I'm going to be taking my first cruise on the Conquest this year. Has anybody ever been on a cruise or is anybody going? Any advice as to what to expect?

Destination: Montego Bay,Jamaica, Cozumel, and Caymen islands.

What are some of the best excursions?

ooh i went on my first cruise last summer.
it was great.

i suggest getting some travel books at the library and read up a bit on your destinations.
then decide what you want to see/do. and take into consideration your heat/humidity/sun
tolerances. down there the sun is very intense.
i went to Bermuda, St thomas and few other places. :)

also decide how busy you want to be. and rushed. sometimes you have a morning
activity and then rush to get to the afternoon excursion. i tried to plan down time
and time to get ready for the dinners each night. we ate in the dining room everynight
and not the cafeteria. it was wonderful.

also there are cruise forums out there. usually one for each cruise line. go lurk and read.
see what they had to say about stuff.

if i can answer specific questions i wil try. meanwhile i cant wait to go on my next cruise.
trying to pick one for next year or sooner ;)

I went on a cruise for my Wedding/Honeymoon 5 years ago. We went to the "Mexican Riviera." If you love to eat you will have the time of your life. Just be sure to pace yourself. If you tend to get motion sickness I recommend getting motion sickness patches. It might be a good idea to do some research and plan/book some port activities in advance. (I went horse back riding near the Sierra Madres. What a memory) Sometimes things get booked up. My husband and I did a few out of the way non touristy things. If you are adventurous I recommend it. Consult the cruise ships morning newsletter for the days activities.

Have fun. Relax. Enjoy. :smile1:

WOW! This is really odd! I'm going on my first cruise trip in May ... it's so close that I can't quiet believe it, because it'll be my first trip out of Australia, oh heck out of my state. I am going as my gran's carer, because she couldn't go on her own and this is more or less her dream trip.

destinations: Japan, Eastern Russia, Alaska and coming home from Canada.

I am very excited about the thought of seeing Alaska, one of the many places I have always wanted to see. I'd love to go to Canada too, but unfortantly, that is when we are coming home. Neverless I am very excited!

Thanks everyone for the info. I'm really excited...nervous too. I've never been out of the U.S.. My true dream is to travel the world with my kids. They are so intelligent and know so much about different cultures and languages.

I'm gonna test this cruise experience and probabely plan one for my kids two years down the road.

sounds like everyone's been to or going to some pretty incredible places.

My kids have traveled more at 7 and 12 then I have in my entire 30 years. I hope I have given them a bit of wanderlust. I so regret not traveling more when I was younger.

Good luck.
