I had this idea, I don't know if it's a game, but you name a character and think of songs that really would be great theme songs for them. You keep trading back and forth (or more) until everyone agrees that the perfect song has been found...or until you can't think of any more :)

John Locke - "I Will Survive"

Thats all I could come up with off the top of my head!

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:27 PM
Okay.... can I post my one from the LB here?

Shannon and Boone... Strangelove...

(And by the way Jorie... this game is SO much more on topic than incessant whining over LJ being down!)

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:28 PM
Ok, we are starting with Locke.

Lol, I will Survive. That's awesome.

What about...."Teach Your Children Well" :lol2:

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:29 PM
Jeanine...we'll do S/B next, I promise...but we got a new player over here and Locke is going to be fun too methinks :)

And thank you. I appreciate the compliment :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:32 PM
Sounds good... I've got my Locke thinking cap on.

How about.... "Hunting High and Low" by A-ha.

;)

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:32 PM
Hungry Like the Wolf...Duran Duran :)

Elspethe
01-14-2005, 11:34 PM
The Continuing Story Of Bungalo Bill ;D

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:35 PM
Stayin Alive... the BeeGees.

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:35 PM
Ooo nice one. Hmmmm. Locke Locke Locke...."I can see clearly now, the rain has gone..." Course, he saw the rain come too.... :P

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:40 PM
sabrina, I don't think that's a song ;)

I'm sorry to hear that :(

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:42 PM
lol, nice choice...see, the board didn't eat *all* ofyour comments :)

Hmm. Lol. George Michael: "I will be your preacher teacher, anything you had in mind..." Can't remember what that song was called....but I'm *sure* it's appropriate:)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:43 PM
Prayers for Rain... the Cure...

And Jorie... I think that George Michael song is "Father Figure"

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:44 PM
Ah, thanks Jeanine. Closet George Michael fan?

Maybe we should just do all of the characters as they come to us? What do you think?

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:46 PM
"Old Man" Neil Young :) Although that might be a song that Jack would sing to him or something. I don't know :)

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:50 PM
Oh, I love that song :) Yay.

Lol. I have "My boyfriend's back" in my head but I don't which character if any it would particularly work for....so I'm just going throw it out there. *giggle* my brain is scary sometimes.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:50 PM
I'm ready to do all characters as they come to us...

Sawyer... to Sayid... "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?" by the Culture Club

(more than a closet George Michael fan...)

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:51 PM
Jeanine: That is too, too much. Oh Lord is that hilarious.

Ok, all characters, huh?

Which U2 song is it that has the line: "ANd a woman needs a man like a fish needs a bicycle?" I cant think of the title right now. But that would be good for Kate too.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:52 PM
Jorie, good call for Kate. :) On a more serious note, I was thinking of Running Away by Toby Lightman.... but I don't know if anybody else knows that tune...

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:54 PM
don't worry about whether people know it, Jeanine :) Maybe someone will come on who does or doesn't know all/any of this stuff. This is brain exercise, yessur!

So I have to put in my "Crying" by Roy Orbison for Charlie here. And for Sun, "Love's Illusions", Joni Mitchell.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-14-2005, 11:57 PM
I like the Joni Mitchell, Jorie!

Back to Locke: Wonderboy by Tenacious D

JorieJC2
01-14-2005, 11:58 PM
Great choices you two! And thanks Jeanine :)

Hmm. I'm thinking "Show me the way to the next whiskey bar" by the Doors for Sawyer :)

And for Locke...Strange by the Doors. "Faces come out of the rain," yo. :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:00 AM
You guys are both BRILLIANT.... totally digging the Barbie Girl!

Back to Shannon and Boone... If You Love Somebody Set Them Free by Sting....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:03 AM
Much love and props to you both. :)

Hmm. I was thinking Tainted Love for Boone & Shannon.

do we need to do spoiler tags up in here?

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:04 AM
Lol. Aqua rules :)

Shannon: Dancing Queen by another great "A" group--ABBA!!!!!

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:05 AM
I think we can officially retire Shannon and Boone with Tainted Love... I'm lmao over here.... *

Spoiler tags... dunno. It's already aired....

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:07 AM
This may be in poor taste...

