Don't shoot me, I heard this on a Podcast, LOL. Someone mentioned how both of them were 'almost doctors'. Libby dropped out of med school, and apparently so did Desmond. Does anyone else find this to be interesting?

I don't remember Desmond saying that. But if so, cool! I would love for there to be that connection. And then they can bring Desmond back.

Buffy, my sister and I have talked about this before too. I kind of like the idea that maybe they were even in school together and each helped the other come to the conclusion of leaving, but I think that is a bit of a stretch, I wonder if there are any other near physicians, or, nurses, on the island.

I'm curious about that, too. I'd love to find out that other Lostaways were also "almost doctors".

It's also possible that Libby and Jack were in med school together.

And I've wondered a lot about Sun...I know she majored in art history, but she has an above average knowledge about medicine and medical procedure, so I wonder if she didn't also attend med school for a while.

yup, i also think that Jack and Libby may have gone to school together... or maybe Libby and Desmond.
And about Sun... i dont think she went to Med school, but maybe nursing.

Maybe it is more of a Libby/Jack connection rather than a Libby/Desmond connecion. But I think it's interesting that they both almost became doctors.

Sun's knowledge is not medical it's natural..plants and roots...don't teach that in med school.

I don't see how you can say it is clearly not libby from a fuzzy dark picture...I saw the press photo of the Libby charector...make-up..hair done...and it looked nothing like the Libby running around bare faced and dirty..pictures can play a tick on us..

odds are it isn't but wouldn't it be amazing if she turned out to have a connection to Jack or Dessie?

Sun may just have knowledge of eastern herbal remedies, they don't require formal training, much like hot toddies and other "wive's tales" remedies people have used for years.

Actually, we batted this idea around before. It was my thought that the almost-doctor issue is a clue. Both Desmond and Libby were in medical school (together or not isn't important in Honbun-land!). They are each either recruited by Dharma/Hanso or dragged into an experiment by Dharma/Hanso. Anyway, they each leave school because of THE PROJECT (whatever Alvar has cooking up in his brain). They may have received specialized training by Dharma/Hanso that you just can't get from your run-of the mill medical school. They are each now part of THE PROJECT; whether knowingly or unknowingly has yet to be revealed.

Depends on the Medical School. In my wife's school, you could take electives on holistic, traditional and non-traditional medicine. Also, who knows what the medical schools are like in Asia or other parts of the world.

I personally don't think Sun went to medical school, but it's possible to learn those skills there...

Out of curiosity, I checked, and you can attend medical schools in Korea and take classes in Asian herbal remedies. Here is one such school. (http://www.dhu.ac.kr/new_home/eng/colleges01.html). So, it is possible that Sun is another medical school drop-out.

Gee, we've had some winners so far huh? Med school drop outs, Locke working at a Wal-Mart or something, Hurley, before being a bizillionaire, a fast food worker, Charlie a washed up rock star, Ana Lucia, a crazy murderous cop, a fugitive, a con man, the list goes on....
