The Island

After reading other threads about the amount of guns in the hatch, maybe when the incident occured on the island the US government called an end to the occupation of the island by hanso and dharma, but dharma and hanso said no to the US government causing them to invade the island and stop the experiments happening there, each station had more than two occupants and they had to keep the experiments running no matter what happened (including station 3 because of the numbers and the incident) but the us army took some stations (the arrow) and stopped the experiments, somewhere along the line the us army troops an dharma employees contracted an illness causing them to act unnaturally, some of the better off employees and a handfull of soldiers killed the ill and found a safe base/haven, taking newcomers on the island to keep them safe from the illness

many years later the remaining 2 in the hatch realise they have lost but under extreme instructions they were not to contact the outside world to find out what has happened, later one of them died leaving kelvin alone and growing older, one day when he had pressed the button he left the hatch with enough time to scout and get back, when he found desmond on the beach he ushered him to the hatch believing him to be a dharma employee who had come to replace his partner, desmond shocked from the crash and slightly disorentated went along with it and did not say anything just agreed, after watching the film he realised something was wrong here but was forced by kelvin to go along with it, when kelvin died desmond was too engrossed in it he decided to carry on pressing the button until the appearance of the crash survivors.

what do you all think?

I'll go along with that. Sure, why not?

i like it... my first thought about the US governments involvement is that if they know this Island exists and there is "monkey" business going on, wouldnt they have it under some sort of surveillance (via satellite)....

i think the most MYSTERIOUS thing about our ISLAND is that it is LOST.

Well, i don't see why the government would leave an infested island and not return. Did the army let those soldiers die off and not try to rescue them?

Just too add abit more maybe thev illness is radiation poisoning, the island could of been used by the US army in WW2 to test weapons and in 1980 when dharma were on the island the incident caused the radiation levels to go back up?

the US army may have left when they attacked some of the stations and thought there were only them (swan and maybe one more was secret bases more hidden than the rest?) or the radiation killed soldiers?

this could fit in with other theories such as the people on the boat that took walt were the degroots and dharma personnel left on the island who hid in another station.

the hanso site doesnt mention dharma apart from a hidden link so maybe they severed links when the US attacked the island and the degroots went missing, also the missing part of the film was taken out by the degroots to keep the experiment and protocol going?

While the Knife was US Issue, the guns in the hatch were mostly Russian or Chinese. All items are however available as surplus.

This would point to a private organization that purchased these items IF it is assumed they are all from the same group. IF.......

Yeah, Hanso was supposed to be some kind of arms manufacturer or something, so it would make sense that he might have access to old US military hardware, especially if he was one of their suppliers. On the other hand, the 'invasion' theory could work if it was a 'black ops' kinda thing, something ultra-secret and hush-hush.... that way there would only be a very small number of (probably pretty ruthless) individuals who would know about it, and it makes more sense that they would just cut their losses and leave the island- and those on it- to their own devices. As someone else stated, if it was a larger entity like the US military, I think they would've kept the island under surveillance or something.

This could also shed some light on the 'incident' mentioned by Dr. Candle.... could someone have used the computer to communicate with someone on the outside, hence leading to SD-6 or whoever (LOL) finding out about what was going on on the island, and trying to take over and/or put a stop to it? Hence the admonition not to use the computer 'for anything other than entering the code.'
