Ok, I read a few threads about Lenny (The guy Hurley met in the mental institute who continously mutters "The Numbers"). The posts are buried deep somewhere in the forum, but he needs to be brought up a few levels. If anything, Lenny knows a heck of a lot of what's going down on the island and I'd be surprised if the writers don't mention him again.

1. He probably knows the significance of the numbers.

2. He clearly's gone mad - the result of living in a hatch with artificial light, entering the numbers every 108 mins for who knows how long? (are they an IP address or longitude/latitude coordinates I wonder?). Obviously, that was a fate that Desmond didn't fancy meeting, and has now run away from. Where's he gone?

3. Has Lenny been released by the project? To live out the rest of his live in the mental institute? Who put him there?

4. What is "the box" he mentioned? Possibly the hatch? The computer? Or a box containing something ungodly that will only release its contents once those 108mins have been left to timeout?

I like your idea about the box releasing something if you don't type in the numbers. Maybe what the box released caused the first incident. Whatever it is I'm sure find out more as Lost continues

I think Lenny is going to play a big part in the near future and this is why the team decided to replay Numbers, hoping (or not hoping) we would catch something this time around that we missed before.
