One line that really stood out to me in this episode was when Ecko said to Jack "What do you want?", and Jack responded very strongly something along the lines of "I want my people to-"...

It just struck me how Jack has taken/accepted owership of this group. Protective enough to break out the guns...

Any thoughts?

I think this episode really illustrated how close the fuselagers have become. Kate told Sawyer he was "home" and I think Jack's comment falls along the same line. They're a (dysfunctional) family, and I think they all feel protective of each other. Jack especially, being the leader/doctor, feels a responsibility to make sure everyone in the group is safe.

(I'll have to re-watch the scene, though, because I think he might have said "our people", which is the same idea anyways.)

Oh - you might be right about the "our people" - please post either way when you find out. (Or maybe someone has access to the script.) Not a big difference, but I don't want to pass on mis-information. :)

The "home" comment was really cool too.

Yep, he said "our people."

I'm not sure if his strong reaction was due to his acceptance of the group's leadership or if it was due to his doctor's mentality kicking in--probably both. After all, Sawyer was brought back in very bad shape and Shannon was killed, so he was worried that the others might be in great danger.
