i just thought, Sawyer has appeard in a few differant backstories. And in Boone and Shannons in particular , when Boone was in the police station and Sawyer got brought in. How doesnt Boone recognise him, because he and the police guy even talked about him afterwards , youd think he would. And how come Sawyer didnt tell Jack what his dad said to him at the bar?

Sawyer did tell Jack what his dad said to him at the bar :). Not word for word obviously...but the stuff that mattered to Jack. It was in the first half of "Exodus" (the season finale) last year.

As for why Boone didn't recognize Sawyer...I wondered that myself. If Sawyer had just happened to be there...and Boone never noticed him, that would be one thing. But the cop pointed Sawyer out to Boone and made a sarcastic remark. Boone looked right at him, so you think there would be SOME recognition there. I can understand him not remembering right away...but after Sawyer started getting into fights and starting trouble...and particularly after Sawyer beat HIM up...you think something would have jogged Boone's memory. Especially because the cop was calling attention to Sawyer's bad behaviour, and that's exactly what Sawyer initially showed to the other islanders.

Sawyer telling Jack about his dad is one of the top three touching moments of the entire series...very well done...

Well if it was me I would probaly have forgotten about Sawyer. Afterall he only saw him for a few moments and I am really bad at remembering faces. I would not of recognised him if it had been me at the police station.

But then again Boone may or may not be good at remembering faces......

What tickles me more is when that episode aired, the episode itself were so intense and thrilling but EVERYONE talked about that ONE cameo done by Sawyer in the episode...it actually made me feel abit sad about Boone LOL...just a little. Talk about stealing a the show! :D

Personally, I would say that in all honesty, our dear Sawyer, easily steals the show in every episode he's in, even if they don't center around him.

All jokin' aside, Josh is a really good actor and the intensity of his character seems to come very easily to him, not to mention that he's absolutely perfect in that part and NO ONE else could play it but Josh, it's tailor-made for him.

Another thing, I've noticed is that for the most part when there's a large portion of dialog to be said, it's usually Sawyer who's saying it. I mean the conversation about Jack's dad, the conversation around the campfire about the radio transmission, the conversation with Kate about why he wants on the raft so bad....there are too many to mention!!

Has anyone else noticed that?

Huggs y'all,
Lisa

P.S. Danielle, I promise to try to remember that Great Britain is a little further behind than we are so I don't spoil too much.

i do think that Josh delivers his lines beautifully, with the right amount of inflection/timing/sarcasm/lazy drawl that makes them hilarious ("Why you wanna see who's taller?". I really cannot imagine any actor playing Sawyers role, and that include big-time actors like Brad Pitt/Johnny Depp..etc

What cracks me up is the part on the bonus DVD where they're talking about everyone auditioning for their parts and that Dom had read for Sawyer and you can hear Josh say, 'Sawyer....please!" And the whole audience just cracked up....it's great. Then JJ said, "we decided Dom wasn't man enough to play Sawyer." Whoa!!! I 'bout hit the floor on that one! <-- another Southern saying.

You know what, Screwy, not even Bruce Willis could do Sawyer!!!

Of course, B'd be a little upset with me if he knew I said that, but it's true. I asked him once if he watched LOST and he said no and that it didn't make any sense, and I thought, "yea, I know why you don't watch it either."

Yep, it's lines like that that allow him to steal the show - those are the lines everyone's quoting the next day. ;) And I agree lisa, Josh is perfect in the role. Can you imagine if they HAD filled that role with a prada-wearing, slick and sleezy New York style con man?

NOOOOOO baby! Sawyer's going to go down as one of the best characters ever written for television.

You got that one right, T!!!

I read in The Lost Chronicles (at least I think that's where I saw it) that Josh said that he thought Sawyer was the best Southern character since Rhett Butler. Talk about hittin' the nail on the head!!

I agree 100% I live in the deep south and I can see Sawyer walking up in the Wal-Mart and pulling one of those lines how cool would that be!!:) I really like the whole Chewy line that is great and I think it is cool the way he says Feckles.

Any comparison of Sawyer to Rhett Butler is FINE by me ;)....mmmmm

I agree that Sawyer is often given the greatest lines. His comments in any situation are always priceless!

I loved that part so much. I kept rewinding it and replaying it. The way he says that "Sawyer...please." is the best. Now I have to watch it.

Okay, the rabid Sawyer fangirl is taking over me...

Yes, I noticed that pretty early on during S1. The character and the actor that plays him are both very charismatic, with a wicked sense of humor. And whether Sawyer is the focus of the episode or not, whether he's in the background, or standing off to the cameras focuse, your eyes are automatically drawn to him because there's an intensity and appeal to the character that's next to impossible to ignore.

Without trying, he pretty much owns every scene he's in.

Of course, It helps that Josh is as good-looking as he is, but the way he plays that character with all his charm and complexity is truly a marvel to watch...

Addendum:

I just realized that one of my favorite Sawyer lines was in 'White Rabbit' when after everyone discovered that Boone had hidden the water bottles, and he walks up to him later and says:

Sawyer: "So, how does it feel?"
Boone: "How does what feel?"
Sawyer: "Taking my place at the top of everyones most hated list. Sucks don't it?"

LMAO

It was probably one of the most unfeeling, uncaring and thoughtless things to say to someone considering everything that had happened, but man was it funny. And he had those dimples working overtime during that scene...:D Hilarious!

You got that one right, Darbi!!! Hit it on the head there.

Josh is a wonderful actor, everything he does is right on everytime. The power and intensity is flawless....I used to worry about them killing him off but I don't worry about it too much anymore. I mean can you imagine what would happen on this site, if they did? I don't like to think about that. Talk the DIMPLES invading Oahu!!!

On the DVD in the fight scene with Sayid in Part 2 of the Pilot. Our dear Nomad, Damon says that Josh was on fire that day. That was like his first or second day of shooting. I mean he just took over....watch the DVD with the commentary on and you can hear it.

Yeah, I remember "Nomad" (huh...funny nickname) making that statement about Josh, and how feral he displayed Sawyer in that scene. Then he goes on about the establishment of the Jack/Sawyer relationship when he says, "You're the hero, Doc."

Honestly, and not to toot Josh's lovely horn (oh, how I'd love to toot his horn) anymore than we already do, I think the writers had any idea how powerful and dynamic Josh was going to be in this role. And I'm not certain he would have been if they hadn't decided to make the character Southern like the actor...because like Josh mentioned on the DVD bonus disk, they set him free by doing that. And boy if doesn't play that character with complete abandon.

Thank goodness for hindsight. :D

You're right Darbi, I remember all that and it was so true.

Also, on the bonus DVD is a behind the scenes for Confidence Man, and I love it when Josh says, "I read the pilot and I thought, 'he's the first one to die!'. That's just great, got a job, all happy about it, I'm the first one cut." I thought that was so cute.

That reminds of Montgomery Gentry's song, "Somethin' To Be Proud Of" where it says, "you don't have to make a million, just be thankful to be workin." That reminds me so much of Josh. I've heard him say that he's so glad to be doin' what he loves.

I loved that scene for the simple reason it proved that Sawyer did care that people didn't like him - he thought it "sucked". ;)

Gotta laugh at the derisive comments and laughs that Dom got reading for Sawyer - he ended up with the girl in real life! :lol2:
