Okay...best line of the show tonight was from Ana-Lucia.

"Are you going to try and convince me that everybody doesn't hate me?"

Either that was TPTB having a BALL with us or totally unintentional.

Thoughts??

I don't see how that would be having a ball with anyone. Look, she killed a woman that those people had lived with for a month and a half. How could she think that anyone would accept her? The poor woman must feel she is doomed to be an outcast for the rest of her life!

Oh, BaileysDad, I totally agree with the TPTB giving the FUSE posters a giant shoutout.

I think it was interesting how that one scene showed that Ana Lucia is sooooo different around Jack then she is around everyone else...

Was anyone else TOTALLY ticked and wondering "What the fudge?" That it took them the entire episode to make Jack and Ana have their first on screen conversation....and the convo they had was utterly uselessly about nothing and only lasted like 8 seconds? WHAT. THE. HECK. That was about as horrible and idiotic a time jump as I think the show has had yet.....all that lead up and last week's ending all for that? So....what, are we to assume that Jack and Ana from the jungle just walked back in silence and went their seperate ways. Jack went and changed his clothes as did everyone else....as Ana went and did something with a stick that I still don't know what the hell she was doing except that Michelle obviously busted the hell out of her hand (:D).

My favorite line tonight came from Michael, something like "oh, the film clearly explains everything? 'cause all I heard was something about electro-magnets and uh...an incident.""

i had to laugh when eko and locke had their "book" story. i thought it was hilarious when locke said "you really meant the begining." or something like that. adding to the hilarity was locke hinting with his head to eko to get to the book that was under the rag..

Do you remember the scene when her and Ecko were talking and she was banging that stick into the ground, then you could see her using her hands and she was punching the dirt with her hand, pretty hard if you ask me, like she was angry or upset. (lm guessing upset) thats probaby how she messed up her hand.

Me Me Me Me Me!
I was ticked too. I mean, the last episode ends with them staring at each other - him in surprise, her with a hurt/wounded look on her face - and then we don't get to see how that played out??? I'm totally ticked! Robbed! Cheated! And all those other words that mean they dropped the ball and I'm pissed about it.........

Other than that, though, I have to admit the epi was cool and very interesting.

I thought that the Hurley/Jack scene was a "shout out" of sorts. Hurley: So, Rose's husband is white. Didnt see that coming"

There was so much talk about it before it made me think of the threads dedicated to figuring out who Bernard was (Sam L Jackson...haha!)

Well, for one thing, this episode didn't focus on either character greatly. From the context, it seems like the walk back would have been awkward and mostly silent.

Jack coming to find her on the beach, bringing her 1/2 of her favorite drink, referring to their first meeting, was a peace offering... he was trying to reach her, as well as probably keep tabs on her. It was quite similar to the sitting-on-the-beach-looking-at-the-ocean scenes with Jack/Rose and Jack/Locke in season one.

It may have been short, but it did have a purpose.

I was going to say almost the exact same thing. Thought that might too be a tip to the fans.

Why would Ana's line be a shout out to the fans? Is there a link to a post where someone said that?

I think those posters think it's a shout out to fans because the common thread among a lot of message board posters is the fact that they hate Ana-Lucia. There have been threads too numerous to count listing complaints about her character and many many many pleadings to the writers to "off" her character because she is so hated.

Most of those that can't stand her admit that they hated her before they even knew her story. They just couldn't stand Michelle Rodriguez from seeing her in previous acting roles. MR is well aware of how hated she is and was pretty ticked at the writers for making her "the bad guy" however her character is supposed to soften up in later episodes.

I guess that's the gist of it! ;)

Oooh, I see! I'd like to believe it is a shout out, but how far in advance do they tape episodes? Would there have been time to write it in after the hubbub but before the ep was made? Hmmm.

Ana is interesting. I hope she sticks around.

I had 2 favorite lines tonight - & Sawyer got 'em both!

"Who the hell is Wayne?"

"Are we saved?"

(and as for the last "line"........"Dad?".........I dont think ANYONE saw that coming!)

Great episode.

I think they added that line in for AL. There does not seem to be a need for much conversation between Jack and Ana. They have a powerful attraction, like the Swan station!

Too much to say. I hope we get a few more wham bam episodes like this with lots of goodies for the rest of the season.

I always thought Kate killed daddy. Maybe there is a clue in all the best cowboys epi I missed.

This article talks in depth about the Ana-Lucia hate, including this:

"A few episodes into the second season, the Ana Lucia hate postings littering the Internet are numerous. Some of the interesting ones are available at www.losttv-forum.com and www.thefuselage.com, home of The Official Ana Lucia Hate Club, and of course, www.televisionwithoutpity.com. Such threads are not particularly unique; hundreds of sites run on malevolent feelings towards TV characters."

Oh and I agree with you that Ana-Lucia is an interesting character. I think she'll be around for a long time!

I agree. Plus, she was quite different with him, she was smiling and kind of joking around. Not at all b i t c h y like she usually is. And he showed her that he doesn't "hate" her like she probably assumed he would. I thought it was a nice scene.

Yeah...it didn't tick me off - but it was odd. I mentioned it to my wife....but really, I think that with all the crap that has happened to these people, NOTHING would surprise me if I was one of them. So would Jack be surprised to see Ana? Maybe initially, but then it would wear off.

Two perfect examples last night : Kate (sort of) telling Sayid that she saw Wayne in Sawyers face and Sayid telling her about Walt. They both took it with no shock.

And then the horse - Charlie says we've seen Polar Bears and Monsters, why not a horse?? I mean, would seeing ANY animal on that island surprise anyone?

So they found each other - big deal. I'm waiting for Elvis and JFK to show up. :)

Was anyone else TOTALLY ticked and wondering "What the fudge?" That it took them the entire episode to make Jack and Ana have their first on screen conversation....
