Since Eko was reciting Psalm 23 in the next episode, is there a scripture for each number? Is that what the numbers are for? Thoughts?

I don't think that's what the numbers are for. I just think the readings from the Bible is another thing that has the mysterious numbers associated with. Just like the 100 other things...

The numbers can mean a thousand different things for us, since we see them everywhere. But, story wise I think the numbers can only boil down to one thing. Whatever they mean is up to Dharma. They are the ones that started them. They can be traced back to them. They are the ones that years ago had them need to be put into a computer that is in a hatch that is inscribed with them. Then the crazy people heard them and they got back to Hurley and everywhere else they may be. All the other things like the soccer team and Hurley's spedometer are just Easter eggs for us. The numbers can only be something that Dharma found them useful to be.

IMO, Eko was reciting what he partly carved on his staff...
