In the episode tonight it said that happened on day 40, IIRC, for the tailies.

Didn't Boone crash much earlier for the losties? Like about day 20 - 30?

I don't recall specifically, but that seemed off to me???????

no. the first season ended on the 43rd day. and boone died very close to that, very close to the end of the season. it all syncs up.

Yeah, the writer's wouldn't let simple things such as event's like that not synch up right.

Yeah, didn't he fall off the plane on about day 40 or 41?

So Shannon was shagging sayid like a week after her past lover/brother died?

Did anyone else just wanna scream, "Noooooo!" when Ana grabbed the radio away??? I was like, "There went your chance!"

I was just looking at the timeline on http://lost.cubit.net/index.php

and it says:

36Day On Island Locke & Boone find bodies and plane full of drugs from Nigeria, Boone critically injured [1x19]

36Day On Island Boone dies [s1xe20]

Hmmmmmmm. Maybe his timeline is off, but that's interesting.

Well after looking at this timeline, it appears the other is wrong, and this one coincides with the day 40 radio contact that happened in this episode.

Day 41 Locke and Boone find a Drug smuggler's plane from Nigeria. Locke finds a gun on a smuggler. Boone is critically injured when the plane falls from its precarious position

from this site:

I was wrong. Sorry!

It was so strange to be on the other end of the conversation. Sad that Boone never was able to tell Locke he made radio contact with someone. Doesn't make much of a difference I guess....

I know! It was sad to hear his voice, and know that on the "other side" of the island, he was about to plummet to imminent death. :frown:

The days don't seem to add up correctly if Boone really died on Day 40 or 41. A lot happened in those 3 days if that was the case. I agree with the posting that said he died on day 36. The grave that Shannon was sitting at looked like it had been there longer than 7 days. Walt also had time to interact with Shannon before he left on the raft to know that she needed Vincent to take care of her. To me it looks as if the writer's didn't proof the episode before it aired. All it would have taken was Day 36 instead of Day 40 at the bottom of the screen.

The Diary writer on the ABC site states that Boone was brought back to the camp in bad shape on Day 36.
And we know he died not long after he was brought in.

EP 19: DEUS EX MACHINA
Day 40
Boone speaks on the drug plane radio with Bernard. The plane falls.
Night 40
Locke leaves Boone with Jack at the caves, then flees to the hatch which lights up.

EP 20: DO NO HARM
Shannon spends the night with Sayid.
Jack struggles all night to save him, but Boone dies just before morning, as Claire gives birth to her (as yet unnamed) baby.
Day 41
First thing in the morning, Claire shows her baby to the other lostaways as Jack tells the returning Shannon Boone.

EP 21: THE GREATER GOOD
The lostaways bury Boone. Locke returns at his funeral and Jack attacks him.
Kate drugs Jack, who hasn't slept in days.
Shannon asks Sayid to "take care" of Locke.
Sayid interrigates Locke, as he is shown the fallen drug plane, ultimately believing his innocence.
Charlie tries everything to stop the baby crying. Finds the solution with Sawyer's voice.
Shannon takes matters into her own hands and steals the gun case key from around Jack's neck.
She takes a gun and confronts Locke. Sayid stops her and Locke escapes with just a grazed forehead.
Night 41
Sayid tells Locke to take him to the hatch. The real hatch.

EP 22: BORN TO RUN
Day 42
Arzt tells the lostaways that monsoon season is coming and the laft must be launch ASAP.
Kate tries for Sawyer's spot on the raft.
Sayid takes Jack to see the hatch.
Michael becomes severly sick. (because Sun has poisoned the drinking water she thought Jin would drink.)
Walt freaks out when Locke touches him and tells him "Don't open it! That thing... Don't open it!"
Sawyer outs Kate as the fugitive to the other lostaways.
Jack works out that Sun was responcible for Michael's sudden illness as Michael recovers.
Night 42
Walt comes clean about burning the first raft.
We find out that Kate suggested that Sun poison the water.

EP 23: EXODUS PART 1
Day 43
First thing in the morning: Danielle appears at the camp and tells the lostaways that "the others are coming."
Everyone rallies around to complete the raft and lay down tracks to the water.
The black smoke appears.
They come up with the plan to hide everyone in the hatch.
Sawyer tells Jack about meeting his father in Sydney.
Charlie collects messages for a bottle to send with the raft.
Jack, Kate, Danielle, Hurley, Locke and Arzt head off for the "Black Rock" to collect some dynamite.
The "security system" shows up, but passes them by.
Walt gives Vincent to Shannon to look after.
The expedition arrives at the Black Rock slave ship.
Sun gives Jin the book of english/korean translations. They reconcile.
Everyone says goodbye to the Michael, Walt, Jin and Sawyer.
The raft sets sail.

