Revan zoe652 02-24-2006, 08:52 AM I second that question. I would like to know, if its worth the money. desmondlives 02-24-2006, 04:56 PM it's not supposed to come out till March 1st adam8023 02-24-2006, 09:39 PM What is the novel about? TheSmash 02-27-2006, 05:13 PM it's not supposed to come out till March 1st Exactly how could you have seen it:confused: Frank Sawyer 03-04-2006, 02:26 PM I purchased this novel today. Apparently the book is about an artist/sculptor/professor named Jeff Hadley (although the back of the book says "Nick" Hadley :p). Anyway, he apparently was involved in a scandal and boarded 815 to get away from everything. The island gave him inspiration for his art, and then he began to have vivid nightmares, and hear voices. elfdream 03-04-2006, 03:30 PM I have read it and I have to be honest...I did not care for the backstory. The redshirt was an absolute jerk and didn't get much sympathy from me until the very end. However the on island story was good. Locke,Hurley, Michael, Charlie and the redshirt go on a boar hunt! babybrothalova 03-10-2006, 02:46 AM Was there enough Charlie in the book to keep you a little interested? I was thinking of getting it, and that would seal the deal. elfdream 03-11-2006, 09:37 AM There is more of him there than there has been up til now in the other books. GloryQuest 03-12-2006, 02:01 PM I just read this on Books-A-Million's website (bamm.com), regarding Signs of Life: This third novel is based on the hit ABC television show and introduces a brand-new character who is among the 48 original survivors of Oceanic Flight 815--a character who will later be featured on the show. Anyone else heard that and know if it's true? (Actually, looking for information on this is how I found The Fuselage.) i_love_dmjgmfna 03-13-2006, 05:00 PM I've been looking for this one and can't find it at my Barnes & Noble...What date was it supposed to come out again? Frank Sawyer 03-15-2006, 04:43 PM ^^Amazon.com says March 1st. That's the day I picked my copy up in-store as well. lost1963 03-26-2006, 04:25 PM Thanks 4 Link bright light 03-26-2006, 04:43 PM jsut wondering if the books are as good as the show as i loss interest in books quite easily and im wondering if its worth me saving up my pocket money for them? TheSmash 04-01-2006, 05:09 PM hey everyone... I saw that LOST novel #3 is available at Barnes and nobles....I don't have a copy but could anyone give a review? Revan I want to get that book it looks good:cool: lost_libby 04-04-2006, 02:48 AM I'm in the middle of it at the mo and it's really really good, I think it may turn out to be my favourite of the three, there's more Locke in it than the other two which is great but not as much Jack but he was in the other two quite a bit. Anyway something really disturbing is going on with this character! lostdork815 04-08-2006, 01:03 PM Are you refering to him as a red shirt like what happens to them in Star Trek? If so, how will he be on the show? Necrite98 04-08-2006, 08:27 PM I think this has been the best novelization of the series so far. Nothing against Cathy Hapka, but I think Frank Thompson is a slightly better writer. Or perhaps it is more accurate to say that his writing style appealed to me more than Hapka's. The character was not very sympathetic, but I still found it to be an enjoyable read. I guess he fits in with some of the other Lost characters that way. I personally do not find Kate to be a very sympathetic character, but her stories are still compelling and interesting. I felt the same about Jeff in this novel. tlsmith1963 04-08-2006, 09:29 PM I purchased this novel today. Yeah, what was up with that? I guess they changed the name of the character or something. Good book, though. I just finished it today. Tammy Chrystal 04-09-2006, 11:24 AM I'm a bit slow here... didn't know there were Lost books, lol. But the show's great, so are they worth buying, or would it be going skint for nothing? lol which books would people reccommend? But the show's great, so are they worth buying, or would it be going skint for nothing? lol which books would people reccommend? I'd recommend reading all three, though as I've stated "Signs of Life" was my personal favorite. They're only about 5 bucks a piece, so even if you don't love them when you're done, they don't put a big dent in your pocketbook. Boonesgurl 04-11-2006, 01:50 PM I agree this is definitely the best book yet, but