Kate was supposed to be 24 in this episode; she said it to her mother.

If the Marshal is right, when he apprehends Kate - in Season 1 - he says (at the airport) that he had been after her for 3 years. So, that would place events in tonights episode 3 Years Before Plane Crash. Kate says she is 24 in this episode.

It could be more than 3 years though, since we don't know how long before her mom ratted on her. Maybe it took a couple of years for the guilt to catch up to her.

I doubt it because the marshal caught Kate buying a one-way ticket out of town (to Tallahassee). Kate wouldn't have waited around before heading out of town, she would have gotten out ASAP.

She was wearing the exact same clothing in each scene. when she visits her mother on her way out of town. and when she is caught in the station. looks to me it was immediately after she said something to her mother. then again she's wearing the same clothes when she visits her father......er...step-father....whatever. Dude in the Army.

Well, she was dying from a terminal illness. If it was cancer, let's say pancreatic cancer, it would absolutely deteriorate her body.

Kate said it was cancer in her season one flashback after she reads the letter while she is sitting in the car.

She also calls her mother by her name in that episode, so are we now sure that there is only one mother, given Kate's army dad's account? There can't still be a foster mother mixed up in it too, can there?

Maybe Kate just used her mother's name to detatch herself from her, since her mother betrayed her by informing on her. I guess there are many, many flashbacks left, to flesh out the next 3 seasons anyway!

Yes, it was the same actor. One thing we had been wondering last season was why Kate's mother was so afraid of her, when they met in the hospital. Now that we know that Kate's mother turned her in, that would be the reason why she feared Kate would seek retribution for her betrayal.

The woman in season one was most likely her, perhaps uncredited, but somehow the resemblance and the fact Cancer alters the looks of a person, and makeup applied, makes it on my part beliveable.
