I heard that, but since I don't know anything about Echo Park, I thought maybe it was just slipped in by the writers to make people post about whether anyone else heard it or not.

I think it's a real place in LA. It's mentioned in LA Confidential, anyway. As a crime scene in that stroy, I believe.

I'd heard of it before, just didn't know whether it had enough to do with the concept of the show that it would mean something or not. It just made me wonder if the writers were playing with us, lol.

I keep thinking it was a place for drug trafficking in the 70's or something.

Echo Park was the original center of the film industry in Los Angeles, before the studios moved toHollywood just before World War I.

The 1960's television series Gilligan's Island was shot in the area

The area is popular with modern filmmakers for the pre-World War II look of some districts.

Before World War II Echo Park was a middle class neighborhood, nicknamed "Red Hill" for a concentration of political radicals living there.

The commercial district along Sunset Boulevard suffered greatly in the1950's from the condemnation of the residences in nearby Chavez Ravine to build Dodger Stadium.

The area in the immediate vicinity of the park itself became seriously beset by problems with drugs and gangs in the 1970's and 1980's.

Postwar flight to the suburbs resulted in Echo Park becoming overwhelmingly Latino.

Bordering the park are the cathedral of the Episcopalian diocese of Los Angeles and the famous Angelus Temple, a large Foursquare Gospel church built by Canadian-born Pentacostal evangelist Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923.

Interesting life story. Kidnapping, white slavery, obstruction of justice, nervous breakdown, suicide etc.

Not unless he happens to be a guitarist and has an Echo Park (http://line6.com/tonecore/echoPark.html) on his pedalboard...

Though it probably has nothing to do with anything, Echo Park is also the name of a pretty good rock band.

On the website for Echo Park, Ca, there is a post I thought was interesting! Total coincidence, I am sure. (http://www.echopark.net/)

10.06.05: Yesterday from my office downtown I witnessed a seemingly instantaneous thick black column of smoke rise from the hills of Echo Park. That smoke was the now destroyed home of Neighborhood Council Rep Larry Pickens. The family and dogs are okay, the house and Larry's car are a total loss. No word yet on what happen, what we do know is they will need there communities help to get through this. Check back later, when we have more information we?ll let you to see how you can help. [Insurance has covered the family's needs].
