View Full Version : What happened to The Others?
nonyabizwaz 11-24-2005, 06:51 PM This may be a stupid question (wouldn't be my first) and it may belong in another forum, but it occured to me...
Why aren't the midsection losties worried about The Others coming? Are they thinking they had a mass hallucination that a French chick named Danielle told them that they were coming and they needed to run, hide or die?
Laurieg 11-24-2005, 06:55 PM Besides Ethan, I'm not sure they even beleive there are any others. It turned out Danielle took the baby and lit the fire. So they have had no signs of them.
nonyabizwaz 11-24-2005, 07:00 PM Oh yea. They figured it was all a lie so Danielle could get the baby. BUT...WE know when they said they wanted "the boy" they really meant Walt. So they really WERE coming! But they (the Others) must've knew Walt was going on the raft. So they really WEREN'T coming to the camp, but they WERE coming to the raft. (are you getting dizzy too?!)
So what was the deal with the fire? Did the Others really light it? Not that it really matters. Sigh.
cowboy_dan 11-24-2005, 07:13 PM They Have Guns, They Don't Care
gaffa 11-24-2005, 07:35 PM There were no tracks in the sand...they lit it
John_Locke 11-24-2005, 07:35 PM They now have multiplied their guns. They had 5 pistols from the Marshals case, then the Drug-runners Glock 9 mm that Locke found.
They also have at least one AK-47, a shotgun, a Dragunov Sniper rifle, and a scoped hunting rifle, then a G3 sniper rifle (Locke was in the hatch armory with it on his knees) .
In addition i also think Desmond left his nickle-plated Tokarevs as they disarmed him.
There might be many other weapons in hatch. We just haven't seen em all.
The fact they are now 4 or 5 more ppl to the other 41 ppl of lostaways...I think they have the Others outnumbered and outgunned....lol
42 Survivors including Shannon before raft leaves. Walt.. not sure what state he is in
Shannon gets killed by Ana-Lucia. -1
5 survivors from tailsection reaches the fuselage survivors.
(Ana-Lucia, Eko, Libby and Bernard and Cindy)
Cindy dissappears right before the killing of Shannon, Taken by the Others? - 1
so they are 45 at present time.
The Others has lost 5 ppl... Ethan, Goodwin, the 2 guys attacking Eko, and the woman Ana clubbed to death with a rock.
The Sea-Bee's are obviously not part of "The Wild Others" They belong to a group of more resourceful Others, with their wits present, but still a danger to our guys...They shot Sawyer and blew up Raft as they kidnapped Walt.
They seem to be in control of alot of stuff, personally i think they are the remains of a failed Dharma initiative.
Old bearded guy (M.C. Gainey) may well be Dharma Scientist Gerald DeGroot.
Looking at Dates at Hanso Foundation Site, Alvar Hanso is still alive and active in projects all over the world. So there are alot going on...
Will we see Cindy and Walt again... ? I hope so.
Monsoon_Season 11-24-2005, 07:41 PM Danielle said the others were supposed to show up that night, so when nothing happened, it was easy for everyone to assume she was crazy. Especially considering that Charlie was running around and insisting she was messed up in the head.
But, once they hear from Libby and Bernard and Michael they'll learn how active the others really have been, and that Danielle may not have been crazy. Maybe then they'll use all those guns to form an attack squad in an attempt to get Walt and the two tailie children back (I hope so anyway)
Tiny Time Machine 11-24-2005, 07:49 PM I think a more pressing question is, why weren't the tailies + Michael & Jin worried about the others who JUST TOOK CINDY about 20 metres from where they tied up Sayid and hung about all day. what the hell was that?! seriously...
edeewildwild 11-25-2005, 12:01 AM Maybe the Security System blocked the Others from coming.
Maybe where the Middle Section crashed is protected by the Security System that makes odd weird and disturbing sounds at erratic intervals.
Speaking of which, does anyone remember that the front section of the Plane had a lot of EMPTY seats???? What could that mean??? I am thinking that maybe, just maybe, that there were more survivors intially and that the Others took them right away/first.
zstrata 11-25-2005, 12:07 AM Lots of questions here. First, i think the tailies forgot about the whole Cindy thing with that whole string of events. i admit that it doesnt seem well thought out by the writers. You would think someone would have mentioned it.
Second, there are two groups of others but i think the seabees/ethan/goodwin control the savage others through the experiment.
third, the others didnt light the fire. Danielle lit the fire to try to get them to come get the baby in exchange for Alex.
although it is obvious to us that the others are a threat, it isnt to the lostaways for now but it will be soon.
OldWiz 11-25-2005, 12:23 AM I believe there are at least 4 'groups' or levels or castes of the 'Others'.
1. The troops are the shabby, scruffy types (perhaps the 'newly taken' members not yet trained/indoctrinated, etc.).
2. The Infiltrators like Ethan, Goodwin, and whoever else. They seem to be dressed well, presentable, articulate, and able to 'blend-in' with a group.
3. The Boat-People, perhaps just an off-shoot of the Infiltrators but I have a feeling they are connected (somehow) to the Black Rock.
4. The 'Observers' - the ones that whisper and probably do the controlling.
There is obvious signs of an organized plan here. The Infiltrators are able to get into the group quickly and evaluate who to take or not based upon some criterion that is supplied to them. They are able to communicate with the Troops somehow. I think they are restricted to a certain area of the island by the Security System which is why the main section group hasn't had the difficulty that the Tailee's had.
