn't figure out if it meant it was like:

Boone: Oh, shannon's so immature. Whatever.

Boone: Grr, Shannon mentioning my past boyfriends! >:|

Yah--it was very hard to tell on both ends of it--Shannon's intention and Boone's reaction.

The other line in their conversation that intrigued me is Boone called Shannon useless. I mean, if you think about it, this is a pretty devastating thing to call someone, especially your sister. So, that was a good set-up for next week.

Isn't it funny how every week we get these new questions that we think will be answered next Wednesday?

i have to say shannon said it sincerely and not in her bratty tone, like a hurt child. a straight guy would have said some sort of comment like LATE said. he just looked at her wide eyed and almost guilty. she seemed almost jealous.

Boone is definitly homosexual, it hit me the second Shannon made that comment. I totally didn't see it coming but after Shannon's comment it strangly made sense.

I just watched that scene again. Shannon was not sarcastic at all. She would have said it with more bite.

You can put me solidly in the Boone is Gay column, but Shannon strikes me as someone who can be a bit dry witted. I hate to compare myself to her, but a lot of times people can't tell if I'm being serious or if I'm being sarcastic. People always think I'm serious when I'm kidding. So, perhaps Shannon is simliar? If she's a socialite it make make sense for her to be a bit biting, but able to hide it well.

Thats how I am as well. People never know when Im being serious, sarcastic or joking because I tend to be quite sarcastic. :) lol. Infact I often get myself in trouble because of it. But anyway. Im not sure what to think thought but sometimes I have thought Boone was gay quite a few times now...

Maybe I'm recalling incorrectly, but I thought that the creators said that no one on the show was homosexual.

Omagus, I've never heard that but that's probably just me being out of the loop. If that was said, it could change. George's dad on Dead Like Me was supposed to be gay...well, that changed.

Statistically speaking, since an estimated 7-15% of the population is 'gay', between 2.8 and 6 of the survivors should be.* But since when has TV been an accurate reflection of the real world? ::)

I thought it was said sarcastically. I'm in the "Boone is straight camp". I thought Shannon was just trying to make him mad. If he were gay, I think "Is he your new boyfriend" would be said more inquisitively like - gee, maybe he *is* your new boyfriend.

Did TPTB only say that none of the characters were gay, or did they go so far as to say that none of the characters were bisexual? Maybe Boone is bisexual?

I'm with you people that are sarcastic, but people can't always tell. If my brother was gay I would say, "Is he your new boyfriend?". If he was straight I would say, "Is he your boyfriend now?" The difference being that he would be a "new" boyfriend, only if there had been an "old" boyfriend. If he's a new boyfriend, there was an old boyfriend, and Boone is gay.

I hate this line because it gives us nothing other than the fact that the producers know what the fans speculate - it could easily mean he's gay, but just as easily be a red herring. Grr! The problem is I don't know if that line was meant for the average fans of the show, or the lostaholics who already had the "Boone is Gay" theory floating around for awhile.

I have a whopping 1 dollar bet riding on this ;)

I win if Boone is gay or incestuous, he wins if Boone and Shannon are just normal siblings or not really related at all.

(root for me!)

And good catch on the "new". makemelaugh.

youve picked up on a subtle but important difference in how he could have worded it. i think you're right. and judging by her tone of voice, and his reaction (ie: not denying it, and not seeming surprised by her question).... boone is quite possible batting for the other team. that is to say. he is gay.

Here is another thought. Perhaps both Boone and Shannon are gay ? "Two characters are related in a way other than what we think" If they were both gey they may have gotten married for the benefits that come with it. The brother/sister lie could be a cover as to why they aren't more intimate...each not be interested in the opposite sex. It wouldn't be without precedent.

I don't think Shannon's a lesbian. Did you see the Sayid/Shannon bedroom eyes? She also lived with that guy in France. I think romance was being implied with that situation. I can't provide you with better reasonings because it's spolier-y.

I think Boone's reaction says more than Shannon's words. Considering he jumps on everything she says or does his lack of anger at the question seems telling.

To me he seemed more annoyed that she was purposely misunderstanding his relationship with Locke than that she was stating an untruth about him.

In any case we will know eventually.
