The lyrics "After Midnight" came to mind when I heard the song in the Hatch. Is that called The end of the world?

The End of the World, in the diner where Kate's Mom works, is Skeeter Davis, not Patsy Cline.

Patsy Cline was..ahem..'white trash' that made good. She and Sawyer would have been 'kindred spirits' I live close to her hometown and everything there is Patsy Cline this or Patsy Cline worked here or sang here or stood on this street corner or whatever.

My theory on the Patsy Cline is that her mother probably listened to that alot because mostly all of her music was about heartache of some sort. And maybe that is what she was raised listening too.

Probably because she was killed in a plane crash. Which reminds me of a drag show I once saw where the performer came out dressed as Patsy Cline with a propeller blade sticking out of her stomach. She sang, "I Fall To Pieces". It was in bad, bad taste, but hilarious in a dark way.

Is it not crazy that the lyrics are "i go out walking after midnight...out in the moonlight searching for you" and it is known that every girl wants a man like their father.....i know that could sound sick in a way...but i know that i married a man just like my father......

To quote Xander from Buffy the Vampire Slayer....

"Country music... the music of pain."

it's a song about a gal pining over the dude who left her...

who might that be for Kate? She didn't love Wayne, so he's out.

her "daddy" maybe? Jack? Tom? the Marshall? Sawyer?

or maybe she just likes to hear one of the best voices to ever grace the
human race.

I didn't. My husband is completely different from my dad. My dad is a shy introvert and I didn't want to marry anyone like that. My husband is an extrovert and definitely NOT shy.

Don't get me wrong...my dad is a great guy and all but my mom had lots of difficulties with his personality. I just didn't want to go through that myself.

The name of the song was Crazy. 'Nuff said.

Why Patsy Cline? I am like Kate in that I ride motorcycles and dressed with the jeans and t-shirt. I was a tomboy when I was young. Also a rocker. ( I am NOT white trash nor a fugitive.) Patsy Cline is a BIG inspiration to that crowd. May or may not have something with her Mom and Dad. That song was way before my time and I love it. Also, Patsy's songs have been rerecorded many times by many artist, so with Walking After Midnight, you may hear several different artists, both Rock and Country, having recorded that song.

By the way, I love it when Kate starts talking to Charlie about the Horse. He looked like he was trying to decide if she meant the street name for heroin or an actual pony. LOVE IT.

Patsy Cline is also a tied to Sawyer's southern roots. Her music is often used to evoke that kind of easy southern sexuality and hospitality.

I live near Winchester and work in downtown Winchester. It is pretty Patsy crazy (no pun intended) around here.

:24: Thanks elfdream, you're a good sport. :)

Now, back on topic for a second...Patsy Cline died in a plane crash as was stated earlier, but she was also a victim of domestic violence. I wonder what other parallels we might find between the music and Kate's backstory.
