Does anyone else find it strange that two of the most unappreciated and least attention paid to characters from the beginning of the show seem to be two of the most intriguing ones so far? I mean look at all the speculation on these characters' backgrounds!! The question is, what are Boone and Shannon really? Who are they as people? For anyone who wants to know, I am an avid Shannon fan.

Also, about that halliburton case. I think it is a little strange that Hurley and Michael both seem to know what it is. I do think it was really funny when Micheal says, "He's trying to open a Halliburton." and Hurley says, "A Halliburton? Good Luck!" and laughs loudly as he walks off. Hurley kicks tail ;) 8)

I have found these two to be the most intriguing characters since the beginning. I have always felt that Shannon and Sawyer were so interesting because they seem to have so far to grow. Sawyer is already starting to show a heart (a soft spot for "Kate") and I think that Shannon will develop from a self-centered, callow girl into a confident, brave and responsible woman. Unfortunately, to do so I think she has to lose the one person that supports her and keeps her down. From the beginning I felt that Boone would be the first to go because this would allow Shannon to blossom as a character. I have also noticed a lot of foreshadowing for his death (his near drowning, his "red-shirt" line among others) I sometimes think that the foreshadowing is TOO thick, and that it may be a mis-direction...

MaggieRyan--good point. It may be that at this point in the season, Shannon and Boone are two of the characters that have grown the least, making them more interesting. Plus, we havn't seen their backstory yet, so there is still a lot of mystery there.

During the first few episodes, I was not at all interested in Shannon and Boone, and now I can't wait to see their backstory--that's definately an indication of good writing. Regardless of whether they kill off Boone (I personally wouldn't shed any tears if they did), Shannon will probably have to break away from him in some way to find her own strength. I wonder if their episode will be from her perspective or his?

I'd like to know their backstory. Especially Boone. He keeps trying to help and fails miserably at it. I'd like to know why.

boone scares me.

i think they're trying to portray him as 'useless' ..... well he seems terrible at everything he attempts.. but is shown to atleast try with everything. But i am skeptical about him/ he has a personal vendetta. what is it? i cant wait to find out more about them. I think i will like shannon more as we learn more about her. i'm definitely warming to her character
