View Full Version : Goodwin a Canadian too?
willbear 11-17-2005, 12:32 AM Wasn't Ethan Canadian too? They're has to be a connection, its not everyday Canada is mentioned in a big show like this and be that obvious.
Sorry if this was posted already, I can post a new message but I get "server busy" doing a search!
:)
Monkey 11-17-2005, 12:34 AM Maybe Canada has an evil plan to control the world and the island is it's test run?
darkpiranha 11-17-2005, 12:35 AM Note that Ontario, Canada butts up against Michigan, where the DeGroots were based out of.
houdini11 11-17-2005, 12:40 AM Wasn't it Nathan who said he was from Canada? When he was in the hole? I don't think Goodwin ever said that.

Well we are pretty evil up here, always plotting the demise of crash survivors on a remote islands is what we do best
Jezz1226 11-17-2005, 12:41 AM Good theory; however, we don't know for sure that Ethan is from Canada, he said he was from Ontario, but his words not the most trustworthy. Also, Hurley was the one who said Canada, there's other cities name Ontario including one near to the city Locke's from (can't think of the name right now, Tustin maybe?)
jericho73 11-17-2005, 12:47 AM Nathan said he was from Canada, it was never said where Goodwin was from.
carodeluxe 11-17-2005, 12:52 AM My guess is that Ethan, or whatever his real name was before he arrived on the island and picked a new name that cleverly rearranged to "other man," was legitimately from Ontario, Canada. As posted above, that would put him very close to the de Groots, maybe a co-researcher who got sucked into their evil experiment. I think it'd be hilarious to see William Mapother in someone's flashback, you know, before he became Ethan. He could be, like, a drunk or a womanizer or a huge nerd.
I think the show was just playing with us by having a guy who appeared to be an Other, whose name sounded like "Ethan," and who claimed to be from Canada. Red herring.
But, I was hoping Ana Lucia would say, "Canadian, huh? I haven't heard you say 'eh' a single time, you liar."
willbear 11-17-2005, 12:52 AM Im sorry, I just watched it again and I was wrong it was Nathan  Still more times I've heard "Canadian" in an American show I've ever seen! :)

just a quick note, Ontario is a province, not a city...
also, if someone asks where I'm from, I say London, Ontario, not just Ontario... but Ethan was a strange guy...
He may have meant Ontario, California, which is only a little east of LA... but has it's own international airport...
you know what, forget it, I'll stick to reading confusing posts, not creating them... lol
shera11 11-17-2005, 01:48 AM Maybe the last plane or boat that was brought to the island was from Canada.
Jezz1226 11-17-2005, 01:57 AM just a quick note, Ontario is a province, not a city...
sorry, my bad, I knew that too guess I just wasnt thinking as I was typing
QueenElessar 11-17-2005, 02:00 AM LOL...
As an Ontarian of Canada...
I have one thing to say....
 muhahahahahahah
darkpiranha 11-17-2005, 02:06 AM That reminds me of the old brainteaser...
If a plane crashes exactly on the American/Canadian border, where do they bury the survivors?
kajah 11-17-2005, 02:14 AM Kate also told the Australian farmer that she was from Canada.
caligo 11-17-2005, 02:27 AM OMG! I thought the 'evil Canadian plot' was a secret! Now everyone will want to join in! ha. ha. Man, that is soooo funny. Did you watch 11/16 episode? Did you like it? I think it ties up with the very 1st episode-it was riveting. Hopefully, the 'new' LOST survivors will be added to the character list soon, so that fans may send comments.
By the by, my great-grandparents came from Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada. My family lives in Vancouver, Washington, USA. -ey? ......Caligo.
PitStop 11-17-2005, 02:34 AM No, no, no!
Here's what I think.
Nathan - normal guy on the plane who really is from Canada, but get stuck in a pit and killed by an other.
When questioned by Hurley, other was supposed to say his name was Nathan, but screwed up the name and called himself Ethan...hence Hurley realized he was not on the manifest. If other hadn't screwed up, our original group would have had the same problem with people being taken. He (they) only got Claire before he got caught.
Goodwin - another name on the manifest if I'm not mistaken. I believe Claire calls it out at the funeral in first season.
so other takes name of Goodwin, but gets caught by Ana anyways.
I believe others concentrated on tail ender group because smaller numbers and two younger children.
My theory and I'm sticking to it!
