Alright I am rewatching the episode as we speak, and I will make some observations.
--Kate up in the tree, picking the fruit. Ok, now I noticed this the first time, too and said to myself... Hmm Eve picking the apple? And my boyfriend said, when she heard the noise, 'god, I hope that's not a snake. That'd just be horrible,' And I cracked up just because I figured it was Sawyer. 'Well, not so much a reptile, but I'd say snake covers it,' and sure enough... Sawyer. Sorry, just thought that was a terrific visual pun on their parts if that's indeed what was meant.
--Sawyer acted like a five year old when she caught him with that rock. And she was highly amused by it, might I add. "Me Kate. Me throw rock."
--Josh is a very graceful diver. *gigglesnort* (Ok, ok I'm sorry, but he is. Back to the important stuff...)
--First thing Sawyer asks once they've discovered the bodies is if Kate is ok. He's establishing the fact that he is being protective of her. First when she catches him following her 'Stalking you!? I was protecting you!' and now with this.
-- I could be wrong on this as I've just rewinded it ten times and still can't be positive... but when they change the scene from Kate/Sawyer to the beach and waves...is there a freaking metal kayak sitting on the beach? It looks like a kayak... but you only see like a second of it. They did say someone was building a raft, but I mean... a kayak???
--Hmm. When Jack and Sayid are talking, and Jack says he needs Sayid to take him back to the french woman, Sayid suddenly gets super defensive and brushes her off as crazy, and the voices he heard were just the wind. Does he not fully trust Jack, either?
-- In Kate's first flashback, I find it insanely ironic that her last name (even though I'm sure it's not her last name) is Ryan. As in Jack Ryan. As in The Fugitive. Ha. Good stuff. (I actually noticed that one the first time, too.
--Sidenote: Did anyone else bust up laughing when she headbutted Sawyer? I know I did.
--Kate demanded "Give it to me," and he said no. He has definetly set a precident of wanting to be asked, not told.
-- Shannon showed an amazing amount of depth in the first scene with Sayid. Between her interaction with Boone in previous eps and this one, it seems pretty well established that she'd been considered useless for a long time. At least by Boone, and possibly by others. I think her self esteem is shattered. She does nothing, therefor she doesn't have to live up to people's expectations of her. They expect nothing of her, and that's what she gives them. She rejects Sayid at first when he asks her to translate and I'm willing to bet that her self esteem plays a huge part in this. She's afraid to fail and have it thrown in her face.
--The number on the lock of the case is 208. Just figured I'd add it to a long list of numbers.
--I can understand Hurley knwoing about the Haliburton stuff, if only through vague knowledge. But Michael? Why in the world would he know so much about them?
--Is that a damn compass on Locke's vest in his first scene with Boone???
-- The scene with Sawyer and Kate where he is trying to break the case open and she runs and gets it before he can get back down... reminded me of Romancing the Stone, lol. No particular reason, I guess.
--Wow. Jack didn't exactly start off being very nice to Kate. "We have a problem? Or YOU have a problem?" I wonder where THAT hostility came from?
--So btw, now Sun knows about Kate, as per Kate's explanation about the case to Jack within earshot of Sun. Interesting...
--When Kate and Jack were talking about Sawyer having the case, Jack asked if he had it opened. Kate said no and then added, 'but he will, sooner or later,' Makes me wonder if its sooner...
-- When Jack said he needed to bury the marshall, I'm thinking this is because he was the one who ended his life. A bit of catharsis for what he had to do.
--Didn't dawn on me until after the scene where she tried to palm the key... but jack was wearing white and Kate was wearing black.
--HAHAHA... and the shirt Sawyer has on when Jack comes to see him has lots of gray... imagine that.
-- I KNEW IT! When she first pulls the plane out of the envelope, it is just like the Oceanic plane!
Alright, well, make from this what you will. I know I've simply reiterated some points, and simply made some observations. These were the things that stood out to me. Discuss. *;D
