View Full Version : Rose/Bernard..Sun/Jin..Mike/Vincent
LockeHurleySawyer 11-23-2005, 11:11 PM I was sobbing like a baby. I can't believe a TV Show got to me like this. I thought it was so touching how Bernard was pushing through the people and him and Rose ran to each other. She knew it!! She knew he was alive. See, he knew he was going back to her once he found out from the three that she was alive. But him coming back to her at that moment was a total surprise for her. It was so touching.
Sun & Jin - just precious. They love each other so much. Awwww....Vincent ran to Michael. That is all the doggie has left....Walt is kidnapped and his "foster parent" just died. I think it is good Michael has Vincent cause he is a part of Walt.
Aphasia_1 11-23-2005, 11:14 PM I cried too. I felt kinda silly, but it was so emotional..and i feel like i've gotten to know the characters and I was really hoping that Jin had forgiven Sun.. and they hugged and kissed... awww... happiness!
happy camper 11-23-2005, 11:17 PM The reunions of Rose and Bernard and Sun and Jin are the highlights of this show for me so far. Rose and Bernard's reunion was special, warm, and moving while Jin and Sun's reunion was powerful and passionate. Just loved it.
nonyabizwaz 11-23-2005, 11:17 PM and I was really hoping that Jin had forgiven Sun.. and they hugged and kissed... awww... happiness!
I liked the way when Sun saw Jin, she wasn't sure how he'd react...if he had forgiven her. But as soon as she saw his face and that he was running toward her, her expression changed to pure happiness!
heavenswhiterose 11-23-2005, 11:17 PM I have been waiting for Rose & Bernard to reunite since we saw that he was alive....it was everything I hoped it would be...I sobbed as well!
LockeHurleySawyer 11-23-2005, 11:21 PM I have been waiting for Rose & Bernard to reunite since we saw that he was alive....it was everything I hoped it would be...I sobbed as well!
Me too, I was waiting. And I have to be honest. I kept cursing at the TV everytime a commercial came on. I was so mad!! I kept saying to my hubby. This is 18 precious minutes they are wasting on telling me what time Sears is going to open the day after Thanksgiving! LOL!
edeewildwild 11-23-2005, 11:26 PM Sniff! Wonderful!
Aphasia_1 11-23-2005, 11:27 PM Don't care about Sears opening at 5am. Give me my lost!!!
LockeHurleySawyer 11-23-2005, 11:30 PM I know I agree...who cares about Sears...(Sponsor this!!!) :rotflmao: Taking away from valuable Lost time. The nerve of them. ;)
addicted2much 11-23-2005, 11:33 PM Mike and Vincent were just adorable, but my fave reunion was Kate and Sawyer.
I thought it sucked that Rose/Bernard, Sun/Jin, and Mike/Vincent only got a minute long scene.
Monkey 11-23-2005, 11:36 PM Kate cradled Sawyer's head like she was never going to let him go.
Rock Goddess 11-23-2005, 11:42 PM I loved the reunions! They made the episode for me. I've been waiting for the Rose and Bernard reunion since Walkabout, when Rose first told Jack that Bernard wasn't dead. And I adored how he told Ana that no matter how grateful he was to her for helping him, that he was going to go find his wife. :) Their reunion was absolutely heartwarming.
And Sun and Jin was beautiful too. I kept yelling, "turn around and look, Sun!!" It was wonderful to see them both so happy. These are the two couples I probably pull for the most, it's my inner-romantic talking.
Michael and Vincent was bittersweet. All of the reunions made me tear up, but I didn't cry until the shot of Sayid carrying Shannon. That was heartbreaking, and by contrast made the reunions have even more meaning.

