flora 01-12-2006, 12:08 AM Little Eko shoots man so brother doesn’t have to
Head of “gang” says: ‘Look at Mr. Eko, no hesitation. A born killer. Come, you won’t need that any more.”
Religious References
(Eko is whisked away, his cross left in dirt, brother picks it up)
Religious References
Claire- what are you writing?
Eko- something I need to remember.
Religious References
Eko knows Aaron is the Biblical brother of Moses and wants to know why Claire chose that name. Explains that Aaron spoke for Moses. (Claire just says she liked the name.)
Drugs:
Claire shows Eko where the statue was… (how did she know where it was- Charlie hasn’t been hiding it well).
Drugs: Interesting that it was Eko, (in front of Claire no less!) that breaks open the Virgin Mary- NOT Charlie.
Weird numbers:
Locke and the lock (on the safe)- second number he tries is 29, I missed the first one
Songs of Lost
Charlie is singing The Kinks (good English rocker boy!) while “helping” Jin fishing. (Does anyone know the song? I love the Kinks but I didn't recognize what Charlie was singing.)
Quip:
“Why thank you, Jin, I do have a beautiful voice.”- when Jin makes motion to the surf pools as though he’s scaring the fish away by making so much racket.
Eko wants to be taken to where Charlie found the statue. He agrees, says he is “up for a stroll” and says they’ll leave first thing in the morning, but Eko demands NOW
History References (war in Nigeria)
Eko…goes into shack where Spanish-Arab looking man has a HUGE bag of drugs, Eko tastes it. Says there is no market for heroin in Nigeria and the only planes in the air are UN Aid and Catholic charities.
Drug man says Eko has “no soul”- he quickly slices that guy and his partner- lets the boy that was with him run to tell “that Mr. Eko let you live.”
Claire is clearly disappointed in Charlie and him tearing up the sack of heroin onto the sand and claiming he hasn’t been using doesn’t assuage her disappointment
Reference to earlier moment on LOST:
Locke and Michael share a moment with a gun (Locke is teaching Michael, who must be planning to go commando off into the jungle to bring back his boy) that is eerily reminiscent of Locke teaching Walt how to throw the knife last season
Michael appears to be a natural shot…there’s a lot a desperate Dad can do if he wants, apparently.
Reference to previous moment on LOST: Charlie leads Eko to a tree, Eko clearly knows that he is lying and asks him to take him “to the plane”. ("The plane" where Boone had his accident.)
Drugs: Eko knows that Charlie knew what was in the statue despite denying it.
Religious/ Drug reference/ Weird number: “200 dinar (?), Sir.” (For Virgin Mary statue that will go to fight polio according to woman selling them outside the church.)
Religious:
Eko tells his brother he came for confession. (Brother is the priest)
His brother says that he has to have a repenatant soul in order to have confession.
Eko reminds brother (when he sees he’s wearing his cross) of what happened the day that his brother got that cross- he asks if that was a sin, and if it is forgiven “because it was you who was saved.”
Brotherly love: “I will always love you, but I will not help. It’s good to see you again, Brother.”- Eko’s bro when he asks for a plane (I guess Catholic priests have an “in” with the Catholic charities)
Hygiene: Kate cuts Sawyer’s hair on the beach…Hurley and Michael express support for Sawyer. (Makes him look like he’s going to cry! He doesn’t like being liked! It makes Kate laugh.)
Brothers and Religious ref:
Charlie explains to Eko that he was an alter boy until his brother Liam got him on heroin.
Eko notices a body hanging from a tree (?) a parachute…discovers a Priest’s body on the floor…Eko tears open the uniform to look to see if his cross is on him…caresses his shriveled face…Charlie asks what’s up and Eko replies, “This man saved my life.”
Hey...where is everyone? I feel as though I'm talking to myself in here!
waltisfuture 01-12-2006, 12:37 AM Hey flora. I started one before they put up the 23rd Psalm section.
See HERE (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showpost.php?p=698711&postcount=1)
oops that didn't work, brb
Well I figured out how people are connecting to single posts. Doh. I'll try again.
One more TRY (http://www.thefuselage.com/Threaded/showthread.php?t=31740)
flora 01-12-2006, 12:39 AM Religious/ Mr. Eko's staff:
Charlie recognizes the scripture carved in Eko's staff...says, "you're a priest, he's a priest, yeah?"
Religious- The church in small village- two women in pews, a curtain separates the confessional from the chapel, prayer candles burning
Eko wants a signature in exchange for a plane...to make Eko a "priest", he says he will give him the money for the vaccine if he gets his plane- his brother the priest says that Eko will never be a priest and that a signature doesn't make him so.