Claire - Gone Daddy Gone by the Violent Femmes?

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:11 AM
Good one Sabrina...

Now for Sayid to Boone.... "Me N Yer Girl" by the Phunk Junkeez

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:16 AM
Hey Kittens, I'm back. My computer needed a breather so she decided to freeze :(

Love what I missed. Hmm. We should write a Lost Opera using these songs. Do you think actors woudl do it? lol.

How about another one in bad taste, "The needle and the damage done" by Neil Young, for Charlie but of course.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:17 AM
Oooooh.... I know I already conceded Shannon and Boone but this is too perfect... it must be submitted for consideration...

"It's a Sin" by the Pet Shop Boys

Jorie.... perfect for Charlie!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:18 AM
Actually there's another good S/B song too, by the Indigo Girls. "You were only Jokin'".

"You kissed me like I was a soldier, headed for war...I'm a dyin' man but I don't know what for...And you were only jokin'."

see? :)

that1spunkygirl
01-15-2005, 12:19 AM
How about for Sun - "Silent All These Years" by Tori Amos

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:20 AM
Spunky Girl! Perfect!

Bliss
01-15-2005, 12:20 AM
What an interesting idea, Jorie and great contributions by everyone! *:D

The song, "Fallen" by Sarah McLachlan fits well with Lost to me. Charlie comes immediately to mind but I think it could apply to many of the characters since they all seem to be struggling to overcome mistakes and loss in their past.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:24 AM
Thank you Bliss, and welcome. That's a very nice choice.

For a dramatic duet between kate & sayid: U2's Kite (never too much U2 for me!)

http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/u2/kite.html

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:24 AM
Taking a page from Bliss' book... Nightmares by the Sea by Jeff Buckley is another non-character specific song that comes to mind...

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:25 AM
ohh, poor Jeff Buckley.

What about Vancouver for Charlie & Claire..."This is our last embrace, must I live and always seeyour face?" :'(

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:26 AM
Brina...that's cute :)

How about Vogue for Shannon? We need some Madonna on here I think :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:26 AM
Jorie... Last Goodbye is only the BEST SONG EVER! * ;D

Perfect for those two.... abso frigging lutely perfect!

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:28 AM
lol at Vogue for Shannon!

For Charlie.... "I Want a New Drug," Huey Lewis and the News

(yes, child of the eighties here)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:28 AM
JP, you're too good to me. why did I think those lyrics were in Vancouver? hmm.

I think on a similar note, although written by Leonard Cohen, "Hallelujah" would be a nice one for Kate & Jack.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:29 AM
I dig the 80s too :) *sniff* Memories of childhood

Jin: "We're not gonna take it"...Twisted Sister? Am I thinking of a Twisted Sister song?

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:31 AM
Ahhhh, Hallelujah. Good call Jorie..... Best cover song ever (forgive me if I prefer Buckley's version).

Given the lack of action over Claire's disappearance and Sayid calling her "the pregnant girl"... perhaps "Whatshername" by Green Day?

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:34 AM
oh poor Walt and Michael. We have not really given them any songs have we? Good call.

I'm thinking Cat Stevens :) "I know...I have to go away...."

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:36 AM
Boone's Mom: (?) My blue-eyed son by Bobert Dylan :) And dont' we all want to know...

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:38 AM
I'm having trouble with Walt and Michael... I feel like I don't know them really well yet. But I think maybe "Godspeed" by the Dixie Chicks.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:38 AM
Maybe whenever we see Charlie or Claire we can just hear the big dramatic theme from Romeo and Juliet--the 70s (and best) version....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:39 AM
JP: I know what you mean about Michael & Walt. Apparently that is going to be taken care of in the coming episode, which I am really looking forward to. They've both been pretty low profile lately.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:41 AM
Jorie.... LOL on the Romeo and Juliet... And I can't wait to see more about Michael and Walt! I love me some Walt!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:42 AM
Brina: I'm so glad you're enjoying yourself :) I didn't think this would be so fun, frankly. I almost wish more people would play just because the more people, the more diverse the music choices would be. But we're doing pretty darned good for 3 chicks that were banished from the esteemed LB :) (did I say that out loud?)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:44 AM
Jorie... LOL! wtf was up with that anyway. We were SO more on topic than the rest of that board!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:44 AM
oh man. Just the name Aaron Neville makes my eyes tear up. Let me just get this out of the way. For those that passed, his rendition of Ave Maria. For the couples, Neville's duet with Linda Rondstadt (sp?). It was ultra-sappy but it works :)

Bliss
01-15-2005, 12:46 AM
Ooh, can we make it a quartet since I'm too nervous to jump in at the LB  ?