ForeverLost19 11-23-2005, 11:45 PM Seems like this one was all about reunions. Don't forget Jack and AL.
That last scene was pretty powerful (and I don't even like her).
ChicaFrom3 11-23-2005, 11:48 PM Bawled like a baby at all three reunions (but above all Rose/Bernard ) but there's one reunion nobody's mentioned yet, and that's Michael/Sun. And may I just say that the Michael/Sun reunion warmed my UC shipper heart.
LockeHurleySawyer 11-23-2005, 11:49 PM Yeah I know, can't you feel the tips of the quadrangle forming...Ana/Jack/Kate/Sawyer
dasummahchicka 11-23-2005, 11:50 PM omg so true i thought it was soo sweet the way they ended the ep!! omg bernard and rose sooo meant for each other!!!!
jericho73 11-23-2005, 11:50 PM Jin and Sun reunion really showed how much these characters have evolved. Beginning of last season a Jin/Sun moment like that is unthinkable.
edeewildwild 11-23-2005, 11:51 PM Seems like this one was all about reunions. Don't forget Jack and AL.
That last scene was pretty powerful (and I don't even like her).
Just remember that Ana Lucia is being written as a very powerful character with a full portion of pathos poured into her deadened soul
It may be that such deep grief and despair can only be healed by someone just as filled with it (pathos) as she is.....
HeatherHobbit 11-23-2005, 11:55 PM I bawled for the last 10 minutes of the episode. Gah!
On2ndThought 11-23-2005, 11:56 PM The reunions of Rose and Bernard and Sun and Jin are the highlights of this show for me so far. Rose and Bernard's reunion was special, warm, and moving while Jin and Sun's reunion was powerful and passionate. Just loved it.
Same here! I've really been looking forward to those two couples reuniting for weeks now.... (And after all the heaviness with Ana-of-the-Jungle, it was an especially wonderful thing to watch.....) It was worth the wait.
And it was nice to see Vincent bounding towards Michael, too. Add Kate and Sawyer to the mix and it really was a night of reunions....
LockeHurleySawyer 11-23-2005, 11:59 PM I just wish the reunion for Bernard/Rose was longer. But I think that something like this needed no words.
reds824 11-24-2005, 12:04 AM I absolutely loooved all the reunion scenes...of course my favorite was kate and sawyer but seeing those smiles on sun and jins faces made me so happy, as did the michael-vincent and rose-bernard reunions...i was very proud of myself for not crying though, i thought i was going to
Guinevere 11-24-2005, 12:04 AM I thought that there should have been more time devoted to the reunions too. I had tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat by the time Jin and Sun embraced. I thought Jack and the Ana-Lucia reunion was interesting too but not in the same way.
agentalana 11-24-2005, 12:05 AM loved them all... Jin/Sun & Bernard/Rose (that really made me "tear")... AND SKATE-reunite, "you are home"... like she's home to him!!!
Aurora10 11-24-2005, 12:07 AM WOW. So emotional. I love this show so much. When the writers read that we cry, they know they're doing an excellent job. I loved all of the reunions and yes, I cried a lot. I loved the Jack and Ana Lucia reunion because of their facial expressions. Very intense. I want to give Jack a hug.
LockeHurleySawyer 11-24-2005, 12:09 AM I can't wait to see when Rose gives Bernard the Apollo Bar she saved for his sweet tooth. She knew he was alive, she had faith the whole time she grasped his wedding ring that was on her chain. What a beautiful relationship
edeewildwild 11-24-2005, 12:10 AM The passion in the married couples is heart-warming!

In which case, I can see her and Sayid forming a relationship.
Aurora10 11-24-2005, 12:13 AM I would die if that happened. I would absolutely hate it.
LockeHurleySawyer 11-24-2005, 12:13 AM In which case, I can see her and Sayid forming a relationship.
Hey ya never know. Just like Kate/Sawyer - the outcasts. Sayid/AL, the people who are emotionally dead now.
ChicaFrom3 11-24-2005, 12:16 AM In which case, I can see her and Sayid forming a relationship.
Not a Sayid/Shannon shipper and yet I still hate this idea. Ana-Lucia should not be rewarded for killing an innocent girl.
ForeverLost19 11-24-2005, 12:16 AM Hey ya never know. Just like Kate/Sawyer - the outcasts. Sayid/AL, the people who are emotionally dead now.
Frankly, I think it would make for a better story than the quadrangle the writers seem to be forecasting even in this week's podcast, but maybe they want us to be surprised?

