Hello there, Burky!
As a musician, I love watching LOST and hearing the wide variety of themes that you've created for the different emotions in different moments. I especially love your use of cellos, and my favourite piece has to be the one in the scene from the second episode, where Sawyer joins the group hike up the mountain. It's such an energetic track. I hope you use that one more in future episodes.
Now I play the saxophone and the piano and I sing, and lately I've been getting into arranging music by ear (The Lord of the Rings, trailer soundtracks, video game soundtracks) and composing my own stuff, and I'm beginning to worry about which career path I should be choosing. Seeing as how you got into music AND film, two things I am very interested in, I was hoping you could answer a few questions.
How should I go about choosing a specific career and studying it in my post-high school education? I'm interested in sound effects production, film scores/composing, and/or simply performing. I know performing music would be a tough career, but if I chose something like sound effects, I could bring in my knowledge of music and be a great asset to the creative team. I've actually found a university that offers a class on Music and Computers - learning how to record, mix and compose audio, sound effects and music - which seems to be perfectly fitting for me.
I guess what I'm trying to say is - what sort of a career would be good for me, and how would I go about finding the right place to study it?
Thank you for your time!
Shannon.
