What was going on with the ax? Why didnt Locke want anyone to see Boone take it?

Well, they must be using it to get to whatever it was they discovered. For whatever reason--and as last night's preview showed--Locke does not seem to want to let others know about that discovery....

RIght. I'm guessing they need it to clear the jungle foliage that had grown over whatever it is they found. Locke didn't want people to be like, "Hey, what do you need an ax for to search for Claire?"

I'm actually VERY glad they didn't answer the WHAT DID THEY FIND? question this week, as it sorta helps keep us in the same place knowledge-of-what's-going-on-wise as the rest of the survivors.

Locke is trying to find out who they are up against. If Boone attempts to tell everyone where's the surprise?

Locke needs to keep a lid on what they have found in case it might be trouble and only 2 people know about it.

Locke knows that they have been infultrated before and he can't let information out into the open unless he knows what's going on.

He probably hit Boone for his own safety.

I completely agree, whatever it was that they found needs to be kept on the down low. If they tell all the people at the beach and at the caves they will all want to help and see for themselves. Perhaps Looke and Boone found an old entrance to the underground place and if they want to have any chance of sneaking in and finding Claire without encountering a huge resistance they will need to be quite and stealth. If everyone knows about it, the "others" will soon find out that they have found it and there will be no hope for Claire.

I agree. Charlie was almost killed. I think Locke is trying to protect the others till he knows what's going on. Plus, I think Locke wants to be in control and that he realizes secrets have been kept from him. Now he has his own secret.

i was also kinda glad not to find out about the metal thing....just keeps you hooked so you will watch next week!

I guess maybe he was too distracted with the case, but I still expected some sort of comment.

Have you ever been in a workplace with only one stapler and you need it and it's not where it's supposed to be?

Poor Boone. First he suffered the humiliation of not being able to save that drowning woman (even though he's a certified lifeguard, he certainly got whipped by Jack), then he got his pretty face smashed by Sawyer for rifling through his stuff, and now he's getting whacked from behind by Locke. Heh.

I did, too. I mean, Michael even mentioned it specifically as something Sawyer could try out. But then, who's to say Sawyer even went looking for the ax? Maybe he just decided to pound the case on a rock. So he might not even have known the ax was gone.

Especially since everyone was in the process of moving everything on the beach--it may have been impossible to find.