I'm actually rooting for Kate/Sawyer. I like Sayid. He has alot of passion, and whoever ends up with him is lucky. (poor Shannon!)
ForeverLost19 11-24-2005, 12:24 AM I'm actually rooting for Kate/Sawyer. I like Sayid. He has alot of passion, and whoever ends up with him is lucky. (poor Shannon!)
ABSOLUTELY!!!!
I'm a total Skater, but I love Sayid too. The actor that plays him just does such a great job. The empathy of the character comes out in very simple facial expressions and mannerisms.
Actually, out of the current crop of females on the show (that are available), I don't think any of them is a great match for Sayid... who knows who might get added to the cast in the future though? Maybe Joanna will resurface? (no pun intended)
LockeHurleySawyer 11-24-2005, 12:26 AM I'm calling this one.....I think that Michael and Libby would be a good pair.
ChicaFrom3 11-24-2005, 12:27 AM I'm rooting for Hurley/Libby, myself.

My Reply:
Well, I didn't cry or anything, but I really enjoyed seeing the reunions. Especially Rose and Bernard.

Aurora10 11-24-2005, 12:34 AM Yeah, I agree. Whoever ends up with Sayid is very lucky. He's....wow. He's such a great person.
ForeverLost19 11-24-2005, 12:35 AM OT, I know, but hey, reunions and couples! So, here's what we have so far:
Kate and Sawyer
Sun and Jin
Rose and Bernard
AL and Sayid
Libby and Micheal (or Hurley)
Claire and Locke ? :)
Oh, dear... we're out of girls. I think someone will have to be gay afterall!
Not sure where this leaves Jack, Eko, and Micheal or Hurley.
LockeHurleySawyer 11-24-2005, 12:37 AM I like Locke and Claire.....that would be cool. Little May-December thing going on.

That might not be necessary. There is a rare form of marriage called 'polyandry' practiced in some cultures (certain people in Tibet and Nepal, the Nayar of India, etc)) that happens when a culture is female-short with an abundance of males. It seems to go with agricultural communites and a land shortage as well in some cases. Anthropology classes on marriage and family (I still have my colllege books some 25 years later) talk about it, a lot....the reaction of the women in class was intrigued, the men in the class gave each other odd looks...and when polygamy was discussed the reactions turned around the opposite way.....

Sort of like the Paint Your Wagon movie from the 70s. This was a western movie where this woman had 2 husbands.

Not sure that the 8pm (CST) ABC audience is ready for that one :)
Yes, I remember this too...

That's fitting edeewildwild, but do you suppose it will really ever come to that? Now that would generate a whole new set (25,000) threads for LOST:biggrin:
Personally I don't see any "couples" yet. It's way too soon. It's only been a few months at best. Although it's been over a year for us.
Anyway, I think the reunion was beautiful  and I can't wait until next week to really see them all getting together. They should have a party with all the goodies in the Hatch. Rose knew Bernard was alive.
ForeverLost19 11-24-2005, 01:23 AM They should have a party with all the goodies in the Hatch.
Not to be a party-pooper, but the goodies are gone. Hurley handed them out to everyone at the end of "EHH".
uhohlisa 11-24-2005, 02:05 AM so amazing
notlost, justexploring 11-24-2005, 02:22 AM Yippee! That was such a lovely romantic ending! Even my husband said, "Awww "
Peacock Spring 11-24-2005, 02:26 AM I have been waiting for Rose & Bernard to reunite since we saw that he was alive....it was everything I hoped it would be...I sobbed as well!
I have been waiting for that, too, but I just wish it hadn't been done in this way! It seemed to lessen it a bit for me that they had to kind of cram it in and the "end of the episode slo-mo" part. I know that's supposed to be dramatic, but I wanted their moment to be just them, and I wanted there to be sound!
Peacock Spring 11-24-2005, 02:37 AM Actually, out of the current crop of females on the show (that are available), I don't think any of them is a great match for Sayid... who knows who might get added to the cast in the future though? Maybe Joanna will resurface? (no pun intended)
I have hoped from Sayid's first backstory episode that Nadia isn't really dead, and that she somehow shows up on the island. It would totally ruin the credibility of the show, but I want those two back together! :inlove:
lilkitkat 11-24-2005, 02:44 AM I loved all the reunions too... when Rose and Bernard met, I said, "Give him the chocolate bar!" I wish they had showed that... maybe next week? And I loved to see how happy Jin was to see Sun. When they hugged, they looked like the couple that we saw in the flashbacks that was so in love and wanted to get married. It was kind of funny/sad that the only one who was really glad to see michael was vincent. Everybody else went to go meet the other tailies.
As far as couples go... what happened to Charlie and Claire? I like that mix... except that he still carries heroin in his bag and might remember where all the rest of it is. I'm glad that Locke knows... maybe he'll keep a closer eye on Charlie.
I'm for Hurley/Libby... they both seem pretty easy going.
The Sayid/Shannon thing didn't make a whole lot of sense to me at first anyways... I mean, when she first encountered him at the airport, she called security after he had asked her to watch his bag for a minute! (I think that was to prove a point to Boone that she could get whatever she wanted.)
I wonder what it would be like to have AL, Kate, Sawyer, and Jack in the same room... would sparks and/or claws fly?
Azure Waters 11-24-2005, 03:04 AM I enjoyed all the reunions too. Who has the kleenex?
Vashanti 11-24-2005, 03:12 AM I dunno... I could have sworn I saw an evil glint in Vincent's eye, as if he was already planning to lead Michael to the Others!!!11one
Jk ;) I smiled lots in the reunion scenes. Except for the Jack/Sawyer one; I kinda felt weird that Jack was sitting right there, having to watch that affection.
goddessblue 11-24-2005, 03:17 AM I started crying at the end of the epi and hubby was all, "It's only a TV show!" LOL I was all "You know how this show gets to me!"
Seeing Kate and Sawyer with Jack looking on was uncomfortable. I want to know who she is going to choose.
Rose and Bernard reuniting was so wonderful!! That was the one that set me off.
Sun and Jin, you could see her do a double take and it was so beautiful to see them reunite.
In which case, I can see her and Sayid forming a relationship.
(This was in reference to Ana and Sayid^)
The thought crossed my mind in the epi.. I wonder???? They are both tortured. Ashamed of rash desicions they've made. Stranger things have happened.

