Ana was about to tell Libby at the beginning of this episode, but she got interrupted. Any guesses to what her profession might be? I've heard lots of people say they think she's a cop, or possibly the plane's fire marshal. Anyone else? NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

I think she is crazy personally. :P

Since Ana hasn't said her profession, how could telling you what it is not be a spoiler? Just from what we've seen i'd say she's definetly had some kind of law enforcement/ military training.

She's got to be a stripper.

I think pbj is just looking to generate ideas. If it's just discussing based on clues so far, it's not a spoiler.

There is a spoiler out there that confirms what Ana's profession is/was, so that's probably the one pbj doesn't want revealed--the confirmation vs. just the speculation.

I'd guess that she's in law enforcement. She knew CPR, was able to calmly and efficiently talk Bernard into grabbing for the tree, had a definite knowledge of interrogation, can kick some major *** and has gun skills and weapons knowledge. I doubt she is an air-industry marshall or anything bc in Exodus from last year she tells Jack that she hates to fly, and that's why she's drinking so early in the day.

I think some sort of law enforcement. Definetely explains why she's so tough.

I think she was a hockey player, check out the stick she made in this episode...

Her being a cop has been the consensus all along, but in that article with one of the producers, it said that her profession would be a big surprise. Anything to do with law enforcement isn't going to be surprising. Even if I had never read anything on here or listened to spoilers, just watching her in the show, law enforcement comes to mind. To be truly "wow" she must be a clown or a lunchroom lady or a wal mart greeter.

I think you mean AIR Marshall not Fire Marshall lol Maybe shes a parade marshall?

You can tell she's a cop or a PI by the way she was checking the bodies for ID's and clothes tags. Too professional.

don't forget she knew how old that military knife was too... maybe she's in special forces or something like that.... i've known military folk who hated to fly even though they had to do it often. my other thought was that she might be a prison guard of some sort of officer in the juvenile justice system. she seemed to really want to keep her promise to the little girl.. anyway, just a few ideas i had...

I will be very surprised if her profession is a surprise. TPTB always say things like "shocking" and it usually isn't to people who follow the show somewhat closely.

i don't think she got interrupted. i interpreted her silence as deliberate. i guessed some time ago that she was an air marshall (especially as she was in the back of the plane--better to see you with, er, from, my dear). not sure about that, but pretty confident she's law enforcment of some type, especially given her wariness, her interrogations skills, etc. (interrogating nathan and goodwin, having eko hit her and send her into the pit with "our" losties, knwledge of knives and gun handling, etc.).

This might sound like a lame question but I really don't know the answer.

If AL was an air marshall wouldn't she have known the other marshall on the plane? Or at least known that he was one? And if so wouldn't Kate have seen her at one time or another?

I think she needs to be killed off. She's useless.

i don't think it's lame (here, few questions are lame!).

we don't know that she didn't know about ed mars. and i don't know whether they would necessarily know about each other (he was escorting a prisoner, she was there to watch for terrorists). what i know of air marshalls is that they are somewhat anonymous--for obvious reasons.

yes if she was there to back up the transporting of Kate...she apparently took a quick inventory of everyone's face who was on the plane...the strange thing is I'm not sure she was an air marshall, at least for that flight...

as a marshall wouldn't she have a shoulder holster and even possibly an ankle holster secured to her body??...I could see her losing her badge in the fall or in the water but we saw people still had many of their loose belongings still in their pockets...if so, it would seem strange not to have her secured, button downed weapon still on her person...possible of course, but I think she was there for a different reason....

duh! :blushing: yup, more than likely if she were on board in any professional enforcement capacity she would have had a weapon which, given the circumstances as you describe, probably would still be on her....*back to the drawing board*

no biggie....I think it's fairly obvious(which means of course nothing with this show) that she's been/is in some sort of law enforcement or military position....now it wasn't hard to figure out the knife was military as it had US Army engraved on it:) but she knew the approximate age....also when she was digging the prison pit with relative ease, I immediately thought large fighting hole or latrine...she's constantly trying to read people and situations...interrogating skills, no way she holds her gun like that without training and everything else mentioned....although it would be great to see her profession revealed as something none of us have come up with yet....

