I hope people still check out this subforum...even though it is a tad outdated. I've been watching a few of the season one episodes over again, and had to rewind the part where Shannon is translating the repeating French message a few times. I lived in France for awhile, and have always thought that the French message doesn't sound quite like what Shannon translates it to be, though I know that that is just silly for it to be something different. Still, I can't help but wonder, because my French skills aren't all that wonderful.

For example, that first part sounds to me like "Il est dort. Il est dort." Shannon translates this to be "Please. Please." I know this isn't right. But after that, my French isn't good enough to understand the French message clearly enough over Shannon and everyone else speaking in English.

Just wondering if I am completely missing something, or if any other French speakers here could tell me I am absolutely wrong or translate some of the other parts.

Ahhh....merci beaucoup. I knew I wasn't hearing 'please.' "Il est dehors" actually crossed my mind, but dismissed it for whatever reason.

Funny I can speak French and I could understand it very clearly but I can't write it

Okay, I don't have the episode handy, so I can't remember what exactly she says. But it's something like:

"Veuillez nous aider" = please help us

"Ils sont morts" = they're dead

"Il les a tue tous" = He OR it killed them all. I can't do diacritical marks, but the "e" in "tue" has an accent slanting this way / over it

I can't remember what else she says, but she definitely doesn't say "Il est dort". That doesn't mean anything; "dort" is the third-person singular of "to sleep" and "il est" means "he/it is".

yup that particular post seems to have heard correctly, only things is that there are two additional words they missed (vous etes, which goes in front of the allez) which changes the meaning from 'go to the Black Rock' to 'you (all) went to the Black Rock)