The reunions were truly the best part of the whole show! I cried so hard! I love Sun and Jin and seeing Bernard and Rose was like getting a present! And oh, I was happy and sad when Michael and Vincent got together. Poor Vincent ... no Walt, no Shannon. But now his Michael is back!
Seems like this one was all about reunions. Don't forget Jack and AL.
That last scene was pretty powerful (and I don't even like her).
I swear ... if they pair those two off ... I will be so mad! They have nothing in common! Baggage is not something base a relationship on. Get rid of it and they are as opposite as chocolate and vanilla. Not a match at all!
Just remember that Ana Lucia is being written as a very powerful character with a full portion of pathos poured into her deadened soul

Oh, bite your tongue! She killed Shannon. If they pair up you can be sure Shannon will come back (whether the writers write her back in or not!) just to take AL out and give Sayid a good swift kick you-know-where!
ABSOLUTELY!!!!

It will be so forced if the writers pair AL with anyone on this show. They have nothing in common with her.

shanzy288 11-24-2005, 04:38 AM Tears were running, nose was dripping. It was Vincent and Mike that got me straight to the heart.
Renault 11-24-2005, 04:54 AM I thought it was weird that Sun was just sitting there casually doing laundry, knowing full well that Jin was alive and nearby. They should have left the Michael/Sun meeting out of the episode, making the Sun/Jin reunion much more powerful.
piscescat 11-24-2005, 05:15 AM Yeah, it was a little odd that Sun was doing laundry after seeing Mike in the garden and his telling her Jin is ok. But maybe she was busying herself while waiting, not knowing how long before he'd show up. And her double take was so great- and then the hug that showed all is forgiven between them and they have a fresh start. My hubby was watching - only his 2nd ep and he was like "Are they married?" (Bernard & Rose) and "Are they married?" (Jin & Sun), trying to get everyone straight.
I also thought it sweet how Charlie got up and hugged Jin- I don't remember them having many scenes together.
I started crying when Vincent ran for Mike and didn't stop. I dripped tears all over my cat! And that last scene with Jack and Ana - which one of them is more ready for the funny farm at this point? Libby can start a group therapy session, eh?
Delta 11-24-2005, 05:24 AM Didn't Jin "forgive" Sun and explain why he acted the way he did before the raft went to sea? The Jin/Sun reunion was very nice, but I thought the forgiveness/explanation scene was more emotional.
clelandearly 11-24-2005, 05:30 AM I'm an old cynic, but I teared up when Rose and Bernard reunited. The Kate/Sawyer/Jack scene was wonderful. Kate likes both guys, but Jack sure looked devastated when Kate held Sawyer. Particularly after the flirty golf outing. Matthew Fox is a great actor.

