Whose face does Kate see right before she kisses Jack???

She was in the jungle, halluciating things prolly because of no sleep or something and when Jack hugs her she looks up at him and her eyes widen like she recognizes him and is happy to see him. It totally looks like she is seeing somebody else - not Jack's face.

Who do you think she saw????

hmm...bit of a stretch, but maybe that guy that was killed in the car, that doctor she loved.

It reminded me of in Back to the Future when Marty kisses Lorraine (his mom in 1955) and she said she had this weird feeling, like she's kissing her brother.

I'm not implying their brother and sister, but kissing Jack, to Kate, reminded her of something strange and apparently unexpected.

That was my guess, too, but I wondered if she mentioned another dude somewhere along the way. Her ex-husband maybe??? Maybe they didn't divorce, maybe he passed away or something.

Yeah she acted relly weird afterward like hey, that wasn't who I thought I was kissing.

I think when she kissed Jack-She thought of her dad, Wayne. Not that she was kissing him, but that when she feels something for anyone, she's reminded of Wayne.
Because she believes she is, or will be just like him. She's afraid if she has a relationship with someone, she will be the "Wayne" in the relationship. Make sense? probably not. haha.

I don't know - I don't think she would have smiled that way and eyes lit up if she was seeing Jack or Waynes face. So who did she see? They didn't explain any of that like they did some of the other crazy stuff relating to her in the episode.

Or maybe she was just tired?

It would make sense, though. Jack = Tom, both doctors and upstanding guys. Sawyer = Wayne, both pretty scruffy looking. I don't think she saw anyone, though. I think she was just looking for comfort, and regretted it two seconds later.

I know what you mean about her eyes. THey did look like they saw something that wasn't Jack's face. Someone she was surprised and very happy to see. Maybe Tom, like she was happy he was alive.....

I think it was just like with Tom whom she had deep feelings for. She let her guard down & gave in knowing she probably shouldn't have. She felt embarrassed & probably thought she ruined things between them. Tom made her feel rejected & Jack didn't so it scared her even more.

So the look was one of honest admiration, appreciation, & debatably love imo.

Kristin either sees the scene being shot or has a mole reporting to her from the set. Most of these people (makeup artists, camera operators, etc) don't know the script or see all of the flashbacks. They just report what they are seeing right there in front of them and for those people - it looked like Jack and Kate got snuggly in the jungle. Kristin's not lying or anything, she just doesn't always get the whole story.

Besides, what Kristin reported IS true: the kiss itself was not a copout, FB or dream - - - but IMHO Kate was definitely not seeing Jack's face when she kissed him.

Kristin aside it just doesn't make much sense to me...They wouldn't assume the audience would understand she was seeing someone else w/o giving any indication of it. A face, a flashback, something to connect Jack to the association like they did Sawyer w/Wayne. And if she honestly didn't think it was Jack & feel comforted by him, why go in for it in the firstplace. I don't see who there was that she would even want to kiss in her FB's, & unless they showed Sawyer we wouldn't make that leap in logic.... There's more to indicate from her past that she gave into her feelings w/him like she did Tom imo, the parallels between the moments are evident.

I don't think she saw anyone else, I think the intensity of her emotions got the better of her, and she did what she's been thinking about doing since day one.

I think she sees Jack as an innocent compared to her, and felt like he could give her some kind of absolution. She alluded to this when she said 'I'm sorry I'm not good like you' (or something similar).

After she kissed Jack, I think she realised that she wanted Sawyer, which was why she went back to Sawyer/Wayne to air her frustration in being attracted to a guy she feels she can't be with (Sawyer) because of her past associations.

And I think, given the circumstances, being stuck on the island and now having no-one to run from but herself, it's okay to go a little crazy. Especially as she hasn't really confided in anyone properly. Even Hurley has started to talk openly about his time in the mental institution to Jack. She's torturing herself.

I have NO idea who Kristin is, but my assumption was that Kate was kissing Jack to try and convince herself that she was NOT feeling what she was feeling for Sawyer (because that was too conflictual for her, apparently), and that she ought to direct her emotions towards Jack instead. Which was a pretty crummy thing to do to Jack.
