In archaeology class today, my TA mentioned something about the earth's magnetic poles reversing, and how this rare occurence has been long overdue. She then specifically said "i would not want to be in a plane when that happens." And then it hit me.

The producers always said the story was strictly scientific. What if this caused the plane crash?

my theory is that button they hit every 108 minutes turns on the big magnet they found underneath the hatch. The plan was lost for 2 hours when it crashed. I think the magnet turns on and sucks anything metal in. It keeps bringing people to the island that think other's are trying to get them and eventually they become the others. Jack did ask Ana Lucia if she could train an army. I'm sure Zeke did the same with his group and Danielle with hers.

I know I would go paranoid and crazy after being stranded on an island for 50 days.

If it's a magnetic thing then why isn't Jack's neck pulled off, I mean he has a small magnent on his Neck, if it can take a plane down or pull it why doesn't it pull's Jack's Necklace with the key?