Religious/Reoccuring Prop (the stick)/ Quip: "What are you going to do if I don't? Beat me with your Jesus stick?"- Charlie to Eko when he's asked to shimmy up the tree to get his bearings when Charlie manages to get them both lost
Eko's staff (reoccuring prop) Blood on stick- Charlie finds it weird that there's scripture on the stick with dried blood
Monster: Eko (he's a bad mother...shut your mouth!)- stands his ground in front of the "monster" (I guess with all that warmongering, he's still seen worse!)
Monster- black smoke, looks like a head or hand reaches out and "scans Eko", it flashes like its a old Instamatic camera taking pictures
Heh-heh, Waltisfuture- so where is that other thread? Or should I keep taking notes here?
Monster-
"Did you see it?" Eko
"I did nothing."- Eko to Charlie when he asks what he did when he saw the monster.
The hatch computer-
Michael at computer:
Dad?
Are you ok?
yes
are you alone?
yes
can't talk long they will be back soon...(didn't catch the rest)
Kidnapped Walt: No one's forgotten about Walt. (Or is that "I" haven't forgotten about Walt?)- Jack expresses concern/sympathy/help to Michael over Walt.
Computer in the hatch: Michael had turned off the screen so Jack couldn't see...hmmm...
Eko and Charlie find the plane and Eko flashes back to when it was new...
Saved life/I 'owe' you one- "You saved my life once and now I'm to save yours."- Brother to Eko
Brothers- Brother was shot by the military he called on the drug runners- Eko lifts him into the Beechcraft and as he is about to climb in, his brother kicks him back onto the runway. The door is slammed shut. The plane flies away...Eko is left alone on the ground. (Brother DID save his life)
Beechcraft (reoccuring prop)/religious/brothers- Eko finds his brother- and his cross- on the plane. Means that his dead brother was on the plane while Shannon's dead brother (Boone) was...
Religious: Military guy asks Eko, "Are you okay, Father?" (Eko realizes that he thinks that HE is the priest. A slight change in his eyes, expression.) It must be then that he resolved to change his life.
Religious- Eko unthreads cross off his dead brother.
Brothers-
Charlie: "Eko, who's that?"
Eko: "He's my brother."
Charlie: "I'm sorry."
(Charlie doesn't question it...seems like he's seen enough improbable stuff on the island already- your dead Nigerian priest brother is on the island? oh sure, that makes sense!)
Reoccuring images Beechcraft and Virgin Mary-
Eko removes fuel hose from the ceiling of the plane and starts leaking it...hands Charlie a statue and says it's "For the one I broke."
Religious/Quotes:
"So are you a priest or aren't you?"
Eko puts on his cross. "Yes, I am." Quotes 23rd Psalm (KJV)
Charlie starts reciting with him as the both get melancoly watching the plane burn.
Integration of the tailies-
Ana-Lucia at fire by herself.
Jin walks up and introduces her to Sun, gives her a fat fish.
Hurley comes along Libby trying to set up her tent and helps her
He blushes like a little girl. (Awwww...how cute!)
Hygiene- Sawyer checks himself out in the mirror- hey, Kate did a good job! It's still kinda long! (Good girl!) Feathered back in a Shaun Cassidy, Hardy Boys kinda way.
Jack gives Sawyer a antibiotic (probably)
Quotes-
Claire: You lied to me Charlie.
Charlie: I'm sorry. It made me feel safer knowing it was around.
Claire says that she doesn't want Charlie sleeping anywhere around her or the baby.
He walks off and packs up as Aaron starts howling.
Reference to previous LOST; Charlie, fire, jungle...looks very much like "The Moth" episode from last year. No, Charlie, Don't do it! No more magic aspirin from Jack from the last time you had to come down!
Oh oh...he has a whole FREAKIN' STASH of Virgin Marys!!!!
This episode, though satisfying, didn't really offer a whole lot in the LLL kind of detail note taking. I think I missed out by typing instead of enjoying the "red" tone of the fake Nigerian flashbacks. (That's so Hawaii, so not Africa...at least noticably so in the airport scene). Visually it was a very pretty episode (IMO).
Re: Kink's song-

shootfire 01-12-2006, 02:11 AM Religious reference:
The drug guy told Eko he had no soul.
As Eko laid his brother to rest he quoted Psalm 23. There was one verse that has obvious significant meaning for Eko in that context.
"He restoreth my soul."
Sam G 01-12-2006, 03:09 AM 300 Virgin Mary Statues
Tail Number on the Plane 5ZGWN
Combination Locke tries 25, 29