Why not Ana-Lucia + Sawyer? They've both committed murder in pursuit of revenge, handle firearms well, and walk around with chips on their shoulders. They'd make a formidable, volatile, and dangerous duo. The only problem is Kate has her eyes set on Sawyer, so if AL wants a piece of the action, there might be some trouble...
lambchops972 11-24-2005, 08:29 AM Tears were running, nose was dripping. It was Vincent and Mike that got me straight to the heart.
Yes me too because I knew when it showed these two that the other reunions would probably follow and sure enough they did.
On2ndThought 11-24-2005, 11:50 AM I can't wait to see when Rose gives Bernard the Apollo Bar she saved for his sweet tooth. She knew he was alive, she had faith the whole time she grasped his wedding ring that was on her chain. What a beautiful relationship
I hope Rose has some Handi-Wipes on her when she gives Bernard the chocolate bar. Chocolate has a hard time surviving NJ summers----I can't imagine what tropical island heat would do to it!
Rose and Bernard do have a beautiful relationship! It's unusual for Hollywood to portray marriages in that kind of light so I hope the writers continue in that direction. Usually couples are either divorced, thinking about divorce, estranged, separated by death, etc., etc. Long live Rose and Bernard!
edeewildwild 11-24-2005, 12:08 PM I think that the Sun+Jin marriage without question will become incredibly strong and passionate and that because of their age it is possible (pure speculation) that little Aaron will get a playmate out of it. Rose+Bernard will be as passionate and happy.
Sawyer may not actually 'love' Kate but he loved someone (he whispered to Kate that he did).
Kate 'loves' both Sawyer and Jack. She will do whatever Jack asks her too, medically at least, he may (speculation) be teaching her emergency medicine. Don't forget that they cared for Sawyer by washing him, treating the wound etc.
It is possible that Kate may also love 'Locke' and 'Charlie.
Is it agape` or something further?
Jack loves Kate.
Charlie loves Claire. But how much does Claire love Charlie?
Locke may just be reallly happy and care about everyone.....
I suspect that the writers have a huge storyboard!
ChicaFrom3 11-24-2005, 01:47 PM I also thought it sweet how Charlie got up and hugged Jin- I don't remember them having many scenes together.
Not a whole lot of scenes, but Charlie and Jin have had their fair share of bonding--"Homecoming", "Do No Harm", "Exodus 1" all featured some sweet Charlie/Jin scenes.
Agreed 200%! Long live Rose and Bernard!
BuffyMars 11-24-2005, 01:49 PM The Michael/Vincent reunion had me bawling like a baby! The way Vincent looked at him, and ran to him...lordy. That was very emotional. It was like Vincent was expecting Walt to be there. :(

I thought it was more that they were both so happy to be back together than it was for forgiveness. Sun and Jin had made up before he left.
John_Locke 11-24-2005, 08:00 PM Some great reunion scenes in Collision.... my favourite was Bernard and Rose.
Every since that day at the beach with Jack i been wanting that for Rose...
she's a spiritual woman...she knew Bernard was ok...
I see an Apollo Chocolate bar in Bernards future.

Hey John! Great to see you ... it's been awhile since I ran into your posts.
You're so right. Rose and Bernard = perfect love!
Delta 11-24-2005, 10:11 PM I thought it was more that they were both so happy to be back together than it was for forgiveness. Sun and Jin had made up before he left.
I never believed Jin was ever upset at Sun at all. He was upset at himself, since he believed being on the island was punishment for his past actions and that Sun had to suffer as well. Hence, there was nothing to "forgive" Sun for. In fact, he was going on the raft to save her, not to get away from her. I thought their conversation before the raft set sail explained it all. So the reunion was nice because Sun thought Jin was dead, but he wasn't. But I thought the explanation scene was more poignant, especially when Jin told Sun to stay with Jack because he'd keep her safe and then Sun responded by asking Jin who would keep him safe...
But there a few posts here and there talking about how Sun was waiting to see if Jin had forgiven her or what not... Maybe they missed the episode where the raft set sail. ;)

