I was curious to know if the writers are given "homework assignments" for character specific backstories. In other words, does one person work on Sawyer's backstory for the season and another writer on Charlie's? Or is each episode's backstory written when that episode is written? If the writers do have "homework" to create a character's arc for the season, then are those episodes laid out and tweaked to work for a specific episode or to add a connection to another character on the island?