"Criminal" by Fiona Apple for Kate, of course. I also can't wait to see Walt and Michael this week!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:46 AM
I don't know why we have been banished. People were generally not in good moods today. The first thing I posted this morning was this idea I had about all of these posters teaming up with the cast since there's a good comraderie here and doing some really amazing charity stuff. so someone comes on and directs me to the april party and says, "That's all I'm going to say about that."

And I hate to say it but the people that were complaining about us....really aren't solidly on topic either, wot with fan clubs and such. So, oh well.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:48 AM
Bliss!! You're still there. Lol. I thought *we* had scared you away. Of course, chime in chime in! Fiona Apple is a great choice for Kate. Most righteous. Heehee. What about the Beatles song "Everyone's got something to hide except for me and my monkey." That could work for darn near anybody.

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:49 AM
Bliss... I love it....

I'm happy to live in banishment if it's with you guys.... *;D

Another entry for Vincent... "Who Let the Dogs Out," I believe that gem is by Baha Men?

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:50 AM
Oh boy! I've moved into baggage! Good Lord. What happens when you do a zillion posts? Do they throw you off the plane? *::)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:51 AM
I shame-facedly must admit I do not know who this Vincent person is =/ Crap.

Baha Men. Talk about one-hit I wonder why they got famous.

For all of the islanders, how about "Fight the Power" by Public Enemy :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:52 AM
I hope not, Jorie... I didn't pack my chute!

btw... Vincent is the DOG! * ::)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:52 AM
For Charlie: 1,000 miles by the Proclaimers :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:53 AM
Okay... strategy check... are you guys doing these all off the top of your head? Because I'm browsing my WMP for ideas....

Here's another vague/general island song....

"I'll Be Here A While" by 311.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:54 AM
Lol. The DOG is going to have a theme song? Man. Our Lost Opera is going to KICK ***!!!! :) (and dogs everywhere will rejoice)

Maybe we should have the Kibbles 'nBits song in there for equal time....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:55 AM
JP...I'm going off the top of my head. If you are not posting *exactly* as I am, then I am afraid...well, we're going to have to banish you. ;D

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 12:56 AM
Jorie... lol. I guess you own the thread since you started it!* * ;D

Trying to find an appropriate Spinal Tap song in honor of Charlie and of Dom's alias on here... but nothing seems to stand out.

edited to add an important conjunction

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 12:57 AM
500,1000. My heart was in the right place. Maybe I should start posting lyrics cuz I can't get any titles right :)

For the "thing" that Boone & Locke have been working on..."Cosmic thing" B52s? :) (trying to be ambiguous in case we are supposed to be using spoilers)

And anytime Jin goes fishing, it should clearly be Rock Lobster by B52s :)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:00 AM
Don't worry, I'm not going to throw anyone out of here. Unless they mention ORC or Live Journal

At least for tonight, anyway. I've been overloaded with said phrases/terms.

Not spinal tap, but I think Charlie wouldn't mind the song "Sex and Drugs and Rock'nRoll"

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:01 AM
And keeping with the B-52's theme... *for Sayid's little jaunt across the island, how about "Roam"?

(love me some B-52's and have been unsuccessfully trying to work "Love Shack" into this thread)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:02 AM
Oh man. Brina went Buffet on us, gals :)

OK, for all islanders, "We've gotta get out of this place," by the Animals.

Trapped, the best Bruce Springsteen song EVER

Bliss
01-15-2005, 01:03 AM
Thank you guys for the warm welcome *:D !

I'm not nearly as good at coming up with songs off the top of my head so I keep popping in and out to see what you've come up with. Sabrina, I love that you add the lyrics--it's very helpful! It's hard to think of songs that just don't have a great title but have lyrics that fit ;D.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:03 AM
Roam is an awesome song.