the whole thing with the demon-things and the cave in and the glyphs on the walls and stuff, surely it's got to be something that plays a major part in Lost's plot in the future? :undecide: Necrite98 04-11-2006, 02:01 PM I wish it would play something of a role in the show, but I doubt that it will. I think the books operate pretty much independantly from the show because they aren't written by the writers of the show. whispervixen 04-13-2006, 07:34 PM I've just started reading this book and so far I'm really enjoying it. I like the fact the character is from the isle of Arran which is the isle just across the coast from where I stay :p. I felt the same about Jeff in this novel. Different strokes... I find Kate to be one of the most sympathetic characters on the island, and I REALLY felt for Jeff in this book. I started to explain why, but deleted it so I don't give anything away. Suffice it to say that his backstory really tugged at my heartstrings. Having said that, some of the creepier stuff on the island kinds turned me off. All in all, though, my favorite of the books... Necrite98 04-27-2006, 02:28 PM Different strokes... Different strokes indeed. Like I said though, while I find it hard to sympathize with Kate and Jeff, I still like both characters. And I am interested to learn more about Kate in the show. I would like to know about her marriage that "didn't last long." I'm glad that people are enjoying these books. I'm really looking forward to the next one. Naonak 04-28-2006, 04:35 PM I thought it was an alright read, but didn't seem to add as much to the overall Lost storyline as I expected, although the stuff in the cave could come into it later. Probably won't bother with any others. natfrog5 05-06-2006, 09:08 AM I purchased this novel today. Apparently the book is about an artist/sculptor/professor named Jeff Hadley (although the back of the book says "Nick" Hadley :p). . So glad my book isnt the only one to have that error!! I've only just started reading it but to me he suits the name Jeff rather than Nick lol. xxxxx 100% Oooh also, maybe I'm being too picky but did anyone else notice this.... When Jeff got the letter about his acceptance into the college it said he would start in Aug 2002. Then a bit later on when he met Savannah it said something about him starting his 4th year there. He couldnt have spent four years there as Flight 815 crashed in Sept 2004.... Am I wrong? xxxx GloryQuest 05-06-2006, 12:06 PM When Jeff got the letter about his acceptance into the college it said he would start in Aug 2002. See, that's one of the things I found interesting about this book: that it actually mentions dates. I don't recall either of the first two doing that. And, to my knowledge, no time frame has ever been mention on Lost, another of its mysteries. (Or am I wrong? :undecide:) Finn Buzzing 06-01-2006, 07:11 AM Ok I only read these books cause I'm obsessed with LOST and they are a guilty pleasure cause they are really rubbish. Ive only read 1 and 3 so far and whilst I think the style of writing in 3 is better the stories are all completely lame. When they feature real LOST characters they are written badly and seem out of character. The main characters in the books are tedious with no depth. I never expected great literature works from these books but they seem like bad fan fiction. Gulity pleasure that lacks pleasure. alpheusia23 06-13-2006, 08:51 PM I've read all three books, just finished the third one. I do have a problem with the book. At the beginning of the book it has been a few weeks since the crash and at the end of the book it has been almost a month after that and Walt is still with his father and everyone else. Maybe I read that wrong, but it seems off timewise with what's going on on the island. bright light 06-14-2006, 03:56 PM I read the 3 books during my exam leave. i think the books are ideal for holiday books when you just want something to read that isnt too complicated and quite enjoyable . I think that signs of life is defiantly the darkest of the 3 books, with jeffs love life especialy ;). After reading signs of life i definatly think the island has alot more secrets. Some times i got confused about the timeing of events, when they jumped forward and there wasn't a page break or anything to sigal that (but thats probubly just one of my pet hates). anyone else notice in each book there was 23 chapters :eek2: hehe |