EP 24: EXODUS PART 2
Daniel leaves the expedition and heads back to the beach.
Jack, Locke and Kate enter the ship and take out the dynamite.
Arzt shows them how to wrap the explosives properly, and then blows up.
Jack and Locke pack the dynamite.
Danielle shows up at the beach and knocks out Claire, taking her baby.
Charlie and Sayid take off after Danielle and the baby. Claire tells Charlie to bring "Aaron" back to her.
The rudder falls off the raft when they go over a "log" and Sawyer retrieves it.
The beach camp packs up and moves to the caves.
Charlie and Sayid come across the drug plane. Charlie takes some heroin, you know, for the road.
The expedition set back off only to be attacked by the security system. They see the weird smoke stuff and then trees start exploding and it tries to pull Locke down a hole in the ground. Kate throws dynamite down and it lets Locke go as more weird black smoke comes out and flies off.
Jin gives Michael the watch that he once beat the crap out of him for.
Charlie gets hurt by a booby-trap and Sayid fixes the wound with gun powder (ouch!)
Night 43
Jack and Locke have their "man of science vs. man of faith" conflict.
On the raft, a blip appears on the radar.
The expedition return to the hatch and lay the dynamite.
Charlie and Sayid arrive at the source of the black smoke. They get Aaron back from Danielle and she says "the others" said they were coming for the boy.
Just before the fuse is lit on the dynamite, Hurley sees the numbers on the side of the hatch and freaks out. Locke sets the fuse anyway and they blow the hatch.
The raftees fire their rescue flair and a boat comes. Weird gruff "(possible) others" take Walt and destroy the raft. Sawyer gets shot in the process.
Aaron is returned to Claire.
Jack and Locke remove the blown up hatch door and look inside. All we see is a long long long long tunnel downwards.

SO... the next few episodes with the hatch and the raft also take place on Night 43. The morning when Desmond runs off and the raftees wash up on tailaway shore and are then captured by Eko and co. is Day 44. It makes sense...

The show was right. Boone died on Night 40. They just cram a LOT of stuff into each episode.

Where did you get that timeline from? I saw one that was based on their assumption that days 34-38 passed without being on the show. There is no proof that these 4 days passed offscreen besides vague dialogue. I have seen several conflicting timelines, including ABC's own timeline, to trust one that just starts on Day 40.

just now i fast-forwarded through those episodes i went through above. because the post before said that a lot of stuff happened for boone to have only died a week ago.

i guess there could have been a missing 4 days before boone died. but since that happened, i doubt they've missed out 4 days as the story has been extremely fast moving.

Guys, this show ain't perfect. If the time lines don't match up I think it's just an honest mistake on the part of the show. If you are using the diary as reference, I suppose there is a chance that person didn't start writing it until a few days in? So perhaps it's the 38th day of writing in the diary.

Either way, I think allowing the show a few mistakes is OK.

I could swear that in Season 1, Boone said "We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight Eight-Fifteen."

In this episode he said "We are the survivors of Oceanic Flight Eight-One-Five."

And it will be sad that neither side will ever know how close they were because, with Boone's dying ... he took that info to the grave with him.

It is possible that it would come out how close they were, though I doubt we will actually see that happen. Locke knew that there was a radio in the plane that Boone was going for/attempting to use, he just didn't know that Boone had contacted anyone. It wouldn't be hard for them to piece together that they'd contacted someone, yada yada, but, then again, a whole lot of stuff would 'come out' and make sense if people just talked more...

i did not notice this, great find! please confirm!

I thought it was cool Bernard was the voice on the other end. Could Rose have a secret receiver somewhere? how come she is absolutely sure Bernard is alive? Did she hear this conversation? Now I cant wait for a reunion and flashback.

Boone and Shannon die within a weeks timeframe that is odd. but also wasnt it SIX (the new 4 8 15 16 23 42) days between "other" abductions on the tailie beach, paralleling 6 days between boone and shannons death?

I knew this scene was coming the entire episode and it was really cool to be on the other end of it, As soon as Ana turned off the radio I was like well down goes Boone.

Last night, I believe they came back on day 12.

the conversation in 'Do No Harm' went (i've bolded the words that didn't appear in 'The Other 48 Days'):

Boone: Hello. Hello. Anybody out there? Mayday! Mayday!
radio: Is someone there?
Boone: Hello! Hello! ... Can you hear me?
radio: Repeat your transmission, please.
Boone: Hello! We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic flight eight one five. Please copy.
radio: Hello! We're the survivors of Oceanic flight eight one five.

the conversation in 'The Other 48 Days' went (again, i've bolded the words that didn't appear in 'Do No Harm'):

radio: Hello. Hello. Anybody out there? Mayday! Mayday!
Bernard: Is there someone there?
radio: Hello! Hello! ... Can you hear me?
Bernard: Repeat your transmission, please.
radio: Hello! We're survivors of the crash of Oceanic flight eight one five. Please copy.
Bernard: We're the survivors of flight eight one five.

Also, Bernards voice and the line reading is completely different to the voice we heard in 'Do No Harm'.

*sigh*

I know it's nitpicking, and that the casual viewer sure as hell won't notice that, but come on... If they're not going to bother with continuity as obvious as simply saying the same dialogue, we REALLY shouldn't be surprised when other slip-ups happen.

The missing words is easy: there was lots of static on the line. You couldn't hear every word because of the static. The static also accounts for the difference in voice. My voice sounds very different on an answering machine than it does on a telephone than it does on a two-way.

(How's that for a fanwank?) :)