Love Shack, eh? Hmm. Well, I think the whole island might become a love shack at this rate :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:04 AM
Don't know if I can handle the Buffet! * ;)

In honor of Hurley and his... er.... digestive problems.... "Strange Fruit." I like the Billie Holliday version....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:05 AM
No problem, Bliss.

The trick seems to be to try to limit yourself to one character. You will then have songs pop into your head that will go with every other character except the one you started with.

We started with Locke. Can't you tell?

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:06 AM
I was going to say Strange Fruit in terms of Charlie's being hanged, but since the song was aboutlynching I didn't think it would be very p.c. But I guess now I have revealed that I am a horrible, horrible person :)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:09 AM
Ogh, brina. My favorite Prince song. Yay!!!!

For Sayid and sundry others when necessary...Running Scared by Roy Orbison. This could also work from the standpoint of Sawyer or Jack because they don't know who kate is going to pick.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:11 AM
guccigirl I see youuuu :) Come on in! The fire is roaring, we have cocoa w/marshmellows...it's good stuff.

Brina...I might have to vomit for that Bob Marley insertion :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:11 AM
Sabrina... we might need to concede Jack and Kate...

And while I was trying to post this it tell me another reply has been posted... and I think we need to concede Kate and Sawyer as well! *

ImaNavyGirl
01-15-2005, 01:12 AM
I think for SUN: *

MY WAY by the late great Frank Sinatra

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:15 AM
For Charlie... KC and The Sunshine Band... "Play that Funky Music"

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:16 AM
Actually, there are 2 Belle & Sebastian songs...1 for the Love Triangle....

http://www.lyricsfreak.com/b/belle-&-sebastian/16394.html

And for any of the individuals really:

http://www.seeklyrics.com/lyrics/Belle-And-Sebastian/The-Wrong-Girl.html

Bliss
01-15-2005, 01:18 AM
"Half-Fling" featuring Dominic Monahan and Elijah Wood (yes, it's a stretch to call muppet voices a song and to make it fit but it's Dom, so bear with me :lol2: ).

As cute as Charlie and Claire's PB scene was, I could see him singing it to cheer her up and to make the baby laugh if we're lucky enough to get them both back(crosses fingers).

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:19 AM
Jorie... good call w/ the Belle and Sebastian!

Bliss... I wondered how long it would take for pandemoniumfromamerica to make an appearance....

How about for everyone.... the Postal Service... "Brand New Colony"

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:19 AM
Bliss, what a cute idea :)

I guess we need the obligatory "Oh sweet child of mine" on here, just so we're legit...

And that reminds me. Kate and Sawyer are 2 Legit 2 Quit :) Hammer all the way, awz yeah.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:21 AM
Who did Bad Medicine? Cuz um, we could use that for "mean Jack" :)

rabgal
01-15-2005, 01:22 AM
Daydream Believer * *;D *(going solely by the title *:lol2:)

Bon Jovi did Bad Medicine

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:23 AM
Jorie, no idea who Bad Medicine belongs to... but can definitely see it working for Jack when he's dealing w/ Sawyer....

For Charlie.... the Guitar Man by Cake?

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:24 AM
why thank you rabal :) And welcome! Your icon is awesome :)

Daydream believer indeed. they all had better dream themselves away from going insane :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 01:26 AM
Jorie, thanks for starting this wonderful thread.... and to everybody else... it's been fun playing. I have to hit the sack... will stop by tomorrow to check on the progress of this thread! :)

Good night all!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:28 AM
Ooooooo. While my Guitar gently Weeps for Charlie (like my consistent capitalization there?)

There's a Stone Roses song called Bye Bye Badman...
http://website.lineone.net/~craig.p/roses/roseslyrics/byebyelyrics.html

I'm thinking of Locke...

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:28 AM
Night JP. See you tomorrow I'm sure :)

Bliss
01-15-2005, 01:29 AM
Goodnight, Jeanine--P.S. I'll work all of the ones that feature Dom in sooner or later *;) .

Jorie-- :lol2: over 2 Legit 2 Quit. Aah, memories. Who else remembers the hand motions (did I say that outloud, umm not me, it was a friend of a friend who listened to Hammer  ).