My guess is she's a "gangster" (or something similar) from Los Angeles (where I believe the destination of their flight was) or a bounty hunter.

I agree with the military thing.. I think she's going to end up being special forces, or maybe she was a terrorist who was supposed to hijack the plane?? She had that weird phone call just before she got on the plane... :O

LostbyChoiceAgain

Maybe she was in some sort of security job for Oceanic and when Shannon told the cop at the airport there was an "some Arab guy" in the waiting lounge, they called her on her cell phone to go take a look...then told her to get on the flight an follow him for international security reasons (Sayid). If that is true, they would have seen each other on the plane, so Sayid would recognize her. Just a thought. I agree she seems like she has had some SWAT training or something, because she knows how to talk to people in a 'situation'. (Bernard).

FarAway

Or maybe she's under-cover CIA and was keeping tabs on Sayyid.

Moriquenya

Bounty hunter was my first guess. Then again, she could be an inner-city school teacher. Some of us can kick major azz, I'll have you know!

I think Law enforcement or military. However, she's killed people before being on the Island. So, I also thought about CIA/FBI/or Spec. OPs in the military.

Well, we can clearly conclude at the least, she is a red hot latina mama with a serious disposition.

Not to mention, Ryan from the transmission confirmed through photos that she is most certainly a police officer in LA.

Fogey
11-21-2005, 01:48 AM
A lot of what I have seen in her suggests police officer or a similar career. However her actions with the 2 kids suggests to me that she has issues where children are concerned. So possibly she either she lost one/some of her own or worked with saving kids from harm.

giggles
11-21-2005, 01:53 AM
i could honestly see her as something to do with kids and outdoorsy stuff. she is really worried about keeping an eye on kids. also along with the CPR thing, many people who work as camp leaders or things like that, must know CPR. plus, she's pretty good with surviving in the wild and not being tracked and things of an outdoor nature

jessieslost
11-21-2005, 03:09 PM
My guess is she was a cop. I don't think she was working the day of the flight. I have a feeling that she was either suspended from the force or made to take some sort of hiatus. It probably had to do with her accidentally shooting some kids' parents.

She also could have been military- fighting terrorists in the Middle East. That would make for more Sayis conflict.

yup, a cop, it was stated on the deltaparkproject podcast

11-21-2005, 04:17 PM
she defiantely drew that gun and pulled instant back and forth surveliance around the group like a trained professional, doesn't make her a cop now though! I am guessing she borders on the wrong side of the law from time to time- maybe she is undercover but has strong Girl Scout ties to her past?

corvin12xu
11-21-2005, 04:37 PM
My guess is ex cop or military but now she is either a teacher or school security guard.

I think she has lived two very different lives but both dealt with being an authority figure.

Alkcalien
11-21-2005, 04:53 PM
My best guess cop

Could be ex-cop with at least one IA investigation in her past due to her itchy trigger finger. Probably shot some poor innocent bystander, whose relative then tried to take revenge and kill Ana-Lucifer.

Veiny Eyeball

While she's almost certainly a cop, it would have been a wonderful treat to reveal her as an ex-militant (terrorist) of sorts now working for the government. Pointing to HANSO/DHARMA as the militant organisation would have been an interesting twist, too.

Since we're supposed to be surprised by Ana Lucia's profession, why not think of some really far-out ones for her:

beautician

philosophy professor

management consultant

speech therapist (because she ee.nunn.cee.ates so well)

interior decorator

race car driver

rocket scientist

Wal-Mart clerk

nun

c'mon, guys . . . .

I noticed in the episode (really surprised no one else did) that when they were getting ready to hurridly climb up some kind of incline after an alarming noise (can't even remember what part), she distinctly grabbed at her belt - like looking for a holstered gun that wasn't there.

That definately speaks of something to do with . . . well, guns. It was a completely instinctive move.

Anyone want to confirm/deny this?
