View Full Version : Jin is really an "Other"?

So he just got seperated from the raft and drifted through shark invested water to wash up on the shore? :undecide:

Or did he "purposely" hitch a ride on the Others' boat to be planted off the shore near the Tailies?

He worked for a super wealthy Korean Industrialist. Kind of like the Korean "Alvar Hanso". Jin's boss/father in-law and Hanso could be in business with each other. And what a great spy he would make if he really speaks english but pretends he cannot.

I had more on this theory but forgot it. :ohwell:

way too far of a stretch... If Jin is one of them, then so is his wife. Can't buy that one.

I vote this as an incredibly silly theory that no one should take seriously for more then a picosecond.

yes!!!! exactly

if he was an other why take the risk of going into unfriendly territory and being killed.

KOREAN??? looked white to me...

there are too many inconsistencies (not in a bad way but in a keep you guessing way) that make one wonder if people are who they say they are.

Jin is not an "other." Have we not been watching the development of his character?

LostGenie

Well then, maybe I should've said more like an "Other" operative. Like Desmond. A plant. The way Goodwin and Ethan were. Except he was on the plane.

He worked for a super wealthy Korean Industrialist. Kind of like the Korean version of "Alvar Hanso".
And that was to say that Sun's father was in cohoots with Hanso.

Nope, I don't buy it either.

Seriously, I don't buy it. They have made it a point of showing that Jin doesn't know English (although he has been learning a bit since he has been on the island).

The episode in season 1 where he sees everyone arguing and it sounds all garbled, like another language to the viewer is what sealed it for me. And there have been plenty of situations where Jin would have been a lot safer speaking English.

Well, never say never. Jin may be an unwilling "Other".:undecide:

My only question is:
Who isn't an Other to each other?

LostGenie: Anything is possible in this show. I don't know if I buy into it or not, but Jin as an Other accomplice, as you propose, is certainly a fascinating theory. Never hurts to kick an idea around and see what happens.

Jin culdn't have known that they would crash so he couldn't have found out from his boss about the others.

Well, there is a theory that everyone that was on Flight 815 were meant to be so as to crash on the island. Peoples lives have crossed paths on more than one occaision. I'm still leaning toward the crash survivors all being the results of some genetic experiment. Gene splicing and the like. Part of the Life Extension Project Hanso has been involved in.

Let's plant a spy in their midst and use someone who can not understand them. That way he can't reveal himself by slipping up in a conversation and he can't be persuaded by them to change sides. NEVER work.

I think that would be more of a plot possiblity for Alias than for Lost.

Why would they bother doing a backstory on Jin of he was one of 'them' or an 'other'?

We don't know that Desmond is a "plant." Nothing that we've been told so far about him leads to that conclusion. We can speculate but not state it for a fact. And nothing shows that Ethan or Goodwin were plants ... Goodwin as much as admitted he was an Other. Unless you mean a plant to fit in with the survivors. But Desmond was underground. What kind of a plant is that? If Boone and Locke hadn't found the hatch, he'd probably still be down there pushing that button.
Well, never say never. Jin may be an unwilling "Other".:undecide:
I don't think there could be any "unwilling" Others. They'd eliminate them as soon as they realized they weren't 110% into being with the group.

Sorry ... Jin = not an Other.

I can't see Jin as an Other but I have wondered where he was while Sawyer and Michael were on the raft, or what was left of it. I seem to remember that they fell asleep and woke up to daylight. Is that right? If it is, where was Jin?

The same way the tide took Michael and Sawyer back to the island it took Jin back. He was washed up on shore. He might have swam part of the way, don't know.

I agree. Sort of like "All roads lead to Rome" --except in this case, all currents lead back to the Island.
It doesn't want to let them go!

I can't even start to ask myself questions about the show, coz when I get an answer, I have 10 more questions.. and that's why I only watch and think, but I don't think to much...I love this show coz it's not like any other show on tv..

Well, Jin being an other.. mah.. I don't buy it either, but we can all be wrong...I've only seen the eppys once.. and I'm hoping for the box for xmas, so I can sit down and REALLY think and stuff... well now I lost it.. well ... anyway.. Jin's HOT :D

Jin's primary purpose is to protect Sun. I think being an Other would directly conflict with this.
