Did anyone else catch that tone in Zeke's voice, or is that one of my Obscure Observations?

View Full Version : Zeke's was Frendly asking Locke to Light a fire ozieozwall 01-20-2006, 04:26 AM Did anyone else catch that tone in Zeke's voice, or is that one of my Obscure Observations? fak 01-20-2006, 04:30 AM My interpretation of that line was that Zeke was being patronising towards Locke, saying that I know all about your survival skills so why don't you be a good little boy and light a fire, as that is all you are good for, whilst I talk to Jack (who is more important than you). Noeland 01-20-2006, 05:27 AM Yeah, I think he was also trying to mind f*** them by addressing them with thier names like that. He was trying to intimidate them, and in that task I believe he failed pretty badly. Even after they gave up thier guns to get Kate back, none of them looked too scared of the others. John_Locke 01-20-2006, 06:17 AM i think they just wanted the guns...so they staged the whole sit down as an ambush. No Mercy Video 01-20-2006, 07:50 AM A good way to win a fight is to keep your enemies unarmed. So now they have alot of their weapons. I felt he was being nice and only got mean when the situation called for it. slickfifty 01-20-2006, 08:53 AM I think Beardo (I don't generally care for Sawyer's rude nicknames) WAS being friendly, in a gruff way. He is even credited in the ep as "Mr. Friendly". I believe the only "others" that we KNOW FOR SURE have killed the lostaways (Ethan and Goodwin) are not a part of the burlap tribe. They dress better, are groomed better, and had no firearms-Ethan had only his fists and a sling, Goodwin his hands. There are the puppet masters (the string pullers on the island) and the puppets-ther experimenters and experimentees-that compose the Islands natives. The burlapbillies are the remnants of the lab rats that were the SUBJECTS, while Ethan/Goodwin are higher up in the Dharma chain of command somehow, more like experimenters than experimentees. Yes, I know they shot Sawyer and blew up the raft. But it DID seem if it was a careful aim at his shoulder-and as for blowing up the raft-if they wanted to kill Michale and Jin they could have shot them too-I think they blew up the raft to prevent anyone from leaving the Island. Note how Beardo said "I come in peace" or "Noones going to hurt YOU, Jack". He came across annoyed, not angry at the lostaways. He actually sounded like the voice of reason when he said "It's time we had a talk." Joshypoo 01-20-2006, 09:01 AM And he does say right off the bat, "I come in peace" and "no one is going to hurt you Jack". He did look pissy at Locke though refering to him opening doors/the hatch. But other than that - he was friendly, until they wouldn't give the guns. Toxi51 01-20-2006, 10:31 AM I think you nailed it right on the head. Zeke is trying to show how much in control they are so they ask the one person who the losties rely on the most to do the most menial task......... Yeah, I think he was also trying to mind f*** them by addressing them with thier names like that. He was trying to intimidate them, and in that task I believe he failed pretty badly. Even after they gave up thier guns to get Kate back, none of them looked too scared of the others. tarf 01-20-2006, 10:42 AM A good way to win a fight is to keep your enemies unarmed. To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting. -Sun Tzu, the Art of War ladyrune24 01-20-2006, 10:43 AM Was it just me or did Calling Mr.Friendly "Zeke" Seem to strike a cord with him? Something in his eyes when Sawyer said it but I couldn't tell if he was reacting to the name or the threat. Also, he seemed friendly enough considering they narrowed the tailies from 23 to 4 pretty quick while only taking one of ours, Sceve. They really didn't need to prove to Locke or me they were in control. it was a given. What their agenda was isn't? The thing that bothered me most was Jack's stupid alpha male stare down instead of critical questions like, exactly where is this line? Do you want the hatch back because it's a serious time drain on our activities? are you coming back for Aaron or was Ethan AWOL? What are your exact stipulations for living here and is Danielle with you or against you? and MOST IMPORTANTLY, what the F*** is with the freakin' black smoke and erupting trees??!!! Slopster53 01-20-2006, 10:45 AM Obviously Jack isn't scared of them. I wonder what Locke will think of taking action against them. Toxi51 01-20-2006, 10:46 AM HAHAHA, man you seem angry.... We don't really know if the seabillies are the same that took Aaron and then the tailies.... Personally I think Zeke was trying to project fear and when Sawyer said that they arn't done, was slightly worried.... If Zeke knows what's going on in the hatch, he should know they have an arsenol in there...... including automatic weapons (well at least one i think) Was it just me or did Calling Mr.Friendly "Zeke" Seem to strike a cord with him? Yes, Jack is fast becoming a liability. Almost anyone else there would have defused the confrontation by a few degrees-and maybe Beardo would spring for some darn good intel about the Island. fna ladyrune24 01-20-2006, 10:49 AM To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting. -Sun Tzu, the Art of War EXCELLENT QUOTE! Another way to win is to divide and conquer which the LOSTIES seem to be doing to themselves quite well with all the commando alpha males and the "it's my way, there's no highway options" arrogant leaders. I mean really, Mike's "it's my right arguement" doesn't help Walt if he gets himself killed by not clarifying exactlly who he's talking to or what their game is, if it wasn't all an hallucination. Then Jack's so what if we're surrounded. We'll do a "Butch Cassidy" until Kate was pulled out. He was more than willing to sacrifice Locke and Sawyer but not Kate. Whatever! Could the leader who actually thinks before he backs himself, and anyone with you, into a corner please step forward? Toxi51 01-20-2006, 10:50 AM I think he'll take action and be for it. He's really into "not telling him what he can and can't do". That is unless he agrees with since we're on there island we should be good old boys........ Obviously Jack isn't scared of them. I wonder what Locke will think of taking action against them. christineluvszeke 01-20-2006, 10:50 AM I think my man zeke was being sarcastic. A little too calm. ladyrune24 01-20-2006, 10:53 AM Oh, yeah, and Kudos to Kate! Once again, she's in the totally wrong place at the right time, for the "Others". Convenient, huh? Someone needs to learn "Lesson 22" and use it on her. |
