After watching tonight's show, I have come across of a couple more theories...during Ana's conversation with Goodwin and she reveals him as the "true" other, there is talk about the kids and why he snapped poor Nathan's neck.

The Children

The children from Flight 815 are obviously very valued by the Others. These mysterious islanders apparently stop at nothing to abduct these children. And if you notice, with the abduction of Walt and the two kids from this episode, they are not mistreated in anyway (as far as we can tell) as they are being carried off. They are not being clubbed/beaten as they scream for help. Walt's special abilities I believe are also a factor as to why they hunted him down but as far as the other children I feel that there is some other motive which leads to...

Nathan's Murder

The Canadian creep (which btw, if you notice Ethan Rom was "Canadian" as well) known as Nathan is the audience's window into discovering other secrets of the island. Goodwin informed Ana that he killed him because he wasn't good but the kids are perfectly ok? Perhaps there is some religious background to this whole situation. Children are viewed as the most innocent and pure out of all the souls on Earth. They are, for the most part, untainted and untouched by sinful concepts. And this ties back into...

Random Abductions

Perhaps all the seemingly random takings (which we know realize have been orchestrated via lists) are done on certain pretenses. Perhaps the tailies scooped out of their slumber and carried off to whatever demise have burdens on their shoulders that these island people know about..How do they know? They have been planting spies in with our castaways all along! (ie. Nathan, possibly, Goodwin, Ethan Rom).

Ok guys now theres my ideas out there...gimme some feedback and tell me what you think or didn't like...

Goodwin admitted he killed Nathan because he feared Ana would eventually start believing Nathan, turning her suspision toward him. Nathan was a survivor, not an "other".

I'm not so sure that Nathan was a survivor. Who was feeding him for one thing? Was
it Eko? If it was Goodwin, why would he do that only to kill him? I am still suspicious
that Ethan and Nathan were in league and not allied with Goodwin.

I agree that the emphasis semed to be on the children being taken, however i dont think its entirelly accurate to say they are the ones the others are specifically after. There have been in total 3 children taken- true the only 3 that survived, but thats compared with how many adults that have been taken? 8?? (sorry- havent counted). But numbers are numbers and still, there have been more adults taken than kide. I think the lack of clubbing of the children is that not only would the children be far easier to subdue and carry off, even when struggling, than a fully grown adult, i also think an adult would recover a LOT quicker and more easily from being knocked out than a child would.

He would feed him to gain his trust to get him to come up out of the pit when he came to kill him.

I thought it was Bernard or Goodwin at first, too. But when Ana asked who was feeding Nathan, Eko stepped up, and Ana said "You?" This was when Eko still wasn't talking, but I think we were supposed to be led to believe that it was Eko. Of course, not everything is as it seems, so I'm not sure on this one.:undecide:

The implication that Eko was feeding Nathan seemed pretty clear. Ana knew there was a mole, she just suspected the wrong man. The rest of the group, aside from Goodwin, simply thought Ana was behaving immorally towards Nathan.