They may have been on speaking terms because of the enormity of what was about to happen, but I think there was still a great deal of tension between them when Jin left. I don't think that the rift between them was "healed"; not even close. I think that was part of Sun's anxiety.
But when all the losties reunited, and Jin saw her, he ran toward her without a moment's hesitation. Any residual of what had gone before was completely wiped away. I said at that point, "He sure did learn a lot about what's important during the time he was gone." Maybe that wholehearted bond that they used to have, rather than the strained one that was present before Jin left, is what people mean when they talk about how glad Sun was to see the way Jin embraced her (literally and figuratively).
Gorilla 11-24-2005, 10:49 PM I kind of found it odd that even after Michael had shown up and told Sun that Jin was alive, and nearby, she just went about her normal daily routine. I mean, she seemed pretty casual on the beach, doing laundry, for someone who had found out not too long before then that her presumed-dead husband was alive. Even when people started to run up the beach to greet Jin and the other two, she seemed to take forever to even glance up.
I understand it was written that way and they likely thought it would add to the drama to have her be the last to notice Jin arriving. But, to me, it just seemed like she would have been more on the lookout for her returning husband, or even trying to go off and find him, than ringing the water out of a shirt.. even if she was afraid he hadn't "forgiven her", as some have mentioned.
Don't get me wrong, I like both characters and enjoyed their reunion, as I did that of Bernard/Rose and even Michael/Vincent. Just struck me as a little odd that she seemed almost uninterested in the actual return of Jin until she actually saw him.
Anywho.. just my opinion. As I always, I reserve the right to be completely wrong, and often am..
edeewildwild 11-24-2005, 11:14 PM I think Sun couldn't quite believe that Jin was alright...and tried to steady herself by distracting herself from her emotions.
Laundry can be very zen.
barbarella2 11-24-2005, 11:39 PM Why not Ana-Lucia + Sawyer? They've both committed murder in pursuit of revenge, handle firearms well, and walk around with chips on their shoulders. They'd make a formidable, volatile, and dangerous duo. The only problem is Kate has her eyes set on Sawyer, so if AL wants a piece of the action, there might be some trouble...
Hmmmm.... that's a possibility. And it sets up nicely a cat fight between Kate and AL. I think Kate will be threatened by AL's "relationship" with Jack, and as a result will turn to even more to Sawyer. Jack won't be able to handle the fact that AL killed Shannon and he'll rebuff AL. Sawyer and AL will connect based on being the outcasts of their respective tribes and everything else they have in common. Kate will become even more threatened by AL and..... voila! Cat Fight!! Not sure where the previewed and much anticipated "smootch" between Jack and Kate fits in here.
Anyway, back to the subject of the thread: Bernard and Rose made me sob. For a couple of actors who likely haven't worked together before, that was some realistic, passionate, "we've been married for 20 years and you are my soul mate" kiss they had! Heartwarming....
ekdikeo 11-25-2005, 07:54 AM OT, I know, but hey, reunions and couples! So, here's what we have so far:
[list deleted for brevity]
Oh, dear... we're out of girls. I think someone will have to be gay afterall!
Not sure where this leaves Jack, Eko, and Micheal or Hurley.
One thing I noticed is that amongst all the people that haven't been introduced, there are a lot of females. And they are all pretty attractive. You see a lot of the "red-shirts" on the beach when Jin comes back. Also another guy that appears Asian. *here's to introducing us to the remaining 30 or so people we haven't met yet* lol
And her double take was so great-
...
The double take was good, but one of the best parts of the episode for comic amusement (aside from Jack brandishing a golf club to Eko, as if Eko wouldn't just take it and wrap it around his neck like something from a cartoon) was when she looks up and sees Michael in the garden. Her eyes are normally as big as saucers, and I think they expanded to 8X saucers... lol
The Michael/Vincent reunion had me bawling like a baby! The way Vincent looked at him, and ran to him...lordy. That was very emotional. It was like Vincent was expecting Walt to be there. :(
I so didn't expect to see a Michael/Vincent, really. I kinda figured Michael would stay in the hatch and go "WTF?!" but apparently that's reserved for next week, from the previews of him noticing the blast doors.. and what the hell does an artist/construction worker know about blast doors? that's sort of a military thing.. did he do military construction?...
Besides, doesn't Vincent know where Walt is? He DID just see Walt in the jungle... :D
