..of some sort of "travel" mishap!

I'm sure it's been mentioned in other episode discussions, but a balloon accident?

This brings the tally of how people got there to:

1 commercial airliner crash (Oceanic)
1 sailboat wreck (Desmond)
1 pirate ship (Black Rock)
1 twin engined aircraft (Nigerian drug runners)
1 balloon (Henry)
1 scientific expedition gone horribly wrong (Danielle's shipwreck)

It would seem that a theory I mentioned to a friend early on is perpetuated! They're all getting there in some sort of travel disaster!

Well it is an island... they wouldnt really be able to get there by any other kind of mistake. Some sort of oversea travel is really on of the few ways to get stranded on an island.

The computer does not control a self destruct mechanism but a RESTART mechanism, at least it says so on abc.com site:

"Who knew that the simple restart code would be such a big issue on the island!"

They don't call it a reset code but a restart code. The word reset would be the obvious choice as the timer is reset, but why would they use restart ? They say it's a restart code, so what does it restart ? The timer ? I don't think so because the timer is in fact reset, as it's counting down. What intrigues me is that it could in fact mean that by pushing the button they restart something every 108 minutes.

Well honestly I don't think the solution of the hatch is on a t-shirt that is for sale on the ABC-website...

However I did think the restart idea was a good theory, since it could mean keeping some sort of protective system running or something. However if one considers the sound that was heard, that sounded more like something starting up and not shutting down as would be suggested by forgetting to input a restart code.

True, but I think it is the mishap part that is interesting. So far, we don't know of anyone who got to the island intentionally. I'm sure the Dharma people did, but we don't know that for a fact yet.

Nobody that we know of got there intentionally because the island is somehow undetectable or invisible. Otherwise, it would've been a tourist destination by now, hehe. Well, perhaps not...

It seems so obvious a statement to say that no one has intentionally gotten to the island out of their own volition but yet somehow still makes us wonder.

Absolutely! Did Henry Gale get there intentionally? Desmond? Oceanic Air crew? Are they there for a reason, as Locke suggested?