"Holding Out for a Hero"by Bonnie Tyler
http://www.lyricsondemand.com/soundtracks/f/footlooselyrics/holdingoutforaherolyrics.html

Slightly cheesy but if I were Claire, I'd want someone to come and rescue me!

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:34 AM
I don't think you can find anyone today who admits to liking Hammer, can you? Does Hammer even admit that he liked his own music at one point? :)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:35 AM
Along similar lines, "Every Move you Make"...Police :)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:39 AM
Hammer will come back when the baggy pants come back. I mean, the *really* baggy pants.

It's too bad you can't just talk to VIPs on here because they get so bombarded. i get the impression that a lot of the vips are big into music and I would obviously be interested in hearing what they think goes along with the show. Oh well.

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:43 AM
Yeah, I should go to bed too. We'll see if anyone picks this up :) Otherwise, perhaps we will tomorrow. Thanks for playing! :)

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 01:50 AM
Hey Bliss....I see you're still there. Get other people to play! :)

Bliss
01-15-2005, 01:54 AM
Thanks Jorie and Sabrina for the fun!

Okay, I'll admit it. My name is Bliss and I danced in my *bedroom to U Cant Touch This and I won't be ashamed any longer *:lol2:!

"Clarity" by John Mayer for Boone after his "relieved" feeling.

P.S. As I meet people, I'll send them here :) !

01-15-2005, 02:19 AM
Hi rabgal* :) .

On a random note, doesn't it feel like there should be a group where you can "confess" and talk about the songs and artists that you used to love but now you're way too cool* ;) to acknowlege anymore  ?

Rose = "The Prayer" -Josh Groban/Charlotte Church. I can picture her singing it.

01-15-2005, 04:26 PM
Anyone here to play with me? :)

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 05:03 PM
Hey Jorie... I'm here... got my thinking cap on.....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 05:06 PM
Yay!!!!!!!!! ;D

I was thinking of another game too. Get a load of this.

We make episodes of Lost in opera form, so the characters can only talk to each other in lyrics.

So, for example:

Jack & Sayer:

Jack: Hey, you, get offa my cloud!"
Sawyer: "I'm just a poor boy nobody loves me"

etc.

What think you? Can we do it?

Jeanine Pettibone
01-15-2005, 05:08 PM
I could give it a try but I'm not so sure I'd be successful at it....

JorieJC2
01-15-2005, 05:10 PM
Well, I'm not sure I will be "good" at it either. But it could be fun...and when we have brain farts we can describe the stage directions :P

I'm going to start it on another post. It'll be called "Lost: the opera" I'll meet you there, aight? :)

Well, I couldn't find this thread, so I started another one somewhere else, but a poster here, Bliss suggested I copy my post here.
These are songs that make me think of Lost.
Van Morrison: Into the Mystic
& Brand New Day

Mary Chapin Carpenter: I feel Lucky

Everything off of Classic Queen
(especially Bo Rap, Under Pressure & One Vision)

A little silly but:
Of course Stairway to Heaven
2nd of course - Free Bird
Lynyrd Skynyrd - That Smell
Tears for Fears - everybody wants to rule the world
The Eagles - Witchy Woman (kate's song *grin*)
Molly Hatchet -- Fall of the Peacemakers, Flirtin with Disaster, Dreams I'll Never See,* Stone in your heart (Shannon)* , Beatin the odds

Obviously anything by the Beach Boys - LOL

And wouldn't it be fun to see a group of the background extras sitting around one of the bonfires singing "California Dreamin"?
So ends my case of the sillies for today -- thank you very much!

Songs that make me think of Lost...

"Who's Gonna Save Us" by Living End, for obvious reasons.

"Vindicated" by Dashboard Confessional. The lyrics "Vindicated, I am selfish, I am wrong. I am right, I swear I'm right. Swear I knew it all along and I am flawed. But I am cleaning up so well, I am seeing in me now, the things you swore you saw yourself" makes me think of Charlie and all of his experiences on the island, from flirting with all of the girls to burning up his heroin. I know that I'm strange.

"Bring Me Back To Life" brings images of Charlie's and Shannon's near deaths.

I know, I have way too much time on my hands and I should probably be outside doing something besides posting on these boards. But what can I say, I'm addicted to Lost.
