Ok, I did a search but I didn't see this mentioned here yet.

I can't take credit for what I am about to show you, I saw it first on lost-forum.

Alright, during the encounter with the Others we all heard Sawyer use the nickname "Zeke" for the bearded seabilly, played by MC Gainey. Well, check out this picture:

http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0276033/03CT-10618.jpg?path=pgallery&path_key=Gainey,%20M.C&seq=3

Notice anything to the right of Gainey on the bus? To my knowledge, the picture has not been photochopped. Coincidence? Fate? Who knows.

Here's my theory:
The others who whisperrr are really the Country Bears. They're really good at hiding themselves though. ALSO, they provide all the incredible music we hear on Lost. I mean, where else could it be coming from? If you notice, there is a lot of string instruments in the soundtrack... and the Country Bears apparently play a lot of string instruments (violins, guitars, etc.).

That's why Zeke was stopping them! If they'd've crossed the line they'd've stumbled upon a good old fashioned hoe down!!

Well now Goddess, lets think about this. Lost is on ABC, which is owned by Disney, which has theme parks in Orlando and LA that both have the Country Bear Jamboree! Maybe there is a connection here~

Im gonna check it out the next time I go down there and I'll let you know if they have a new young human looking washboard player!

Ok, now on a serious note... do you think that's where Sawyer got the name "Zeke" from? Was that the character's name in the movie? Because if it was, it was a Very funny (and obscure) reference put in by the writers.

Just so you know, there was a poll here before the episode aired about Locke being the only one Sawyer hadnt nicknamed yet and one of the top two chosen from a list posted by TRoss was Mr. Clean! Funny how Locke responded to his shiny new nickname with "Why did you come up with that name?" Could it be a nod to the "Lage? Maybe

Oh man... yeah that had to be. Well, we do know that they read the boards... those writers really get around! They read here and watch The Country Bears.

this is what I found for Zeke (country bear) I tried to post a link but mine almost never work! I have no idea what I'm doing wrong! Anyway It seems that Zeke is the leader of "the five bears rugs" and plays the banjo. found the info at wikipedia encyclopedia.

I don't know if there is a real connection to lost or not. But it is hysterical:biggrin:

I could see them calling him Zeke on the set as a joke because he was in the contry bears and then someone saying he that's a name Saywer could call him it sounds like a Seabilly name. I think the name is just a Goof on him.

But as I showed above I think the Charater Zeke and Danielle were members of the band on the Album shown above. In the 70's alot of the people and alot of musicians fell into the Dharma and Hari Krishna Sceen. Maybe they took it that one step to far and where promised life everlasting and joined the experment that Hanso was doing. I bet the Robert that was on the boat with them is the other guy. Just my thoughts Half of my thoughts are wrong but what fun is it if you can't share them.

The Country Bears thing is hilarious! It's funny because I was watching Sideways earlier this week and I just happened to let the credits roll at the end and saw M.C. Gainey...he has an interesting part in the movie...it's quite short and quite naked. Anyway, it was just weird because then I heard about this too! Great find with the 'Zeke' thing too!
