There has been a lot of talk about people theorizing that Eko and Locke are opposites (light vs. dark, etc.) but what about them being equals. They seemed to have some sort of understanding when they met in the hatch. I also noticed that the way Ana would respond to Eko seemed similar to the way Jack would respond to Locke, and vice versa. So what if Locke and Eko are more equals, and Jack and Ana are the opposing equals. This doesn't necessarily mean one pair is good or bad, but the two pairs are just opposite points on the spectrum, and see things differently from the other pair, but similarly between each other.

Locke and Eko do seem like the mysterious, seemingly gentle yet kickass smarties of the island. I agree.

I think they're equal/opposites- that Jack & Ana are the light/dark and Locke & Eko are the dark/light. One light and one dark leader for each camp.

Good comparison, BurningStar. The way I see it, both Locke and Eko seem to be plugged in to something spiritual, while Jack and Ana are real-word pragmatists. But I think Eko and Locke have very different 'faiths' and Jack and Ana have very different approaches to real life - it should be interesting to watch the group dynamics.
