This may seem like a weird question, but did Ana actually kill that guy who shot her? I thought he was arrested and she said it wasn't the right guy. When Sayid asked what she did to the guy who shot her, I thought she was just projecting like, "this is what I wish I did." But how could she if she was a cop. She was willing to risk everything to kill this guy in public, even though they had custody of him in jail. I don't get it. Am I missing something here?

I think he would have been if he had not been knocked out right after Shannon died. It was only after he had the chance to cool down and converse with AL for a while that he came around and realized the futility of killing her.
