Rose explains to Jack that she wears Bernard's wedding band on her necklace anytime they take a plane flight because his fingers swell up (and she shows him the ring on her necklace). On the flight, she is speaking with Jack and there was no ring/band at all on her necklace.

I thought this was strange being that it was a significant part of her and Jack's conversation on the beach.

I agree with you. It seems too significant to be an error made by the crew.

I'd go with it being an error. They probably shot the 2 scenes at different times and added the ring on the necklace as part of the conversation between Rose and Jack after they shot the scene in the plane.

I used to think this until I re-watched the pilot episodes that aired last night. There are way too many errors that have been made during the flashbacks that make me think that the theory of the plane crash being implanted memories holds some weight.

you might be right - memories being implanted sounds like something hanso would do - very interesting - could account for the differences in the flashbacks

I could have sworn that at one point on the flight when rose is talking about her hubby, and the plan starts to shake and go crazy.. she grabs the ring.. and kisses it! I know that she kissed his ring at one point on the flight!

I wouldnt completely throw out that theory of it all being memory implants, but a job like that would have to be complicated and time consuming. I hear that it's very hard to implant small details and also complex details. I don't know much about the process so I'm only going on a few small details that I've heard in the past.
For instance, take Sun. Are you saying that all her memories are implanted, such as her meeting Jin, Jin working for her father, etc?

i think the memories that are affected are the ones that have to do with the flight - maybe the black smoke that came out in the plane has something to do with it.

Maybe it is just different people remember the event in different ways. Jack may not remember Rose's ring but Rose would because it was important to her. Maybe during the flashbacks we are getting how that character remembers things, not necessarily how it happened.

No what I am saying is that it is a possibility that all of the memories of the plane crash are implanted.

One Girl (i do not think she is a major part of the show) says the noise she heard just before the plane crash sounds familiar. I think it's Charlie that asks where are you from? Her reply was the Bronx. Did any one else catch this?

It's also very important to remember that this was the pilot episode. It was made before it was even picked up to be a series. Most likely, there are very many months between the filming of the pilot, and the filming of the next episode. It only makes logical sense that some things, or plot lines, or ideas, aren't fully developed. Or at the very least, that there will be a few holes.

You have a good point... but... Were pilot part 1 and pilot part 2 made during the same span of time? Rose's ring thing happened during these 2 episodes. Also if Charlie was in the front section of plane during the crash I don't understand how the time-line of shooting the episodes would make a difference to this error.

Here are my observations...
The ring was not on the necklace in flight. She did kiss it on the beach ( not the scene where she's talking with Jack in another epi but standing amongst the wreckage). Perhaps in another epi, Rose has a FB and it shows her kissing it on the plane.. can't remember if she had one or not.

I rewatched the episode and you guys were right, you can't see the ring on the plane, so I'm going with it just being an error in filming.
As for Charlie ending up with the rest of the losties, I'm basing my theory on a previous post by Javi.
