I apologise if this has been mentioned but I found it strange. We all know that the Black Rock is the slave ship that somehow ended up in the middle of the jungle . But when Charlie is reading Claire's diary back in "Special" I think it was, it stated that Claire had a dream about a black rock, not a ship.

Any thoughts?

i had always assumed that it was a place, as in a natural formation, until they showed up at the ship. maybe her dream was important because the names were connected?

How many types of behavior experiments are there that we can clearly understand first hand on slaverly, as in the black rock.
could they have reached back in time and taken a ship and pulled it there to witness the behavior and progress of such a horrilbe situation ?

Thoughts: You ever read a fortune cookie? Listen to biblical interpretation? Get DIA reports from the STAR GATE program...? This, er, phenomena tends to work in an associative fashion. The psychic isn't likely to get a literal picture but rather an interprative image.

Of course, that's not to say there isn't a huge chuck of black rock on the island somewhere. It's a volcanic island, after all...

Actually if you type Black Rock into google you come up with a poem by John Fletcher Gould 1886-1950. great Poem and kind of scary metaphor for what is going on in the island.
check it out and give me your thoughts.

Here's my take on it:

Before we, the viewers, found out that the Black Rock was actually a ship, we probably assumed it was an actual black rock (I know I did), and so I imagine Claire (or anyone else on the island who'd heard mention of the Black Rock) would have assumed that it was an actual rock, too.

At some point she has a dream where she sees this so-called black rock, and decides it's important enough to write in her diary.
